<i>In Vitro</i>Propagation of Ocimum Gratissimum L. (Lamiaceae) and Its Evaluation of Genetic Fidelity Using RAPD Marker

An efficient plant propagation system through nodal explants was established in Ocimum gratissimum L, a medicinally important herbaceous perennial herb belonging to the family Lamiaceae. Axillary shoot bud proliferation was initiated from nodal explants cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with various concentrations of N6-benzyladenine (BA) (0.5 - 3.0 mg/l), kinetin (kN) (0.5 - 3.0 mg/l) and 2-isoPentenyladenine (2-iP) (0.5 - 3.0 mg/l). Maximum numbers of shoots (5.17 ± 0.04) with average length (2.50 ± 0.07) were induced on medium containing 1.0 mg/l BA. Shoot multiplication was maintained by repeated subculturing the original nodal explants on shoot multiplication medium after each harvest of newly formed shoots. Histological study shows that the organogenesis occurs directly, without callus formation on epidermal and sub epidermal layer of the explants. Rooting of shoots was achieved on half strength MS medium supplemented with 1.5 mg/1 Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and 2% sucrose. Well-developed complete plantlets were transferred to plastic pots containing a mixture of (1:1) soil and vermiculite showed 82.5 % survival rate. Genetic fidelity was assessed by chromosome analysis and DNA fingerprinting using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) of in vitro and in vivo plants. Nine arbitrary decamers displayed same banding profile showed no genomic alterations, indicating homogeneity among the tissue culture regenerates and genetic uniformity with that of donor plants. The present study provides high fidelity micro-propagated system for efficient and rapid micro-propagation protocol of this important medicinal plant and great use in conserving without risk of genetic instability.

Sum-Based Meta-Analytical Enrichment of Gene Expression Data to Identify Pathway Signatures of Cancers

A new method for analysis of microarray gene expression experiments referred to as Sum-based Meta-analytical Enrichment?(SME) is proposed in this manuscript. SME is a combined enrichment and meta-analytical approach to infer?on the association of gene sets with particular phenotypes. SME allows enrichment to be performed across datasets,?which to our knowledge was not earlier possible. As a proof of concept study, this technique is applied to datasets from?Oncomine, a publicly available cancer microarray database. The genes that are significantly up-/down-regulated?(p-value ≤ 10-4) in various cancer types in Oncomine were listed. These genes were assigned to biological processes?using GO annotations. The SME algorithm was applied to identify a list of GO processes most deregulated in 4 major?cancer types. For validation we examined whether the processes predicted by SME were already documented in *** method identified several known processes for the 4 cancer types and identified several novel processes?which are biologically plausible. Nearly all the pathways identified by SME as common to the 4 cancers were found to?contribute to processes which are widely regarded as cancer hallmarks. SME provides an intuitive yet objective ‘process-centric’ interpretation of the ‘gene-centric’ output of individual microarray comparison studies. The methods described?here should be applicable in the next-generation sequencing based gene expression analysis as well.

Selective C3-alkenylation of oxindole with aldehydes using heterogeneous CeO2 catalyst

We report herein that a commercially available CeO2 is an active and reusable catalyst for the C3-selective alkenylation of oxindole with aldehydes under solvent-free conditions. This catalytic method is generally applicable to different aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, giving 3-alkyledene-oxindoles in high yields(87%–99%) and high stereoselectivities(79%–93% to E-isomers). This is the first example of the catalytic synthesis of 3-alkenyl-oxindoles from oxindole and various aliphatic aldehydes. The Lewis acid-base interaction between Lewis acid sites on CeO2 and benzaldehyde was studied by in situ IR. The structure-activity relationship study using CeO2 catalysts with different sizes suggests that defect-free CeO2 surface is the active site for this reaction.

The basis light front quantization(BLFQ)is a nonperturbative approach for the light front wavefunctions(LFWFs)and the spectroscopy of the many body bound-state systems in quantum field theories[1−3].It is a Hamiltonian-based formalism with the advantages of light front dynamics[4].The LFWFs of the bound states are obtained as the eigenfunctions of the light front Schr¨odinger equation Heff|Ψ>=M2|Ψ>,where Heff is the effective Hamiltonian of the system.

