The global energy crisis is increasing the demand for innovative materials with high purity and functionality for the development of clean energy production and *** development of novel photo-and electrocatalysts significantly depends on synthetic techniques that facilitate the production of tailored advanced *** emerging use of pulsed laser in liquid synthesis has attracted immense interest as an effective synthetic technology with several advantages over conventional chemical and physical synthetic routes,including the fine-tuning of size,composition,surface,and crystalline structures,and defect densities and is associated with the catalytic,electronic,thermal,optical,and mechanical properties of the produced ***,we present an overview of the fundamental understanding and importance of the pulsed laser process,namely various roles and mechanisms involved in the production of various types of nanomaterials,such as metal nanoparticles,oxides,non-oxides,and carbon-based *** mainly cover the advancement of photo-and electrocatalytic nanomaterials via pulsed laser-assisted technologies with detailed mechanistic insights and structural optimization along with effective catalytic performances in various energy and environmental remediation ***,the future directions and challenges of pulsed laser techniques are briefly *** review can exert practical guidance for the future design and fabrication of innovative pulsed laser-induced nanomaterials with fascinating properties for advanced catalysis applications.

A comprehensive study on butanolysis of furfuryl alcohol to butyl levulinate using tungstated zirconia and sulfonated carbon catalysts

This work presents the formation of butyl levulinate,a potential fuel additive,and an excellent renewable chemical obtained by the butanolysis of furfuryl alcohol(FAL)over a solid acid *** butanolysis of furfuryl alcohol reaction is a strong function of acidity for which tungstated zirconia(WO_(3)-ZrO_(2)),a robust solid acid catalyst,and a sulfonated carbon catalyst were employed to produce high yields of butyl levulinate targeting a lower initial molar ratio of butanol to FAL.A maximum of 28 mol%yield of butyl levulinate was obtained with tungstated zirconia *** prepared sulfonated carbon catalyst at high reaction temperatures facilitated the complete conversion of reaction intermediate,2-butoxymethylfuran(2-BMF)through which butyl levulinate was formed,and as high as 80 mol%of butyl levulinate yield was produced at an initial mole ratio of 8.5:1 of butanol to *** better results of sulfonated carbon catalyst could be attributed to the presence of-SO3H,carboxylic acid,and phenolic OH groups on the carbon surface.

Cofactor engineering in cyanobacteria to overcome imbalance between NADPH and NADH： A mini review

Cyanobacteria can produce useful renewable fuels and high-value chemicals using sunlight and atmo- spheric carbon dioxide by photosynthesis. Genetic manip- ulation has increased the variety of chemicals that cyanobacteria can produce. However, their uniquely abundant NADPH-pool, in other words insufficient supply of NADH, tends to limit their production yields in case of utilizing NADH-dependent enzyme, which is quite common in heterotrophic microbes. To overcome this cofactor imbalance and enhance cyanobacterial fuel and chemical production, various approaches for cofactor engineering have been employed. In this review, we focus on three approaches：（1） utilization of NADPH- dependent enzymes, （2） increasing NADH production, and （3） changing cofactor specificity of NADH-dependent enzymes from NADH to NADPH.

Structural evolution-enabled BiFeO3 modulated by strontium doping with enhanced dielectric,optical and superparamagnetic properties by a modified sol-gel method

Multiferroic(BFO)nanoparticles doped with strontium with the general formula Bi1-xSrx FeO3(x=0,0.3,0.5,0.7)were synthesized using a modified sol-gel auto-combustion *** structural,electrical,optical,and magnetic properties of the samples are *** structural analysis,carried out using the x-ray powder diffraction technique,shows a structural transition from rhombohedral(R-3c)to cubic(Pm-3m)for the doping amount of strontium(Sr)equal to x=*** analysis of the prepared samples were carried out using scanning electron microscopy(SeM).Frequency-dependent dielectric constant and ac conductivity were *** doped samples,with improved dielectric properties,can be used to fabricate different optoelectronic *** dielectric dispersion and broad relaxation were exhibited by all the ***–Cole plots were employed as an effective tool to study the dispersion parameters,namely,the optical dielectric constant,static dielectric constant,relaxation time,and spreading *** activation energy was calculated from the relaxation peaks and Cole–Cole plots,which were found to be compatible with each *** bandgap of the samples was calculated using diffuse reflectance spectral(DRS)*** and strong photoluminescence in the IR region was observed in the samples,similar to ZnO,which was reported for the first ***-temperature and low-temperature magnetization studies point towards the superparamagnetic nature of the samples,with an improvement in magnetic properties with *** antiferromagnetic behavior of bulk bismuth ferrite transforms to superparamagnetic in nature for both pure and Sr-substituted bismuth ferrite nanoparticles due to the close dimensions of crystallite size with magnetic domains leading to the break-down of the frustrated spin cycloidal moment.

