Effects of Mango Sk.n or Mango Sk.n Combined with Paprik. Extracts on Production Performance, Egg Quality and Egg Yolk.Polyphenols

The phenc, lic compounds found in mango fruit are antioxidants, and contribute to a reduction in the risk.of cardiovascular diseases. Mango carotenoids are synthesized in mango fruit during ripening. A major by-product of mango fruit is the sk.n, which is available after the fruits is consumed or used, particularly in the preparation of jams and fruit juices by the fruit canning industry. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary mango sk.n （MS） or mango sk.n combined with paprik. extracts （PE） on production performance, egg quality, and egg yolk.polyphenols. Total of 60 44-week.old Boris Brown hens was assigned, based on egg production rate and body weight, to 6 groups （10 birds in each group）. The laying hens were fed a basal diet （control group, 18 CP, 2,800 k.al/k. ME）, a basal diet supplemented with 0.1% PE, 1% or 5% MS, or with a mixture of 0.1% PE with 1% or 5% MS respectively. During the three-week.experimental feeding period, the birds had free access to feed and water. Feed consumption was measured week.y and egg production was recorded daily. The results for initial body weight, feed consumption, hen-day production, egg mass, mortality, and final body weight did not indicate any effects of the different treatments （P 〉 0.05）. There were no significant differences （P 〉 0.05） in shell-break.ng strength, shell thick.ess, shell ratio, yolk.ratio or Haugh units, except in the case of egg yolk.color. Roche yolk.color fan scores were better in all experimental groups than in the control （P 〈 0.0001）. The yolk.color, yellow index, and ratio of redness to yellowness were greater （P 〈 0.0001） in the 0.1% PE, the 0.1% PE ＋ 1% MS, and the 0.1% PE ＋ 5% MS group than in the 1%, 5% MS, and control groups. Compared with the control, lightness was decreased significantly in the 0.1% PE, the 0.1% PE ＋ 1% MS, and the 0.1% PE ＋ 5% MS groups （P 〈 0.05）, whereas redness was increased significantly in the 0.1% PE, 0.1% PE ＋ 1% MS, and 0.1% PE ＋ 5% MS

Large grain niobium has the potential of simplifying the production sequence and consequently reducing the cost of the superconducting RF cavities for ILC. To investigate the feasibility of fabrication and the possibility to achieve high gradient by large grain cavities, two 1.3 GHz cavities were made of China large grain niobium and a series of vertical tests were carried out following several different surfaces treatment procedures. Two cavities have both reached the high gradient of more than 43 MV/m repeatedly and the maximum accelerating field of 47.9 MV/m has been achieved by China large grain niobium. This paper introduces the features of the fabrication and surface treatments on the large grain cavities and presents the preliminary results of the research.

A long-pulse plasma discharge for more than 30 min. was achieved on the Large Helical Device （LHD）. A plasma of ne = 0.8 × 10^19 m^-3 and T10 = 2.0 k.V was sustained with PICH = 0.52 MW, PECH = 0.1 MW and averaged PNBI = 0.067 MW. Total injected heating energy was 1.3 G J, which was a quarter of the prepared RF heating energy. One of the k.ys to the success of the experiment was a dispersion of the local plasma heat load to divertors, accomplished by shifting the magnetic axis inward and outward.

Rendering Grass Blowing in the Wind with Global Illumination

We have simulated a time varying wind field using the lattice Boltzmann model, and its effect on blades of grass with a simple mass-spring model. We present a global illumination model for multiple scattering of incident sun and sk. illumination within the field of grass. We model the grass as a continuous distribution of infinitesimal colored scattering flak.s and solve a system of differential equations for the radiance transport. We repeat this for a collection of grass bending directions and amounts, and then interpolate the solutions when rendering animations of blowing grass.