Transplacental haemorrhage in women having third trimester bleeding and perinatal outcome

Objectives: Present prospective study was carried out to know the frequency of transplacental fetomaternal hemorrhage in pregnancies complicated by third trimester vaginal bleeding and it’s correlation with fetoneonatal outcome. Material methods: One hundred, out of 170 Rh-positive primigravida/multigravida with singleton pregnancy of more than 28 weeks gestation, admitted with third trimester vaginal bleeding with no other obstetric disorder, were the study subjects and 100 controls were women with no bleeding, admitted immediately after the study case with same inclusion and exclusion criteria. Maternal peripheral blood was collected at admission and at 2 hours of delivery and volume of FMH was calculated by kleihauer’s formula. Results: Statistically significantly more perinatal deaths occurred in women with FMH, 35% in study subjects compared to 2.7% amongst controls. Conclusion: In the cases of third trimester bleeding and fetomaternal hemorrhage, chances of perinatal deaths are more.

系统研究了退火效应对飞秒激光脉冲驱动的基于钴铁硼/重金属异质结辐射太赫兹波的影响.通过对发射样品进行退火处理,在钨/钴铁硼结构中观察到三倍增强的太赫兹波辐射,而铂/钴铁硼结构中太赫兹波的强度也获得了双倍提升.通过太赫兹时域光谱系统对异质结样品的透射测量和四探针法电阻率测量实验,验证了退火效应的主要机理可能源于材料结晶引起的热电子平均自由程增加,以及材料对太赫兹波的吸收降低.本研究不仅加深了对自旋太赫兹辐射机理的理解,而且为研制高性能太赫兹辐射源及其应用有一定的贡献.

Since the 1918 influenza pandemic, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has produced the largest pandemic throughout the globe. SARS-CoV and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) are both members of the Beta CoV. The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) has terrible implications and is currently a serious health concern throughout the world. SARS-CoV-2 affects the respiratory system first since it is the major site of entrance into the patient, but it can also damage other systems. Aside from the typical respiratory problems, several COVID-19 patients develop gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms such as weight loss, vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. SARS-CoV-2 may infect the GI system via the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, and indications of a fecal-oral transmission pathway are growing. Globally, GI disorders (GIDs) are becoming a major source of morbidity in youth. The condition has a significant financial impact on healthcare systems and hurts people's lives;nonetheless, very little is documented about the condition's worldwide prevalence and incidence. Alterations in gut sensitivity, motility, microbiota, immunological function, and central nervous system processing are all factors that contribute to GIDs. GI malfunction results in changes in changes in gut bacteria as well as an elevation in inflammatory cytokines. As a result, recognizing GI symptoms that precede COVID-19 respiratory issues may be crucial for better early identification and treatment. In GI epithelial cells of the intestinal mucosa, ACE2 and transmembrane protease serine-type 2 were also discovered to be substantially expressed. SARS-CoV-2 may also infect and multiply in both GI and liver cells in a dynamic manner. These findings suggest that SARS-CoV-2 might be a viable target for the GI tract. This review focuses on the GI complications that arise due to COVID-19 and how the CoVs give rise to GI symptoms.

Diffusion weighted imaging: Technique and applications

Diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) is a method of signal contrast generation based on the differences in Brownian motion. DWI is a method to evaluate the molecular function and micro-architecture of the human body. DWI signal contrast can be quantified by apparent diffusion coefficient maps and it acts as a tool for treatment respon-se evaluation and assessment of disease progression. Ability to detect and quantify the anisotropy of diffusion leads to a new paradigm called diffusion tensor imaging(DTI). DTI is a tool for assessment of the organs with highly organised fibre structure. DWI forms an integral part of modern state-of-art magnetic resonance imaging and is indispensable in neuroimaging and oncology. DWI is a field that has been undergoing rapid technical evolution and its applications are increasing every day. This review article provides insights in to the evolution of DWI as a new imaging paradigm and provides a summary of current role of DWI in various disease processes.
