The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATlAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATlAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

外施多效唑诱导水稻对稻飞虱的抗性

【目的】利用化学激发子提高植物抗虫性从而抑制害虫,是目前正在开发的一种新型的害虫绿色防治技术。本研究旨在解析一种化学激发子——多效唑(paclobutrazol,PBZ)提高水稻Oryza savita对稻飞虱抗性的机理,以期为其在害虫防控中的应用打下基础。【方法】用不同浓度PBZ以根吸的方法处理秀水110品种水稻24 h后接入褐飞虱Nilaparvata lugens和白背飞虱Sogatella furcifera初孵若虫,测定接虫后不同时间若虫存活率;用含有5和10 mg/l PBZ或者防御化合物[咖啡酰腐胺、刺苞菊苷和樱桃苷(1和10 mg/l)及芥子酰胍丁胺(0.1和1 mg/l)]的稻飞虱人工饲料饲喂以及用5和20 mg/l PBZ溶液喷施褐飞虱若虫后,测定褐飞虱若虫存活率;5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理水稻、褐飞虱若虫为害和5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理水稻再接褐飞虱若虫后,测定水稻体内水杨酸(salicylic acid,sa)、过氧化氢(hydrogen peroxide,H_(2)O_(2))和乙烯(ethylene,ET)以及防御化合物芥子酰胍丁胺、咖啡酰腐胺、刺苞菊苷和樱桃苷的含量。【结果】与对照(根吸不含PBZ的营养液的水稻)相比,5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理水稻,接虫后3 d时褐飞虱若虫存活率降低33.3%;当PBZ浓度达到20 mg/l时,接虫后4 d时褐飞虱若虫全部死亡,但PBZ本身对褐飞虱若虫没有直接的毒杀作用。与对照组相比,5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理24 h后不接褐飞虱为害放置24 h时水稻植株体内sa含量显著上升,5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理水稻24 h再接褐飞虱若虫为害72 h时H_(2)O_(2)含量显著上升,5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理24 h后不接褐飞虱为害放置48-96 h、褐飞虱为害24-72 h及5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理水稻24 h再接褐飞虱若虫为害48-96 h ET释放量均显著下降,5 mg/l PBZ根吸处理诱导了水稻植株中咖啡酰腐胺和芥子酰胍丁胺2种酚胺类化合物以及刺苞菊苷和樱桃苷2种黄酮类化合物含量的显著上升。在褐飞虱人工饲料中添加1或10 mg/l的咖啡酰腐胺、芥子酰胍丁胺、刺苞菊苷或樱桃苷,可有效降低褐飞虱若虫存活率。【结论】PBZ是一种有效的化学激发子,可以通过激活水稻的sa和H_(2)O_(2)通路、抑制ET通路,诱导水稻相关防御化合物的合成,提高水稻对褐飞虱的抗性。

Carbon monoxide （CO）, an endogenous signaling molecule in animals, also provides potent cytoprotective effects including attenuation of lung lipid peroxidation induced by oxidant in the mouse. Our recent work demonstrated that 0.01 μmol/l hematin （a CO donor） treatment of wheat plants alleviated salt-induced oxidative damage in seedling leaves. In this report, we further discovered that hematin pretreatment （≤ 0.1 μmol/l） could delay wheat leaf chlorophyll loss mediated by further treatment of H202 and paraquat, two reactive oxygen species （ROS） sources, in dose-and even time-dependent manners. Also, compared with the control samples, seedling leaves pretreated with 0.01 or 0.1 μmol/l hematin for 24 h exhibited lower levels of H2O2 and lipid peroxidation, as well as higher contents of chlorophyll and activities of antioxidant enzymes. Such beneficial effects exerted by hematin were mimicked by the pretreatment of antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene （BHT）, and differentially reversed when CO scavenger hemoglobin （Hb）, or CO specific synthetic inhibitor ZnPPIX was added, respectively. Taken together, the results presented In this paper directly illustrate for the first time that CO is able to strongly protect plants from oxidative damage caused by the overproduction of ROS, and strengthens the evidence that CO is a potent antioxidant in various abiotic and biotic stresses, as similar results have been shown in animal tissues.

Recently In animals, endogenous carbon monoxide （CO）, like nitric oxlde, was implicated as another Important physiological messenger or bioactive molecule. However, little information is known about the physlologlcal roles of CO in the whole plant. In the present study, we report that different concentrations of the 130 donor hematin （0.1, 1.0 and 10.0 μmol/l） alleviated wheat （Tilticum aestivum l. Yangmai 158） seed germination Inhlbltlon caused by 250 mmol/l NaCI stress In a dose-dependent manner. These responses were also proved by the addltion of different gaseous CO aqueous solutions from 0.1% to 100.0% of saturation. Among these treatments, the effect of 1.0 μmol/l hematin and 1.0% saturation of CO aqueous solution were the most obvlous. Furthermore, compared with non-hematin treatment, the degradation of storage reserves In wheat seeds was also accelerated. Time-course analyses showed that application of hematln dose-dependently Increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, and guaiacol peroxidase activities, thus decreasing the lipid peroxidation In germinating wheat seed subjected to salt stress. Meanwhile, the responses of hematin were specific for CO because the addition of the CO scavenger hemoglobln （0.2 g/l） blocked the various actions of 1.0 μmol/l hematin. Taken together, the results of the present study demonstrate that CO, at a low concentration, is able to attenuate the seed germlnation Inhibition produced by salinity stress and counteract the lipid peroxidation in germinating wheat seeds.

