Role of Ag microalloying on glass forming ability and crystallization kinetics of ZrCoAgAlNi amorphous alloy

Bulk.m.tallic glasses(BmGs) with new chemical compositions(ZrCoAgAlNi) were fabricated and the effects of Ag minor addition on the glass forming ability(GFA) and crystallization kinetics were studied. The x-ray diffraction(XRD) test was applied to identify the amorphousness of BmGs or possible crystalline phases. Using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), the thermal stability and crystallization kinetics under a non-isothermal condition at the different heating rates were studied. Considering the heating rate dependency of glass transition and crystallization kinetics, the activation energy was evaluated and measured for the mentioned processes. It was revealed that the rise in Ag content led to the decrease in activation energy for glass transition, while the activation energy for crystallization increased. The thermal stability and GFA were also studied and it was found that the Ag addition strongly affected the inherent features of BmGs. With the increase in Ag content, the atomic mobility and structural rearrangement changed in the material and consequently, the GFA and thermal stability were significantly improved.

Acute toxicity of 0.3 ppm mercuric chloride on the mucocytes of the branchial diverticulum and skin of Heteropneustes fossilis results in cyclic increases followed by decreases in the density, area occupancy and volume at different intervals of exposure. The alterations in the two tissues do not follow the same path perhaps due to different modes of action of the mercury salt: The skin comes under direct contact effects, while the branchial diverticulum may be affected by hormonal imbalance caused by a stress effect.

Histopathological alterations induced by the sublethal concentration of (0.03 ppm) mercuric chloride solution on the epidermis of the fresh-water catfish Heteropneuates fossilis have been studied. It induces slow but significant histopathological changes in the various cellular components of the epidermis. It induces vacuolization, necrosis and pycnosis of the nuclei of the epithelial cells which subsequently shed. Loosening of epithelial cells of the outermost and middle layers following degeneration of the intercellular material and widened intercellular spaces is another important alteration. Prolonged mercury treatment also causes a gradual decrease in staining intensity for sulphated glycosaminoglycans in the outer border of the most superficial layer epithelial cells. The glandular elements (club cells and mucocytes) also get affected, showing cyclic degeneration followed by regeneration.

Submunitions should exhibit optimum terminal performance at target end when released from certain pre-determined height. Selection of an optimum height of release of the submunitions depends on the terminal parameters like forward throw, remaining velocity, impact angle and flight time. In this paper,the effects of initial firing conditions and height of release on terminal performance of submunitions discussed in detail. For different height of release, the relation between range and forward throw is also established & validated for a number of firing altitude and rocket configurations.

The number of electric vehicles are increasing in the society as they are considered as zero emission vehicles and also because conventional fuels are becoming expensive. Additional electrical power should be produced to meet the energy requirement of this increase in electric vehicle population. To use the existing grid infrastructure without any failure, installing distributed generator at secondary distribution network is essential. In this work, sizing of wind-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator photovoltaic hybrid distributed generating system has been attempted to meet the energy demand of electric vehicles of a particular residential area. Different feasible combinations for wind generator capacity and photovoltaic capacity are obtained to satisfy the additional energy requirement. Results are analyzed based on energy, financial payback periods and daily power profile of the hybrid system. Based on this analysis, the sizes of wind generator and photovoltaic array have been chosen to meet the energy demand of electric vehicles of that particular residential locality.

An investigation of lanthanum oxide(La_(2)O_(3))addition to tungsten heavy alloy(WHA)with a ternary composition of W-7 Ni-3 Fe was reported in this *** mixed powders were sintered using spark plasma sintering(SPS)***_(2)O_(3)was added in increments of 0.25 wt%,0.50 wt%,0.75 wt%and 1.00 wt%to WHA,*** sintered samples were characterized for microstructural evolution and mechanical *** influences of La_(2)O_(3)addition on density,grain size,hardness,ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and ductility on W-7 Ni-3 Fe system were discussed in this *** highest relative sintered density of 87.95%was obtained for 0.25 wt%La_(2)O_(3)addition to W-7 Ni-3 *** lowest grain size of 7.89μm was observed for 1.00 wt%La_(2)O_(3)***,the highest hardness and UTS of HV 533 and1110 mPa,respectively,were also obtained for the same *** electron microscopy(SEm)and energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)of the samples revealed homogenous distribution of La_(2)O_(3)in the alloy *** of the sintered alloy samples revealed W-W intergranular fracture.

Advances in photo editing software have made it possible to generate visually convincing photographic forgeries which have been increased tremendously in recent years. In order to alleviate the problem of image forgery, a handful of techniques have been presented in the literature to detect forgery either in shadow or reflection. This paper aims to develop a technique to detect the image forgery either in shadow or reflection using features enabled neural network. The proposed technique of image forgery detection contains three important steps, like segmentation, feature extraction and detection. In segmentation, shadow points and reflection points are identified using map-based segmentation and FCm clustering. Then, feature points from the shadow points and reflective parts are extracted by considering texture consistency and strength consistency using LVP operator. The final step of forgery detection is performed using the feed forward neural network, where a new algorithm called ABCLm is developed for training of neural network weights. The performance is analyzed with four existing algorithms using measures such as accuracy and mSE. From the analysis, we understand that the proposed technique obtained the maximum accuracy of 80.49%.

AIm： To evaluate the clinical and biochemical profile of patients with non alcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFLD） and to assess their histological severity at ***： Consecutive patients presenting to the liver clinic of All India Institute of medical Sciences （AIImS） with raised transaminases to at least 1.5 times upper limit of normal, and histologically confirmed non-alcoholic fatty liver disease were included. Patients who had significant alcohol intake or positive markers of other liver diseases or who were taking drugs known to produce fatty liver were excluded. The clinical, biochemical and histological profile of this group was studied. RESULTS： Fifty-one patients with NAFLD formed the study population. Their median age and BmI were 34（17-58） years and 26.7（21.3-32.5） kg/m^2 respectively and 46 （90.1%） were males. The majority of the patients had mild inflammation, either grade 1 [32 （63%）] or grade 2 [16 （31%）] and only 3 （6%） patients had severe （grade 3） inflammation. Twenty-three （45%）, 19 （37%）, 8（16%） and 1（2%） patient had stage 0, 1, 2 and 3 fibrosis respectively on index biopsy and none had cirrhosis. On univariate analysis, triglyceride levels more than 150 mg % （OR = 7.1; 95% CI： 1.6-31.5, P = 0.002） and AST ALT ratio 〉 1 （OR = 14.3; 95% CI： 1.4-678.5, P = 0.008） were associated with high grades of inflammation and none was associated with advanced fibrosis. On multivariate logistic regression analysis, hypertriglyceridemia 〉150 mg% was the only factor independently associated with presence of high grade of inflammation （OR = 1.6; 95% CI： 1.3-22.7, P =0.02）, while none was associated with advanced fibrosis. Triglyceride levels correlated positively with inflammatory grade （r = 0.412; P = 0.003）. CONCLUSION： NAFLD in North Indian patients is a disease of young over-weight males, most of whom are insulin resistant and they tend to have a mild histological disease at presentation.
