Background and aim In-stent restenosis(ISR)belongs to an infrequent but potentially serious complication after carotid angioplasty and stenting in patients with severe carotid *** of these patients might be contraindicated to repeat percutaneous transluminal angioplasty with or without stenting(rePTA/S).The purpose of the study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of carotid endarterectomy with stent removal(CEASR)and rePTA/S in patients with carotid *** Consecutive patients with carotid ISR(≥80%)were randomly allocated to the CEASR or rePTA/S *** incidence of restenosis after intervention,stroke,transient ischaemic attack myocardial infarction and death 30 days and 1 year after intervention and restenosis 1 year after intervention between patients in CEASR and rePTA/S groups were statistically *** A total of 31 patients were included in the study;14 patients(9 males;mean age 66.3±6.6 years)were allocated to CEASR and 17 patients(10 males;mean age 68.8±5.6 years)to the rePTA/S *** implanted stent in carotid restenosis was successfully removed in all patients in the CEASR *** clinical vascular event was recorded periproceduraly,30 days and 1 year after intervention in both *** one patient in the CEASR group had asymptomatic occlusion of the intervened carotid artery within 30 days and one patient died in the rePTA/S group within 1 year after *** after intervention was significantly greater in the rePTA/S group(mean 20.9%)than in the CEASR group(mean 0%,p=0.04),but all stenoses weredence of 1-year restenosis that was≥70%did not differ between the rePTA/S and CEASR groups(4 vs 1 patient;p=0.233).Conclusion CEASR seems to be effective and save procedures for patients with carotid ISR and might be considered as a treatment option.

A Review of density Holes Upstream of Earth＇s Bow Shock

Larmor size transient structures with density depletions as large as 99%of ambient solar wind density levels occur commonly upstream of Earth’s collisionless bow *** "density holes" have a mean duration of 17.9±10.4s but holes as short as 4 s have been *** average fractional density depletion（δn/n） inside the holes is 0.68±*** density of the upstream edge moving in the sunward direction can be enhanced by five or more times the solar wind density. Particle distributions show the steepened edge can behave like a shock,and measured local field geometries and Mach number support this *** shaped magnetic holes accompany the density holes indicating strong coupling between fields and *** densities as large as 150nA·m-2 are observed at the leading compressed *** waves are elliptically polarized and rotating in the sense of ions（left hand） in the plasma *** waves appear to grow and steepen as the density holes convect with the solar wind toward the *** transient nature of density holes suggests that the temporal features could represent the different stages of nonlinear evolutionary processes that produce a shock-like *** density holes are only observed with upstream particles,suggesting that back-streaming particles interacting with the solar wind are important. The significance of these observations is still being investigated.

Comparison of structural diversity of tree-crop associations in Peripheral and Buffer zones of Gachabari Sal forest area,Bangladesh

The structural diversity of different tree-crop associations were studied at Gachabari Sal forest area of Madhupur Garh on Buffer and Peripheral Zone during 2006. The total density, basal area of trees in the Buffer and Peripheral Zone were 155.5 trees·hm^(-2), 795.4 trees·hm^(-2) and 3.9 m2·hm-2, 5.8 m^2·hm^(-2), respectively. No regeneration and natural trees were found in Peripheral Zone and the Zone is totally occupied by exotic species where the Buffer Zone comprised of both natural and exotic trees. The Peripheral Zone belonged to younger and smaller trees whereas the Buffer Zone belonged to mixture of smaller, taller, younger and mature trees simultaneously. For the practicing of different agroforestry systems both Zones have lost their original characters of Sal forest.

