＜正＞ Using a tethered balloon observing system, vertical distributions of number concentration of aerosols in segregated sizes in the near surface atmosphere （from ground to about 1,200m altitude） were observed at the Atmospheric Observing Experimental Base （39°48’N, 116°28’E） in the outskirts of Beijing before and during a smoke screen weather on mar. 15 and 16, 2005 with an Optical Particle Counter （OPC）. Meteorological data as the ambient temperature, relative humidity and air pressure, etc. were simultaneously got with some loaded radio-sondes. Aerosol samples were collected directly from different altitudes with a remote-controlled low-volume impactor （LVI） and individual particles were analyzed with electron microscopes and an energy dispersive spectrometer （SEM-EDX）.

The catalytic hydrogenation of D-glucose over a 3 wt% Ru/C catalyst was studied varying the operating conditions in mild conditions range to optimize the obtention of D-sorbitol. The stirring speed, temperature, pressure, and initial glucose concentration were varied between 250 - 700 rpm, 343 - 383 k, 0.5 - 2 MPa, and 0.033 - 0.133 M, respectively. To verify the absence of mass transport limitations, the diffusion of reagents in the gas-liquid interface, the liquid-solid interface, and the internal diffusion in the particles were evaluated. Under the operating conditions studied, the reaction rate showed an order with respect to H2 of 0.586 and with respect to glucose of 0.406. The kinetic data were adjusted using 3 general models and 19 different sub-models based on Langmuir-Hinshelwood-Hougen-Watson (LHHW) kinetics. Model 3a was the best one interpreting the aqueous phase hydrogenation of glucose (both reagents competitively adsorbed on the catalyst). The H2 adsorption is dissociative and the rate-limiting step is the surface chemical reaction.

Rapid emergence and a vigorous growth prevent the seed tubers from infections by soil microbes and allow a rapid interception of solar radiation. In this work, the effect of the potassium phosphites (kPhi) applied to seed tubers of two potato cultivars on crop emergence and early growth was studied. Two experiments were performed under greenhouse and field conditions. Emergence of plants, leaf area, dry matter and the number of primary stems were measured in both experiments. Furthermore, mycorrhizal colonization was also measured on roots under field conditions. The application of kPhi reduced the period between planting and emergence, and increased leaf area and dry matter. The ratio between dry matter of aerials and underground organs was not affected by kPhi. Indigenous mycorrhizal colonization increased after kPhi application to seed tubers. These results confirm the benefit of the application of kPhi to seed tubers on early plant growth and suggest that their application in crop production would be advantageous.

In order to compete in the global manufacturing mar ke t, agility is the only possible solution to response to the fragmented market se gments and frequently changed customer requirements. However, manufacturing agil ity can only be attained through the deployment of knowledge. To embed knowledge into a CAD system to form a knowledge intensive CAD (kIC) system is one of way to enhance the design compatibility of a manufacturing company. The most difficu lt phase to develop a kIC system is to capitalize a huge amount of legacy data t o form a knowledge database. In the past, such capitalization process could only be done solely manually or semi-automatic. In this paper, a five step model fo r automatic design knowledge capitalization through the use of data mining is pr oposed whilst details of how to select, verify and performance benchmarking an a ppropriate data mining algorithm for a specific design task will also be discuss ed. A case study concerning the design of a plastic toaster casing was used as an illustration for the proposed methodology and it was found that the avera ge absolute error of the predictions for the most appropriate algorithm is withi n 17%.

Disease prediction in plants has acquired much attention in recent *** factors such as:temperature,relative humidity,rainfall,sunshine play an important role in a plan’s growth only if they are present in adequate amounts as required by the *** the other hand,if the factors are inadequate,they may also support the growth of a disease in the *** current study focuses on the Rust disease in Aonla fruits and leaves by utilizing a real time dataset of weather *** different models are tested for spray prediction on conducive *** resampling techniques,random over sampling(ROS)and synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE)have been used to balance the dataset and five different classifiers:support vector machine(SVM),logistic regression(LR),k-nearest neighbor(kNN),decision tree(DT)and random forest(RF)have been used to classify a particular day based on weather conditions as conducive or *** classifiers are then evaluated based on four performance metrics:accuracy,precision,recall and *** results indicate that for imbalanced dataset,kNN is appropriate with high precision and recall *** both balanced and imbalanced dataset models,the proposed model SMOTE-RF performs best among all models with 94.6%accuracy and can be used in a real time application for spray ***,timely fungicide spray prediction without over spraying will help in better productivity and will prevent the yield loss due to rust disease in Aonla crop.

