Tensile deformation behavior and mechanical properties of a bulk cast Al0.9 CoFeNi2 eutectic high-entropy alloy

In this study,a new Al0.9CoFeNi2 eutectic high entropy alloy(EHEA) was designed,and the microstructures as well as the deformation behavior were *** bulk cast Al0.9CoFeNi2 EHEA exhibited an order face-centered cubic FCC(L12) and an order body-centered cubic(B2) dual-phase lamellar eutectic *** volume fractions of FCC(L12) and B2 phases are measured to be 60 % and 40 %,*** combination of the soft and ductile FCC(L12) phase together with the hard B2 phase resulted in superior strength of 1005 MPa and ductility as high as 6.2 % in tension at room *** Al0.9CoFeNi2 EHEA exhibited obvious three-stage work hardening characteristics and high workhardening *** evolving dislocation substructure s during uniaxial tensile deformation found that planar slip dominates in both FCC(L12) and B2 phases,and the FCC(L12) phase is easier to deform than the B2 *** post-deformation transmission electron microscopy revealed that the sub-structural evolution of the FCC(L12) phase is from planar dislocations to bending dislocations,high-density dislocations,dislocation network,and then to dislocation walls,and Taylor lattices,while the sub-structural evolution of the B2 phase is from a very small number of short dislocations to a number of planar ***,obvious ductile fracture in the FCC(L12) phase and a brittle-like fracture in the B2 phase were observed on the fracture surface of the Al0.9CoFeNi2 *** re search results provide some insight into the microstructure-property relationship.

Improving the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 via hybridizing with graphene

In this paper an improvement in the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 was carried out via hybridizing with ***-TiO2（GR-TiO2/nanocomposites with different weight addition ratios of graphene oxide（GO）have been prepared via a facile microwave irradiation of GO and tetrabutyl titanate in isopropyl *** spectroscopy（RS）,X-ray diffraction（XRD）,scanning electron microscopy（SEM）,transmission electron microscopy（TEM）,UV–visible spectroscopy（UV–vis）,Fourier transform infrared spectra（FTIR）,energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy（EDX）and photoluminescence spectra（PL）are employed to determine the properties of the *** irradiation can heat the reactant to a higher temperature in a short time,simultaneously GO is reduced to graphene and TiO2 nanoparticles grown on the surface of ***-TiO2 nanocomposites synthesized via this approach have efficient electron conductivity in GR,resulting in a reduced electron–hole recombination *** the synthesized nanocomposites,GT-8wt% exhibited the best photocatalytic activity toward photocatalytic degradation of *** current work provides a new insight for the fabrication of GR-TiO2 nanocomposites within a short reaction time and also explains the mechanism of photocatalysis employing radical and hole scavengers.

Diagnostic performance of C-reactive protein level and its role as a potential biomarker of severe dengue in adults

Objective: To determine the relationship between C-reactive protein(CRP) level and the severity of dengue and the potential use of CRP in predicting acute dengue ***: A prospective observational study was performed on dengue patients admitted to a tertiary care hospital in southern India. All patients of age above 18 years, diagnosed with dengue were included in the study. The detailed laboratory parameters pertaining to dengue were recorded. CRP levels were estimated and compared between groups i.e. severe and non-severe dengue. CRP cut-off value was detected using the receiver-operator ***: Totally 98 patients with a mean age of 40 years were included. Among them, 11.2% of the patients suffered from severe dengue, 54.1% of the cases had non-severe dengue without warning signs, and 34.7% had non-severe dengue with warning signs. The median CRP was significantly higher in patients with severe dengue compared to patients with non-severe dengue(96.2 mg/d L vs. 5.3 mg/d L). Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that the odd’s ratio(OR) of CRP was 1.053(P≤0.001, 95% CI=1.029-1.078). CRP at a cutoff value of 21.6 mg/L(0.929 AUC) had excellent sensitivity(100%) and specificity(81.6%) in predicting severe dengue infection. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that CRP(OR=1.089, P=0.013) and ALT(OR=1.010, P=0.034) were statistically significant independent predictors of dengue ***: CRP level could be used as a potential biomarker to predict severity of dengue in adults.

Which intensities, types, and patterns of movement behaviors are most strongly associated with cardiometabolic risk factors among children?

Purpose:The purpose of this study was to determine which intensities,patterns,and types of 24-h movement behaviors are most strongly associated with cardiometabolic risk factors among ***:A total of 369 children aged 1013 years were *** wore an Actical accelerometer and a Garmin Forerunner 220 Global Positioning System logger and completed an activity and sleep log for 7 *** from these instruments were combined to estimate average minute per day spent in 14 intensities,11 types,and 14 patterns of *** mass index,resting heart rate,and systolic blood pressure values were combined to create a cardiometabolic risk factor *** least squares regression analysis was used to examine associations between the 39 movement behavior characteristics and the cardiometabolic risk factor *** variable importance in projection(VIP)values were used to determine and rank important movement behavior *** was evidence of interaction by biological maturity,and the analyses were conducted separately in the 50%least mature and 50%most mature ***:For the least biologically mature participants,fifteen of the 39 movement behavior characteristics had important VIP value scores;eight of these reflected movement intensities(particularly moderate and vigorous intensities),six reflected movement patterns,and one reflected a movement *** the most mature participants,thirteen of the 39 movement behavior characteristics had important VIP value scores,with five reflecting intensities(particularly moderate and vigorous intensities),five reflecting patterns,and three reflecting types of ***:More than 12 movement behavior characteristics were associated with cardiometabolic risk factors within both the most and least mature *** intensities within the moderate and vigorous intensity ranges were the most consistent correlates of these risk factors.