Ceramic fuel cells hold an important position for the sustainable energy future using renewable energy sources with high *** design and synthesis of active materials,interface engineering and having capability of low operating temperature is considered as an important factor to further increase the power output and stability of ceramic fuel cell devices.A novel methodology has vital importance to develop new functionalities of existing materials by introducing new different *** built-in electric field(BIEF) is one of the most recently used approaches to improve charge transfer and ionic conductivity of solid oxide ***,we demonstrate gradient doping strategy in CeO_(2)-δstructure to produce BIEF effect and to modulate the proton transport effectively at the surface layer rather than bulk *** inclusions of La and Sr metal ions at the surface and Co-metal ions into bulk-layer of CeO_(2)form the gradiently doped *** gradient doping into CeO_(2)highly improves the proton transport properties through the surface layer by modifying the energy ***,unbalanced charge distribution due to gradient doping produces built-in electric-field to provide extra driving force for protons transport through surface *** acquired gradiently doped fluorite structure exhibits remarkable proton conductivity of>0.2 S/cm,as a result ceramic fuel cell shows power output of>1000 mW/cm2while operating at 500℃.This unique work highlights the critical role of gradiently doped electrolyte in electrochemical conversion energy devices and offers new understanding and practices for sustainable energy future.

Influence of graphene nanoplatelets on mechanical properties and adhesive wear performance of epoxy-based composites

Epoxy resin is one of the most widely used thermoset polymers in high-performance composite materials for lightweight ***,epoxy has a high coefficient of friction,which limits its tribological *** this study,the effect was investigated of different weight fractions of solid lubricant graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs),ranging from 0 to 4.5 wt%,on mechanical and adhesive wear performance of *** wear tests covered mild and severe wear *** correlation of tribological and mechanical properties was studied as *** electron microscopy(SEM)was used to observe the failure mechanisms for both tribological and mechanical samples after each *** results revealed that the addition of GNPs to the epoxy improved its stiffness and hardness but reduced its fracture strength and *** wear performance exhibited high efficiency with GNP additions and showed reductions in the specific wear rate,the coefficient of friction,and the induced interface temperature by 76%,37%,and 22%,respectively.A fatigue wear mechanism was predominant as the applied load *** importantly,severe wear signs occurred when the interface temperature reached the heat distortion temperature of the *** tribological,and mechanical properties showed only a weak correlation to each *** addition of GNPs to epoxy by less than 4.5 wt%was highly efficient to improve the wear performance while maintaining the fracture strength and *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)analysis shows no chemical interaction between the epoxy matrix with GNPs,which implies its physical interaction.

Robust color purity of reddish-orange emission from Sm^(3+)-activated La10W22O81 biocompatible microphosphors for solid state lighting and anticancer applications

We synthesized reddish-orange luminescent La_(10)W_(22)O_(81)(LWO):Sm^(3+)microphosphors by hydrothermalassisted solid-state reaction.X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that all the studied phosphors crystallize in an orthorhombic structure in the Pbcn space group(60),Field emission scanning electron microscopy indicates that the LWO:1.5 mol% Sm^(3+)phosphor displays a smooth-surfaced hexagonal rod-like shape,with a closed shape at both ends,and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy demonstrates a robust crystalline *** chemical composition and valence states of the phosphor were investigated using X-ray photoelectron *** 403 nm excitation,LWO:1.5 mol% Sm3+exhibits maximum intensity with the strongest band at 596 nm(^(4)G_(5/2)→^(6)H_(7/2)) in the reddish-orange *** intensity of Sm^(3+) emission decreases beyond 1.5 mol% owing to concentration quenching regulated by dipole-quadrupole interaction between Sm^(3+)*** optimized microphosphor LWO:1.5 mol% Sm^(3+)exhibits color coordinates(0.5760,0.4207),which is close to that of the Amber LEd-NSPAR 70 BS(0.570,0.420),displaying the highest color purity of 99.2% and correlated color temperature of 1694 *** addition,both breast cancer cells MCF-7 and normal lung fibroblasts WI-38 were tested for toxicity with the optimized *** is found that the LWO:1.5 Sm^(3+)microphosphor is extremely toxic to cancer cells,but not to normal *** on these results,LWO:Sm^(3+)microphosphor can serve as a biomedical candidate for the treatment of cancer,as well as a potential multicolor emitting material for w-LEds.