Relieving network congestions is a critical goal for the safe and flexible operation of modern power systems, especially in the presence of intermittent renewables or distributed generation. This paper deals with the real-time coordinated operation of distributed static series compensators(DSSCs) to remove network congestions by suitable modifications of the branch reactance. Several objective functions are considered and discussed to minimize the number of the devices involved in the control actions, the total losses or the total reactive power exchanged, leading to a non-convex mixed-integer non-linear programming problem. Then, a heuristic methodology combining the solution of a regular NLP with k-means clustering algorithm is proposed to get rid of the binary variables, in an attempt to reduce the computational cost. The proposed coordinated operation strategy of the DSSCs is tested on several benchmark systems, providing feasible and sufficiently optimal solutions in a reasonable time frame for practical systems.

We report carbon stock in biomass, litter and soil estimated for six locations in natural Quercus ilex L. stands of the Middle and High Moroccan Atlas. Twenty trees at each location were selected according to their diameter classes and felled to measure the biomass of trunk, branches, twigs and leaves and determine allometric relationships. Soil was sampled in five depths (0 - 15, 15 - 30, 30 - 50, 50 - 70 and 70 - 100 cm) and litterfall production measured in all tree stands. The total carbon stock in above-ground biomass ranged between 17 Mg·haǃ in Aït Aamar stand (High Atlas) and 91 Mg·haǃ in ksiba stand (Middle Atlas). Perennial organs (trunk, branches and twigs) stored over 95% of the tree carbon stock. Soil organic carbon concentrations ranged from 0.01% (in 70 - 100 cm in all stands) to 8.1% (in 0 - 15 cm in the Ajdir stand in Middle Atlas). The total organic carbon stock in the soil ranged between 141.4 t·haǃ in Ajdir and 24.6 t·haǃ in Asloul. The litter contained 0.2 Mg C haǃ in the clearing (C2) stand of High Atlas and 14.3 Mg C haǃ in (Ajdir) of carbon. The best fitted model for predicting carbon stock in tree biomass was obtained by applying the allometric equation Y = aXb for each biomass fraction and stand, where Y is the aboveground biomass (dry weight) and X is the DBH (Mean diameter at breast height, 1.30 m). These previous data obtained in the present study confirm the important function of these natural forests as longterm C sinks, in forest biomass, litter and soil. The potential long term C storage of these systems is moderately high, especially in less-intensively managed forests that include large trees. The established relationship between DBH and carbon stock in different tree organs can be used for forest carbon accounting, and also synthesize available information on oak forest as a sink for atmospheric CO2, and identify the management options that may enhance the capacity for C capture/ storage

The Laughter of Ticklishness Is a Darwinian Feature Related to Empathy in Both Genders: Self-Esteem in Men and Sexism in Women

The theory of false alarm for laughter could explain the involuntary laugh when someone is tickled. To put this hypothesis to the test, we handed out a questionnaire (180 items) with two hundred university students. Our main results are: In women who like being tickled, we discover components related to pleasure, erotism, feeling of affection, arousal, uncontrollability, domination, sexism and Darwinian (golden ratio) and psychological traits (empathy, low schizotypy and external locus of control) that are not present in the laughter at a stumble. The relation of both types of laughter with sense of humor is also differential. In men who like being tickled, we discover components related to masturbation, sexual fantasies, erotism, arousal, domination, sexist humour and Darwinian (square chin, feeling of masculinity) and psychological traits (empathic stress, low schizotypy, external locus of control and overall self-esteem). The relationship between being tickled and self-esteem shows a double aspect in men: It is positive in men who like being tickled and negative in men who do not like being tickled. For women there is not a relationship between self-esteem and tickling. Our conclusion is that laughter of ticklishness is a Darwinian feature related to empathy.

Effect of Different Nethouses on the Incidence of Insect on Vegetable Crops

In this study, the effects of different types of nethouses viz., NH1, NH2, and NH3, were investigated at the research farm of the Olericulture Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) from Sep 2021 to mar 2022 and compared to control (open field) in terms of the incidence of white fly, aphid, leaf miners, mites, and eggplant shoot and fruit borer (ESFB). This study included six vegetables 1) Tomato, 2) Eggplant, 3) Sweet pepper, 4) Broccoli, 5) Cucumber;6) Okra, as well as four nethouse treatments: 1) UV stabilized transparent polyethylene film with 60 mesh insect net along with green shade net (NH1);2) UV stabilized transparent polyethylene film with 60 mesh insect net (NH2);3) 60 mesh insect net (NH3);4) Open field infestation of white fly, aphid, leaf miners, mites, and ESFB was observed under open field conditions followed by NH1 conditions, while the lower infestation was observed in NH2 and NH3 for all vegetables. From the study, we found the use of stabilized transparent polyethylene film with a 60 mesh insect nethouse provided a negative effect on the presence of different types of notorious insects on vegetables. So, this type of protected nethouse will provide a new dimension to producing safe and quality vegetables in Bangladesh.