One-pot synthesis of poly vinyl alcohol(PVA) supported silver nanoparticles and its efficiency in catalytic reduction of methylene blue

Stable silver nanoparticles were synthesized using polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） as reducing and capping agent. The method of steric stabilization was adopted for the incorporation of silver nanoparticles in the polymer matrix. The successful incorporation of silver nanoparticles in a PVA matrix was confirmed by UV–Visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） spectroscopy. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized by a peak at 426 nm in the UV–Vis spectrum. TEM studies showed the formation of spherical shaped silver nanoparticles of 10-13 nm, following the reduction by UV irradiation. Catalytic properties were studied by means of UV-Visible spectroscopic analysis. The synthesized silver nanoparticles exhibited good catalytic properties in the reduction of methylene blue.

In this paper, a rainfall-runoff modeling system is developed based on a nonlinear Volterra functional series and a hydrological conceptual modeling approach. Two models, i.e. the time-variant gain model (TVGM) and the distributed time-variant gain model (DTVGM) that are built on the platform of Digital Elevation Model (DEM), Remote Sensing (RS) and Unit Hydro-logical Process were proposed. The developed DTVGM model was applied to two cases in the Heihe River Basin that is located in the arid and semiarid region of northwestern China and the Chaobai River basin located in the semihumid region of northern China. The results indicate that, in addition to the classic dynamic differential approach to describe nonlinear processes in hy-drological systems, it is possible to study such complex processes through the proposed sys-tematic approach to identify prominent hydrological relations. The DTVGM, coupling the advan-tages of both nonlinear and distributed hydrological models, can simulate variant hydrological processes under different environment conditions. Satisfactory results were obtained in fore-casting the time-space variations of hydrological processes and the relationships between land use/cover change and surface runoff variation.

Sperm immobilization activity of Allium sativum L. and other plant extracts

Aim: To identify possible spermicidal agents through screening a number of edible medicinal plants with antimicrobial activity. Methods: Initial screening was made on the basis of ram cauda epididymal sperm immobilization immediately after addition of extracts. The most potent extract was selected and was evaluated on both ram and human spermatozoa. To unravel its mode of action several sperm functional tests were carried out, namely viability of cells, hypo-osmotic swelling test for membrane integrity and assays of membrane-bound enzyme 5'-nucleotidase and acrosomal marker enzyme acrosin. Results: The crude aqueous extract of the bulb of Allium sativum L. showed the most promising results by instant immobilization of the ram epididymal sperm at 0.25 g/mL and human ejaculated sperm at 0.5 g/mL. Sperm immobilizing effects were irreversible and the factor of the extract responsible for immobilization was thermostable up to 90 癈. On boiling at 100 癈 for 10 minutes, this activity was markedly reduced. Moreover, this extract was able to cause aggregation of ram sperms into small clusters after 30 minutes of incubation at 37 癈. However this property was not found in human spermatozoa. More than 50 % reduction in sperm viability and hypo-osmotic swelling occurred in treated sperm as compared with the controls, indicating the possibility of plasma membrane disintegration which was further supported by the significant reduction in the activity of membrane bound 5'-nucleotidase and acrosomal acrosin. Conclusion: The crude aqueous extract of A. sativum bulb possesses spermicidal activity in vitro.

Evaluating pixel-based ***-based image analysis approaches for lithological discrimination using VNIR data of WorldView-3

The object-based against pixel-based image analysis approaches were assessed for lithological mapping in a geologically complex terrain using Visible Near Infrared(VNIR)bands of WorldView-3(WV-3)satellite *** study area is Hormuz Island,southern Iran,a salt dome composed of dominant sedimentary and igneous *** performing the object-based image analysis(OBLA)approach,the textural and spectral characteristics of lithological features were analyzed by the use of support vector machine(SVM)***,in the pixelbased image analysis(PBIA),the spectra of lithological end-members,extracted from imagery,were used through the spectral angle mapper(SAM)*** test samples were used in a confusion matrix to assess the accuracy of classification methods *** showed that OBIA was capable of lithological mapping with an overall accuracy of 86.54%which was 19.33%greater than the accuracy of *** also reduced the salt-and-pepper artifact pixels and produced a more realistic map with sharper lithological *** research showed limitations of pixel-based method due to relying merely on the spectral characteristics of rock types when applied to high-spatial-resolution VNIR bands of WorldView-3 *** is concluded that the application of an object-based image analysis approach obtains a more accurate lithological classification when compared to a pixel-based image analysis algorithm.

An Initiative Learning Algorithm Based on System Uncertainty

Initiative-learning algorithms are characterized by and hence advantageousfor their independence of prior domain knowledge. Usually, their induced results could moreobjectively express the potential characteristics and patterns of information ***-learning processes can be effectively conducted by system uncertainty, becauseuncertainty is an intrinsic common feature of and also an essential link between information systemsand their induced results. Obviously, the effectiveness of such initiative-learning framework isheavily dependent on the accuracy of system uncertainty measurements. Herein, a more reasonablemethod for measuring system uncertainty is developed based on rough set theory and the conception ofinformation entropy; then a new algorithm is developed on the bases of the new system uncertaintymeasurement and the Skowron's algorithm for mining prepositional default decision rules. Theproposed algorithm is typically initiative-learning. It is well adaptable to system uncertainty. Asshown by simulation experiments, its comprehensive performances are much better than those ofcongeneric algorithms.