Titrimetric Study of the Solubility and Dissociation of Benzoic Acid in Water: Effect of Ionic Strength and Temperature

The apparent acid dissociation constant (kc) of benzoic acid in water has been determined ti-trimetrically under ionic strength values between 0.00 and 0.50 mol·l﹣1 at a range of temperatures between 16°C and 41°C. The thermodynamic dissociation constant (as pka) of benzoic acid was determined as 4.176 at 25°C. No regular correlation between pka of benzoic acid and the temperature in the range was used. The values of pka are inversely proportional to temperatures between 16°C and 30°C. In this range of temperature, the values of thermodynamic quantities () for the dissociation process of benzoic acid in water were calculated by using Van’t Hoff plot. For this case the dissociation was not favoured through entropy and enthalpy changes. The values of pka are directly proportional to temperatures between 30°C and 41°C.

Energy restriction is defined as reducing nutrient intake without dragging the organism into malnutrition. Energy restriction is preferred because it is a non-genetic intervention that increases life expectancy. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide （NAD+） and adenosine monophosphate （AMP） levels， which are the indicators of intracellular energy deficiency， increase with energy restriction. The increase in NAD;level stimulates sirtuin （SIRT） enzymes， and the increase in AMP level stimulates AMP-activated protein kinase （AMPk）. Various mechanisms are regulated by stimulating these enzymes. By Forkhead box O （FoxO） transcription factors， the ability of resistance to oxidative stress increases， and antioxidant genes， DNA repair， and autophagy genes are stimulated. Apoptosis is induced by stimulation of the p53 protein， and tumor growth is suppressed by the disruption of aging cells. The suppression of PI3k / Akt， and therefore mTOR signal stimulates autophagy and mitophagia， and cleanses damaged cells and organelles. Mitochondrial biogenesis is stimulated， antioxidant capacity increases， and inflammatory response decreases. Adipose tissue and lipid metabolism are regulated by the regulation of fatty acid synthesis and oxidation. As a consequence， the effects of caloric restriction on cellular metabolism are regulated through the genetic pathways.

The presence of genes encoding organellar proteins in different cellular compartments necessitates a tight coordination of expression by the different genomes of the eukaryotic cell. This coordination of gene expression is achieved by organelle-to-nucleus or retrograde communication. Stress-induced perturbations of the tetrapyrrole pathway trigger large changes in nuclear gene expression in plants. Recently, we identified HSP90 proteins as ligands of the pu- tative plastid signal Mg-ProtolX. In order to investigate whether the interaction between HSP90 and Mg-ProtolX is bio- logically relevant, we produced transgenic lines with reduced levels of cytosolic HSP90 in wild-type and gun5 backgrounds. Our work reveals that HSP90 proteins respond to the tetrapyrrole-mediated plastid signal to control expres- sion of photosynthesis-associated nuclear genes （PhANG） during the response to oxidative stress. We also show that the hy5 mutant is insensitive to tetrapyrrole accumulation and that Mg-ProtolX, cytosolic HSP90, and HY5 are all part of the same signaling pathway. These findings suggest that a regulatory complex controlling gene expression that includes HSP90 proteins and a transcription factor that is modified by tetrapyrroles in response to changes in the environment is evolutionarily conserved between yeast and plants.

Comprehensive evaluation of 20 pomegranate(Punica granatum l.) cultivars in China

Recent investigations on pomegranate products have significantly increased and successfully drawn consumers’ attention to nutritional and medicinal values, promoting the pomegranate industry’s development worldwide. However, little information on pomegranates grown in China is available. Morphological and chemical characterizations of fruits and arils from 20 pomegranate cultivars in six regions of China were investigated. Combined with overall scores by principal component analysis, ‘Yushiliu No. 1’, ‘Taishanhong No. 2’, ‘Tunisia’ and ‘Mollar’ were promising cultivars, and Chinese researchers bred the first two. It was surprising that ‘Mollar’ had bigger fruit size and more aril moisture grown in China than in Spain. Cultivars with higher anthocyanin content in arils were ‘Turkey’, ‘Moyu’ and ‘Red Angel’, which might be used as the source of natural red food colourants. While red husk ‘Hongruyi’ and ‘Hongshuangxi’ with higher vitamin C, aril moisture and lower titratable acid in arils, might also be promising cultivars for further various utilization. Furthermore, the comparison of ‘Tunisia’ fruits from four regions revealed that cultivation locations had more influence on fruit traits than genotypes. Maturity index classification was established for Chinese pomegranate cultivars. Therefore, the results would provide a valuable guide for agricultural cultivation, industrial utilization, and breeding.
