Fibrotic tumors,such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC),are characterized for high desmoplastic reaction,which results in high intra-tumoral solid stress leading to the compression of blood *** microarchitectural alterations cause loss of blood flow and poor intra-tumoral delivery of ***,there is a lack of relevant in vitro models capable of replicating these mechanical characteristics and to test anti-desmoplastic ***,a multi-layered vascularized 3D PDAC model consisting of primary human pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs)embedded in collagen/fibrinogen(Col/Fib),mimicking tumor tissue within adjunct healthy tissue,is presented to study the fibrosis-induced compression of vasculature in *** is demonstrated how the mechanical and biological stimulation induce PSC activation,extracellular matrix production and eventually vessel *** clinical relevance is confirmed by correlating with patient transcriptomic ***,the effects of gradual vessel compression on the fluid dynamics occurring within the channel is evaluated in ***,it is demonstrated how cancer-associated fibroblast(CAF)-modulatory therapeutics can inhibit the cell-mediated compression of blood vessels in PDAC in vitro,in silico and in *** is envisioned that this 3D model is used to improve the understanding of mechanical characteristics in tumors and for evaluating novel anti-desmoplastic therapeutics.

Simulations of fixed beds having column to particle diameter ratio （D/dp） of 3, 5 and 10 were performed in the creeping, transition and turbulent flow regimes, where Reynolds number （dpVLρL/μL） was varied from 0.1 to 10,000. the deviations from Ergun＇s equation due to the wall effects, which are important in D/dp 〈 15 beds were well explained by the CFD simulations. thus, an increase in the pressure drop was observed due to the wall friction in the creeping flow, whereas, in turbulent regime a decrease in the pressure drop was observed due to the channeling near the wall. It was observed that, with an increase in the D/dp ratio, the effect of wall on drag coefficient decreases and drag coefficient nearly approaches to Ergun＇s equation. the predicted drag coefficient values were in agreement with the experimental results reported in the literature, in creeping flow regime, whereas in turbulent flow the difference was within 10-15%.

the mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of carbon phenolic(C-Ph)composites(type-I)reinforced with different weight percentages of organo-modified montmorillonite(o-MMt)nanoclay have been studied *** milling was used to disperse different weight(wt)percentages(0,1,2,4,6 wt.%)of nanoclay into phenolic *** changes to resin due to nanoclay was *** the other hand,nanoclay added phenolic matrix composites(type-II)were prepared to study the dispersion of nanoclay in phenolic matrix by small angle X-ray scattering and thermal stability changes to the matrix by thermogravimetric analyser(tGA).this data was used to understand the mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of type-I *** laminar shear strength(ILSS),flexural strength and flexural modulus of type I composites increased by about 29%,12%and 7%respectively at2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which these properties *** was attributed to reduced fiber volume fraction(%Vf)of type-I composites due to nanoclay addition at such high *** ablation rate of type-I composites was evaluated using oxy acetylene torch test at low heat flux(125 W/cm^(2))and high heat flux levels(500 W/cm^(2)).Mass ablation rates have increased at both flux levels marginally up to 2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which it has increased *** is in contrast to increased thermal stability observed for type-I and type-II composites up to 2 wt.%addition of *** ablation rates due to nanoclay addition was attributed to higher insulation efficiency of nanolcay,which accumulates more heat energy in limited area behind the ablation front and self-propagating ablation mechanisms triggered by thermal decomposition of organic part of nanoclay.

the present paper reports the results of experimental investigations on the effect of diffuser vane shape on the performance of a centrifugal compressor *** studies were conducted on the chosen stage having a backward curved impeller of 500 mm tip diameter and 24.5 mm width and its design flow coefficient is Фd=*** different low solidity diffuser vane shapes namely uncambered aerofoil,constant thickness flat plate and circular arc cambered constant thickness plate were chosen as the variants for diffuser vane shape and all the three shapes have the same thickness to chord ratio(t/c=0.1).Flow coefficient,polytropic efficiency,total head coefficient,power coefficient and static pressure recovery coefficient were chosen as the parameters for evaluating the effect of diffuser vane shape on the stage *** results show that there is reasonable improvement in stage efficiency and total head coefficient with the use of the chosen diffuser vane shapes as compared to conventional vaneless *** is also noticed that the aero foil shaped LSD has shown better performance when compared to flat plate and circular arc *** aerofoil vane shape of the diffuser blade is seen to be tolerant over a considerable range of incidence.

It is known from experiments that in the presence of soluble antigen,B-cell receptors(BCRs)assemble into microclusters and then collect into a macrocluster known as a‘cap’.However,the mechanisms of BCR cluster formation during recognition of soluble antigens remain *** previous work,we demonstrated that effective intrinsic attractions among BCRs can lead to the formation of small microclusters of BCR *** effective intrinsic attractions could be caused by multivalent antigen binding,association with lipid rafts,or other biochemical *** the present study,we have developed and studied a Monte Carlo model of BCR clustering mediated by explicit binding and crosslinking of soluble bivalent *** crosslinking is shown to microcluster BCRs in an affinity-dependent manner and also in a biologically relevant timescale;however,antigen crosslinking alone does not appear to be sufficient for the formation of a single macrocluster of receptor *** show that directed transport of BCRs is needed to drive the formation of large *** constructed a simple model of directed transport,where BCR molecules diffuse towards the largest cluster or towards a random BCR microcluster,which results in a single macrocluster of receptor *** mechanisms for both types of directed transport are compared using network-based *** also develop and use appropriate network measures to analyze the effect of BCR and antigen concentration on BCR clustering,the stability of the formed clusters over time and the size of BCR–antigen crosslinked chains.