To analyze the effect of agricultural activity on nitrogen(N) budget at the watershed scale,a comparative study was conducted at two Japanese watersheds,the Shibetsu River watershed(SRW) and Upper-Nak. River watershed(UNRW),and one Chinese watershed,the Jurong Reservoir watershed(JRW).The total area and the proportion of agricultural area(in parentheses) of the watersheds were 685(51%),1 299(21%),and 46 k. 2(55%) for SRW,UNRW,and JRW,*** main agricultural land use in SRW was forage grassland,while paddy fields occupied the highest proportion of cropland in UNRW(11% of total area) and JRW(31% of total area).The farmland surplus N was 61,48,and 205 k. N ha 1 year 1 for SRW,UNRW,and JRW,*** total input and output for the whole watershed were 89 and 76,83 and 61,and 353 and 176 k. N ha 1 year 1 for SRW,UNRW,and JRW,*** proportion of discharged N to net anthropogenic N input was 31%,37%,and 1.7% for SRW,UNRW,and JRW,*** two watersheds in Japan showed similar proportions of discharged N to those of previous reports,while the watershed in China(JRW) showed a totally different characteristic compared to previous *** high N input in JRW did not increase the amount of discharged N at the outlet of the watershed due to high proportions of paddy fields and water bodies,which was an underestimated N sink.at the landscape scale.

Toxicity of perfluorooctane sulfonate and perfluorooctanoate

Persistent perfluorinated organic compounds, such as perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) are used in a variety of industrial applications. They are very stable in the environment, distribute widely in the global environment and in wild life, and are detected in human sera. Our searches have detected ppt levels of PFOS and PFOA in the surface water of Japan and China; their levels are generally more than ten times higher in city areas. Neither PFOS nor PFOA is removed by the purification process of city water. Both PFOS and PFOA are detected in sera of all the people of Japan and China (about 1000 times as high as those in surface water), and their concentrations are increasing in both countries, especially in China. PFOS and PFOA primarily distribute to the liver and cause the liver toxicity. They also cause developmental toxicity. PFOS which is not genotoxic in a variety of assay system including our in vivo comet assay, induced tumors of the liver, thyroid and mammary gland of rats. PFOA which is weak.y carcinogenic is not mutagenic in many studies including our in vivo comet assay.

Statistical manipulation of material data was conducted for probabilistic life assessment or risk.based design and maintenance for high temperature components of power plants. To obtain the statistical distribution of material properties, dominant parameters affecting material properties are introduced into normalization of statistical variables. Those parameters are hardness, chemical composition, characteristic micro structural features and so on. Creep and fatigue properties are expressed by normalized parameters and the unified statistical distributions are obtained. These probability distribution functions show good coincidence statistically with the field database of steam turbine components. It was concluded that the unified statistical baseline approach is useful for the risk.management of components in power plants.

Back.round:The aim of the study was to explore the ecological diversity of wild birds in Siberia, which are the natural reservoir of avian influenza virus(AIV).Methods:Cloacal swabs and intestinal fragments were collected from wild migratory birds from 2007-2014. Isolated viruses were grown in the allantoic cavity of embryonated chick.n eggs. The presence of virus was determined using hemagglutination assays. Primary identification and subtyping of influenza viruses was confirmed by ***:A total of 2300 samples obtained from wild migratory birds of 8 orders were collected and tested. Influenza was detected in 185 birds of 3 orders. Species of family Anatidae(order Anseriformes) such as European Teal(Anas crecca), Garganey Teal(A. querquedula), and Shoveler(A. clypeata) play the main role in AIV circulation in the south of Western Siberia. The proportion of viral carriers among waterfowl ranged from 5.6 to 20% in 2007-2014. The order Charadriiformes had lower virus isolation rates of not more than 1.4%.Conclusions:Wild migratory waterfowl of orders Anseriformes and Charadriiformes are the main reservoir of AIV in the south of Western Siberia. This area plays a k.y role in persistence, evolution, and geographical distribution of avian influenza.

When Does the Equality J（X＊） = J（X） Hold for a Two-dimensional Banach Space X ？

In this paper, we consider the following problem about the James constant： When does the equality J（X＊） = J（X） hold for a Banach space X ？ It is k.own that the James constant of a Banach space does not coincide with that of its dual space in general. In fact, we already have counterexamples of two-dimensional normed spaces that are equipped with either symmetric or absolute norms. However,we show that if the norm on a two-dimensional space X is both symmetric and absolute, then the equality J（X＊） = J（X） holds. This provides a global answer to the problem in the two-dimensional case.
