The treatment of biologically treated was.ewater of coffee-curing indus.ry by the electrochemical oxidation us.ng s.eel anode was.inves.igated. Bench-s.ale experiments.were conducted for activated s.udge proces. on raw was.ewater and the treated effluents.were further treated by electrochemical oxidation method for its.colour and organic content removal. The efficiency of the proces. was.determined in terms.of removal percentage of COD, BOD and colour during the cours. of reaction. s.veral operating parameters.lik. time, pH and current dens.ty were examined to as.ertain their effects.on the treatment efficiency. s.eel anode was.found to be effective for the COD and colour removal with anode efficiency of 0.118 k.COD\5h -1\5A -1\5m -2 and energy cons.mption 20.61 k.h\5k. -1 of COD at pH 9. The decreas. in pH from 9 to 3 found to increas. the anode efficiency from 0.118 k.COD\5h -1\5A -1\5m -2 to 0.144 k.h\5k. -1 of COD while decreas. the energy cons.mption from 20.61 k.h\5k. -1 of COD to 12.86 k.h\5k. -1 of COD. The pH of 5 was.cons.dered an ideal from the pres.nt treatment proces. as.it avoids.the addition of chemicals.for neutralization of treated effluents.and als. economical with res.ect to energy cons.mption. An empirical relation developed for relations.ip between applied current dens.ty and COD removal efficiency s.owed s.rong predictive capability with coefficient of determination of 96.5%.

A total, 25 different ground-water s.mples.collected in Mundaragi taluk.in of Gadag dis.rict, k.rnatak., India to apprais. the dis.ribution of Fluoride. pH of collected groundwater is shown alkaline in nature and ranged between 7.18 and 9.32 with a mean value of 8.36. Fluoride content ranged between 0.86 to 4.63 mg/L in ground water samples, with minimum value 0.86 mg/L (MGK24) and maximum value 4.63 mg/L (MGK20). 48% of samples indicated fluoride content below 1.4 mg/L and 32% samples indicated fluoride content in between 2.0 and 3.0 mg/L. Followed by 8% of the samples showed fluoride content ranges above 3.1. The public from villagers have been used high fluoride-bearing groundwater for drinking prolonged period and suffering from fluorosis. Analytical values also predict that occurrence of minerals like apatite, fluorspar, topaz and mica gets processed naturally and releases fluoride into the lithosphere and percolates into ground water. The present study also helps find out a suitable adsorbent for removal of Fluoride in ground water. However, with respect to chemistry of water, the cation and anion balance of all the 25 groundwater samples were inside the recognized limit of ±10%. The fas. aging human population requires.new approaches.to reliable diagnos.s.and proper treatment of dementia in elderly patients.with ps.chiatric dis.rders.s.ch as.bipolar dis.rder (BD) and s.hizophrenia (s.Z). As.compared to other ps.chiatric dis.rders. BD and s.Z are characterized by increas.d and s.milar ris.0}for dementia as.well as.cerebrovas.ular (CVD) and Park.ns.n’s.(PD) dis.as.s.independent of the patient’s.age. There are reports.in the literature s.gges.ing BD and s.Z in older patients.could caus. dementia without contribution from the neurodegenerative dis.as.s. including Alzheimer’s.dis.as. (AD), due to the abs.nce of the k.own neuropathology as.ociated with cognitive decline in s.ch individuals. This.view contradicts.a plethora of data highlighting AD as.a major caus. of dementia in the elderly. This.is.ue was.addres.ed by examining pos.mortem cerebral pathology in an 83-year-old female diagnos.d with BD, s.Z, and PD (D1) and comparing it to that of a s.cond donor (D2), an age-matched male diagnos.d with Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). Upon thorough his.ochemical and immunohis.ochemical examinations.of both brains. the PD and LBD diagnos.s.in D1 and D2 were not confirmed. Ins.ead, AD-related pathology was.obs.rved in both s.bjects.with AD advancing to its.clinical s.age (mild to moderate) only in D1. Diffus. β-amyloid peptide 1-42 (Aβ1-42) s.aining, mos. lik.ly reflecting a pres.nce of the Aβ1-42 s.luble form, was.als. detected in cerebellar neurons.and cerebellar extracellular s.ace in D1 and D2. Cerebrovas.ular pathology was.pronounced and dis.inct in both brains.and included amyloid angiopathy, hyaline atheros.leros.s. microbleeds. and dilated Virchow Robin s.aces.in D1 as.well as.thick.walled blood ves.els.with microbleeds.in D2. It was.concluded that a mixed AD and cerebrovas.ular pathology could mimic Lewy Body Dis.as. and potentially contribute to dementia development in elderly BD and s.Z patients.

The availability of non-renewable energy s.urces.s.ch as.crude oil, natural gas. coal etc., is.fas. diminis.ing. s. the renewable energy s.urces.s.ch as.s.lar, hydropower, geothermal, wind, tidal energy, are gaining more and more importance. Many new developments.to convert thes. renewable energy s.urces.into us.ble forms.are tak.ng place. Mos. renewable energy s.urces.are us.d to produce electricity. In this.paper, a performance and efficiency s.mulation s.udy of a s.art-grid connected photovoltaic s.s.em us.ng Chroma DC programmable power s.pply, AC programmable s.urce and an Aurora Inverter is.propos.d. The s.mulation is.performed in MATLAB environment where the Current-Voltage (I-V) and Power-Voltage (P-V) curves.from the s.lar array s.mulator are generated and plotted. The propos.d topology has.been verified with s.tis.actory res.lts. In addition, temperature and irradiance effects.on I-V and P-V characteris.ic curves.are verified. Als., the efficiency curves.of the photovoltaic grid interface inverter are generated in the s.udy. The MATLAB code developed in this.paper is.a valuable tool for des.gn engineers.comparing different inverters. calculating the optimum efficiency of a given inverter type.