Fabrication of Biomimetic Transparent and Flexible Pectin/PeG Composite Film for Temperature Sensing Applications

In the field of robotics to enhance the interaction with humans in real-time and in the bioengineering field to develop prosthetic devices, the need for artificial skin is in high demand. In this work, the hydrogen-bonded complex network structure of the Pectin/PeG composite has been designed, resulting in the free-standing film functioning as a temperature-sensing device. With the gelation technique and the addition of PeG, the film’s flexibility and conductivity were enhanced. The fabricated device worked at a low voltage of 1 V supply with high throughput. With different dimensions, three devices were fabricated, and the maximum-induced ionic current was 34 µA ± 5%. The device has an average sensitivity of 1.3–2.7 µA/°C over the range of 30 °C to 42 °C. The device's fastest response time to sense the temperature change was 2 s ± 5%. The present device exhibits good stability for a long duration of time. These pectin/PeG films can be used as biomimetic skin to improve the efficiency in sensing the temperature.

Sub-stand diameter distribution types vary along an old-growth Douglas-fir chronosequence into the horizontal diversification development stage

Managing mature Douglas-fir[Pseudotsuga menziesii(Mirb.)Franco]stands to emulate the structural complexity of natural old-growth forest requires identifying structural targets at the sub-stand level at which neighborhood dynamics and patchy disturbance shape *** therefore sought to describe the archetypal shapes of predominant sub-stand diameter distribution types(DDTs)observed in natural tree neighborhoods in stands comprising a chronosequence(ca.120-450+yrs)encompassing mature,vertical diversification,and horizontal diversification development *** ten 1.0 ha stands are located in the southcentral Oregon Cascades,*** on the known spatial position of each tree,natural tree neighborhoods were identified using the floating neighborhood approach based on spatial tessellation connecting neighboring trees at the first-(mean 61 m2)through fifth-(mean 2058 m2)order *** analysis was then used to objectively identify the most predominant DDTs among the relative tree size distributions observed in the trans-scale neighborhoods within each *** measures regression was used to classify each DDT to one of six observed archetypal shapes:negative exponential,unimodal,rotated sigmoid,bimodal,concave,or *** three of the 81 observed DDTs deviated bye stand average,while every stand had at least one DDT that deviated by>50%(maximum 83%).Within each stand,five to ten predominant DDTs were observed,which deviated from the stand average by 30-48%and were characterized by two to five different archetypal ***,in some stands the majority of tree neighborhoods were best characterized by a different shape from that assigned at the stand *** from the stand average increased from the youngest stand in the mature development stage through the middle stands in the vertical diversification stage to the oldest stands in the horizontal diversification *** complexity of DDT shapes tended to increas

Large-area polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)films with variably sized moth-eye structures were fabricated to improve the efficiency of perovskite solar *** approach that incorporated photolithography,bilayer PDMS deposition and replication was used in the fabrication *** simply attaching the moth-eye PDMS films to the transparent substrates of perovskite solar cells,the optical properties of the devices could be tuned by changing the size of the moth-eye *** device with 300-nm moth-eye PDMS films greatly enhanced power conversion efficiency of ~21 % due to the antireflective effect of the moth-eye ***,beautiful coloration was observed on the 1000-nm moth-eye PDMS films through optical interference caused by the diffraction grating *** results imply that moth-eye PDMS films can greatly enhance the efficiency of perovskite solar cells and building-integrated photovoltaics.

Community detection in social networks is a hard problem because of the size,and the need of a deep understanding of network structure and *** several methods with significant effort in this direction have been devised,an outstanding open problem is the unknown number of communities,it is generally believed that the role of influential nodes that are surrounded by neighbors is very *** addition,the similarity among nodes inside the same cluster is greater than among nodes from other ***,the global and local methods of community detection have been getting more ***,in this study,we propose an advanced communitydetection model for social networks in order to identify network communities based on global and local *** proposed model initially detects the most influential nodes by using an eigen score then performs local expansion powered by label *** process is conducted with the same color till nodes reach maximum ***,the communities are formed,and a clear community graph is displayed to the *** proposed model is completely parameter-free,and therefore,no prior information is required,such as the number of communities,*** perform simulations and experiments using well-known synthetic and real network benchmarks,and compare them with well-known state-of-the-art *** results prove that our model is efficient in all aspects,because it quickly identifies communities in the ***,it can easily be used for friendship recommendations or in business recommendation systems.

Influence of the wastewater composition on denitrification and biological P-removal in the S-DN-P process: (c) Dissolved and undissolved substrates

The denitdfication and P-removal in the sorption-denitrification-P-removal （S-DN-P） process were carded out under various wastewater compositions. It is noted that P-removal largely depends on the wastewater composition as well to the quantity of the substrates present in wastewater fraction. Three different wastewater fractions are obtained as： raw wastewater, dissolved wastewater （obtained with filtration using 0.45 μm filter）, and undissolved wastewater （i.e., infiltrate obtained by above filtration）. The ratio of P-release/CODtotal-consumption clearly inferred that undissolved wastewater possess very low value i.e., 0.0008 followed by raw wastewater 0.008 and dissolved wastewater 0.03. When this ratio was nearby 0.01, enhanced P-removal was observed. Moreover, the ratio of P-uptake to NO3^--N decomposition for raw wastewater was two times for dissolved wastewater. Interestingly, it was observed that the P-removal and denitrification depend not only on the dissolved substrates but also the undissolved substrates present in the wastewater. The result of the P-removal obtained with this S-DN-P process did not show a big difference of 36%, 34% and 30%, respectively, for raw, dissolved and undissolved wastewater.