Objective: the current study evaluated various new colchicine analogs for their anticancer activity and to study the primary mechanism of apoptosis and in vivo antitumor activity of the analogs with selective anticancer properties and minimal toxicity to normal ***: Sulforhodamine B(SRB) assay was used to screen various colchicine analogs for their in vitro cytotoxicity. the effect of N-[(7S)-1,2,3-trimethoxy-9-oxo-10-(pyrrolidine-1-yl)5,6,7,9-tetrahydrobenzo[a] heptalene-7-yl] acetamide(ⅢM-067) on clonogenicity, apoptotic induction, and invasiveness of A549 cells was determined using a clonogenic assay, scratch assay, and staining with 4’,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI) and annexin V/propidium iodide. Mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP) and reactive oxygen species(ROS) levels were observed using fluorescence microscopy. Western blot analysis was used to quantify expression of proteins involved in apoptosis, cell cycle, and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3k)/protein kinase B(Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mtOR) signaling. Pharmacokinetic and in vivo efficacy studies against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma(EAC) and Ehrlich solid tumor models were conducted using Swiss albino ***: ⅢM-067 showed potent cytotoxicity and better selectivity than all other colchicine analogs screened in this study. the selective activity of ⅢM-067 toward A549 cells was higher among other cancer cell lines,with a selectivity index(SI) value of 2.28. ⅢM-067 demonstrated concentration-and time-dependent cytotoxicity against A549 cells with half-maximal inhibitory concentration values of 0.207, 0.150 and0.106 μmol/L at 24, 48 and 72 h, respectively. It also had reduced toxicity to normal cells(SI > 1) than the parent compound colchicine(SI = 1). ⅢM-067 reduced the clonogenic ability of A549 cells in a dose-dependent manner. ⅢM-067 enhanced ROS production from 24.6% at 0.05 μmol/L to 82.1% at 0.4 μmol/L and substantially decreased the MMP(100% in control to 5.6% at 0.4 μmol

the objective of the present study is to develop cost effective thermoplastic hybrid laminate using Dyneema®HB50 and tensylon®HSBD 30A through structural hybridization *** having 20 mm thickness were fabricated and subjected to 7.6239 mm mild steel core projectile with an impact velocity of 730±10 ms*** such as energy absorption,back face deformation and rate of back face deformation were measured as a function of hybridization *** was observed that hybrid laminate with 50:50 ratio(w/w)of tensylon®and Dyneema®with tensylon®as front face showed 200%more energy absorption when compared to 100%tensylon®laminate and showed equal energy absorption as that of expensive 100%Dyneema®***,hybrid laminate with tD50:50 ratio showed 40%lower in terms of final back face deformation than Dyneema®*** of back face deformation was also found to be slow for hybrid laminate as compared to Dyneema®*** mechanical analysis showed that,tensylon®laminate has got higher stiffness and lower damping factor than Dyneema®and hybrid *** interface between tensylon®and Dyneema®layers was found to be separating during the penetration process due to the poor interfacial *** behaviour of laminates for different hybridization ratios were studied by sectioning the impacted *** was observed that,the tensylon®laminate has undergone shear cutting of fibers as major failure mode whereas the hybrid laminate showed shear cutting followed by tensile stretching,fiber pull out and *** inputs are highly useful for body armour applications to design cost effective armour with enhanced performance.

the status of the names, Physalis minima L. and P. maxima Mill. (Solanaceae), and their alleged presence on the Indian subcontinent are discussed. the issues of nativity and identity of Linnaean Physalis minima are long-debated while the use of the name P. maxima Mill. and its report from India are recent. the available evidence indicates that the name "P. minima L." is misapplied to two different elements, viz., P. angulata L. and P. lagascae Roem. & Schult. the name Physalis minima L. may be rejected as nomen confusum, for which the paper provides the primary information. As on today, it is submerged under the synonymy of P. angulata L. the correct name for the widely known P. minima is P. lagascae. the name "P. maxima Mill." applied to the escape and naturalized weed in the Indian subcontinent and elsewhere is to be substituted by P. pruinosa L., a name misapplied to P. grisea (Waterf.) M. Martínez.

Graphene foam(GF)—a three-dimensional network of hollow graphene branches—is a highly attractive material for diverse ***,to date,the heat dissipation characteristics of GFs have not been *** fill this gap,we synthesized GF devices,subjected them to high temperatures,and investigated their thermal behavior by using infrared *** find that while the convective area of GF devices is comparable to that of bulk materials(such as metals),the coefficient of convection of these devices is several orders of magnitude higher than that of *** addition,the GF devices showed a reproducible thermal behavior,which we attribute to negligible temperature-induced morphological changes(as confirmed by Raman analysis).taken together,our findings suggest GF as a promising candidate material for advanced cooling applications where efficient heat dissipation is needed,e.g.,in electrical circuits.
