Lymphocyte phenotypes in wild-caught rats suggest potential mechanisms underlying increased immune sensitivity in post-industrial environments

The immune systems of wild rats and of laboratory rats can been utilized as models of the human immune system in pre-industrial and post-industrial societies, respectively. In this study, lymphocyte phenotypes in wild rats were broadly characterized, and the results were compared to those obtained by us and by others using cells derived from various strains of laboratory rats. Although not expected, the production of regulatory T cells was not apparently different in wild rats compared to laboratory rats. On the other hand, differences in expression of markers involved in complement regulation, adhesion, signaling and maturation suggest increased complement regulation and decreased sensitivity in wild-caught rats compared to laboratory rats, and point toward complex differences between the maturation of T cells. The results potentially lend insight into the pathogenesis of post-industrial epidemics of allergy and autoimmune disease.

By an elementary proof, we use a result of Conway and Dudziak to show that if A is a hyponormal operator with spectral radius r（A） such that its spectrum is the closed disc {z：｜z｜ ≤ r（A）} then A is reflexive. Using this result, we give a simple proof of a result of Bercovici, Foias, and Pearcy on reflexivity of shift operators. Also, it is shown that every power of an invertible bilateral weighted shift is reflexive.

The direct impact excitations of ground-state hydrogen atoms by protons and antiprotons are investigated by using an impact parameter treatment. The calculations are performed within the solution of the coupled differential equations arising from the one-center atomic-orbital close-coupling approach as well as the impact parameter version of the first and second Born approximations. We have considered calculations that allow couplings to the n=1-5 states （up to g sub-levels） of the target atom as well as others, which neglect the effect of all states other than the initial and final states of the target atom. The sensitivity of the cross sections to the charge of the projectile is studied. The calculated cross sections are compared with those obtained by previous theoretical and experimental results.

Infantile hemangioma and burn hemangioma have many similarities in clinical pictures, pathology and treatment. As infantile hemangioma appears usually after birth and then rapidly grow within few months and then a statue state and then involutes within few years while burn hemangioma so called burn pyogenic granuloma usually appears within days after burn with liquid and grow rapidly into many giant angiomatous masses and then after short time usually weeks or months will involute in more than 37.5% of cases. Hence burn hemangioma and infantile hemangioma sharing many similar features as both are angiomatous with dramatic rapid proliferation of blood vessels that followed by involution but with different time periods and both carry CD133 and CD34 for infantile hemangioma and CD34 for burn hemangioma. Also infantile hemangioma rapidly responds to systemic propranolol and similarly do in cases of burn hemangioma. Accordingly it is more better scientifically to call scalded pyogenic granuloma burn hemangioma. The objective of the present report is to review these conditions and do comparison between them and also to record 6 cases of burn hemangioma and its effective therapy with oral propranolol.

For an n-variable Boolean function, there are 2n fixed polarity Reed-Muller(FPRM) forms. In this paper, a frame of power dissipation estimation for FPRM functions ispresented and the polarity conversion is introduced to minimize the power for FPRM *** on searching the best polarity for low power dissipation, an optimal algorithm is proposedand implemented in C. The algorithm is tested on seven single output functions from MCNCbenchmark circuits. The experimental results are shown in this paper.

The hemolysin oligomer promotes the proliferation of B-1a cells and the expression of CD25, which is indicative of cell activation, on B-1a cells. The upregulation of CD86 induced by the oligomer showed its selective bias for the B7-2 member of B7 family while the monomer failed to induce these effects. The oligomer induced the expression of CXCR3, associated with B cell activation, while the monomer induced the expression of CXCL4, a powerful angiostatic chemokine. In conclusion, we found that B-1a cells responded to the apoptogenic monomer by expressing CXCL4, whereas oligomerization of the immunogen induced CXCR3 to shift the response towards activation.
