Ascorbate peroxidase, a haem protein （Ec 1.***.1.11）, efficiently scavenges hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） in cytosol and chloroplasts of plants. In this study, a fulllength coding sequence of thylakoid-bound ascorbate peroxidase cDNA （TatAPX） was cloned from a drought tolerant wheat cultivar c306. Homology modeling of the TatAPX protein was performed by using the template crystal structure of chloroplastic ascorbate peroxidase from tobacco plant （PDB： IIYN）. The model structure was further refined by molecular mechanics and dynamic methods using various tools such as PROcHEck, ProSA and Verify3D. The predicted model was then tested for docking with H2O2, the substrate for TatAPX enzyme. The results revealed that Arg233 and Glu255 in the predicted active site of the enzyme are two important amino acid residues responsible for strong hydrogen bonding affinity with H2O2, which might play an important role in scavenging of H2O2 from the plant system.

coral transplantation is considered as one of the major tools to increase coral abundance for degraded coral *** investigate the effects of various methods and coral species in transplantation, coral fragments（n=902） of five coral species were transplanted by four methods at Luhuitou, the Sanya Bay, Hainan Province, china, where the reef has been over-exploited and is still threatened by human activities and natural disasters. Ten months after the transplant, the average survivorship of the transplanted corals was 45.5%. Methodologies had different effects on the transplanted corals, but none of them was efficacious for all coral species. Methodology could not change the decreasing trend for Montipora foliosa and Acropora hyacinthus, although it did slow down their decline. All transplants of A. hyacinthus and M. foliosa had high mortalities and significant decrease on survival area, while Porites andrewsi and Galaxea fascicularis had lower mortalities and partial mortalities. Only one method had significant effect on increasing survival area of G. fascicularis, same as P. andrewsi. Out of the five transplanted coral species, Pocillopora damicornis was the only species that had living tissue area increase in all applied methods, while the others had decreased live tissue area in one or more methods. The results of this study suggested that performing coral transplantation in a highly threatened area was not efficient unless the threats were diminished or erased. Moreover, proper species selection for coral transplantation is crucial, especially in a disturbed environment. Methodology, although having limited effects on improving results of coral transplantation, cannot compensate the maladjustment of vulnerable species to the stresses on the Luhuitou Reef. coral transplantation on Luhuitou Reef should not be performed unless the stresses are under controlled,and corals with good tolerance to the environment should be considered first.

The objectives of this study were to produce ultrafine-grained(UFG) AA2024 aluminum alloy by cryorolling followed by aging and to evaluate its corrosion behavior. Solutionized samples were cryorolled to ~85% reduction in thickness. Subsequent aging resulted in a UFG structure with finer precipitates of Al_2cuMg in the cryorolled alloy. The(1) solutionized and(2) solutionized and cryorolled samples were uniformly aged at 160°c/24 h and were designated as cGPA and cRPA, respectively; these samples were subsequently subjected to corrosion studies. Potentiodynamic polarization studies in 3.5 wt% Nacl solution indicated an increase in corrosion potential and a decrease in corrosion current density for cRPA compared to cGPA. In the case of cRPA, electrochemical impedance spectroscopic studies indicated the presence of two complex passive oxide layers with a higher charge transfer resistance and lower mass loss during intergranular corrosion tests. The improved corrosion resistance of cRPA was mainly attributed to its UFG structure, uniform distribution of fine precipitates, and absence of coarse grain-boundary precipitation and associated precipitate-free zones as compared with the cGPA alloy.

A new chelating polymer support has been prepared by suspension copolymerization of synthesized N,N'-bis(3- allyl salicylidene)ethylenediamine monomer Schiff base (N,N'-BSEDA) with styrene (St) and divinylbenzene (DVB) using azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol). The content and complexation ability of monomer Schiff base (N,N'-BSEDA) for cobalt ions in prepared crosslinked polymer beads have shown dependence on the amount of DVB used in reaction mixture. The amount of monomer Schiff base (N,N '-BSEDA) in crosslinked beads showed a substantial decreasing trend at high concentration of DVB in the reaction mixture (> 1.5 mol dm-3), hence the efficiency of complexation (Ec%) and cobalt ion loading (EL%) of polymer beads showed a decreasing trend. The structure of monomer Schiff base (N,N'-BSEDA) and its cobalt complex on polymer support was elucidated by IR, UV and magnetic measurements. The catalytic activity of polymer bound cobalt Schiff base complex was evaluated by analyzing kinetic data of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of either supported cobalt complex or free cobalt complex. The activation energy for the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide by polymer supported cobalt complex was found to be low (33.37 kJ mol-1) in comparison with unsupported cobalt complex (56.35 kJ mol-1). On the basis of experimental observations, reaction steps are proposed and a suitable rate expression derived.

A new model to study the hydriding/dehydriding （H/D） kinetic mechanism has been applied in the two-phase （α-β） region of the Mg-6mol%LaNi composite at temperature and pressure ranging from 523 to 623k and 0.256 to 0.992MPa H2. respectively. The coincidence of the theoretical calculation with the experimental data indicates that the rate-limiting step is hydrogen diffusion in the β phase for hydriding process and the diffusion of hydrogen in the α solid solution for hydrogen desorption with activation energies 89500 and 87900J/mol H2 for HID processes, respectively, which were much smaller than those of MgH2 and can be attributed to the La and Ni additions.
