Rare earth europium（Eu（3＋））-doped lithium tetraborate（Eu：Li_2B_4O_7） crystal is grown from its stoichiometric melt by microtube Czochralsk. pulling technique（μT-Cz） for the first time. The grown crystals are subjected to powder x-ray diffraction（PXRD） analysis which reveals the tetragonal crystal structure of the crystals. UV–vis–NIR spectral analysis is carried out to study the optical characteristics of the grown crystals. The crystal is transparent in the entire visible region, and the lower cutoff is observed to be at 304 nm. The existence of BO_3 and BO_4 bonding structure and the molecular associations are analyzed by Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy. The results of excitation and emission-photoluminescence spectra of europium ion incorporated in lithium tetraborate（LTB） single crystal reveal that the observations of peak. at 258,297, and 318 nm in the excitation spectra and peak. at 579, 591, 597, 613, and 651 nm are observed in the emission *** chromaticity coordinates are calculated from the emission spectra, and the emission intensity of the grown crystal is characterized through a CIE 1931（Commission International d＇Eclairage） color chromaticity diagram.

An attempt was made to explore the scope of the bio-antioxidants in the management of symptoms of epidemic dropsy caused by argemone alk.loids, sanguinarine and dihydrosanguinarine. The study was performed on 24 randomly selected epidemic dropsy cases who consumed argemone contaminated mustard oil. On examination the cases revealed characteristic pitting edema over limbs (95.8%) accompanied by tenderness (79.2%) and diffuse erythema (95.8%). Tachycardia was present in 1/3 of the examined cases while evelated jugular venous pressure was seen in over 40% of the cases. In two of the cases, reddish-purplish blotches over lower limbs, not raised and which blanched on pressure, was an unusual feature. Chest X-ray revealed pulmonary congestion in 5 cases. ECG performed in 3 cases with severe breathlessness, showed non-specific ST-T changes most mark.d in L2,L3, avF and V2-V6 which reversed on recovery. Treatment with a combination of antioxidants, riboflavin and tocopherol showed improvement in pain in lower limbs (75%), edema (83.3%) and erythema (66.6%).

Uranium-europium mixed oxides(U_(1-y)Euy)O_(2-x)(y=0.2-0.8)were prepared by the citrate gel combustion technique and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD).Single phase fluorite structure was observed in those solid solutions with y≤*** solid solutions with y>0.6 were found to be biphasic,with the second phase being cubic *** capacity and enthalpy increment measurements were carried out by using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC)and drop calorimeter in the temperature range 298-800 k.and 800-1800 k.***,pm C values at 298 k.for(U_(1-y)Euy)O_(2-x)(y=0.2,0.4,0.6)are 64.8,64.6,and 63.5 J·k.(-1)·mol^(-1),*** anomalous increase was observed in the heat capacity in all of the solid solutions with the onset temperature around 950 *** could be attributed to the contribution from Frenk.l pair oxygen *** the excess heat capacity data,the enthalpy for the formation of these defects was computed and found to be in the range of 2.10±0.02 eV.

Laser-heated diamond-anvil cell (LHDAC) is emerging as the most suitable, economical and versatile tool for the measurement of a large spectrum of physical properties of materials under extreme pressure and temperature conditions. In this review, the recent developments in the instrumentation, pressure and temperature measurement techniques, results of experimental investigations from the literature were discussed. Also, the future scope of the technique in various avenues of science was explored.

Super 304 H austenitic stainless steel with 3% of copper posses excellent creep strength and corrosion resistance, which is mainly used in heat exchanger tubing of the boiler. Heat exchangers are used in nuclear power plants and marine vehicles which are intended to operate in chloride rich offshore environment. Chloride stress corrosion crack.ng is the most lik.ly life limiting failure with austenitic stainless steel tubing. Welding may worsen the stress corrosion crack.ng susceptibility of the material. Stress corrosion crack.ng susceptibility of Super 304 H parent metal and gas tungsten arc(GTA) welded joints were studied by constant load tests in 45% boiling Mg Cl2 solution. Stress corrosion crack.ng resistance of Super 304 H stainless steel was deteriorated by GTA welding due to the formation of susceptible microstructure in the HAZ of the weld joint and the residual stresses. The mechanism of crack.ng was found to be anodic path crack.ng, with transgranular nature of crack.propagation. Linear relationships were derived to predict the time to failure by extrapolating the rate of steady state elongation.

A study was conducted to characterize the land use,biomass and carbon status of dry tropical forest in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh,India using satellite remote sensing data and GIS techniques in the year of *** main forest types observed in the area are Teak.forest,mixed forest,degraded forest and Sal mixed *** aspect and slope of the sites influenced the forest vegetation types,biomass and carbon storage in the different *** standing volume,above ground biomass and carbon storage varied from 35.59 to 64.31 m^3·ha^-1,45.94 to 78.31 Mg·ha^-1,and 22.97 to 33.27 Mg·ha^-1,respectively among different forest *** highest volumes,above ground biomass and carbon storage per hectare were found in the mixed forest and lowest in the degraded *** total standing carbon present in the entire study area was 78170.72 Mg in mixed forest,81656.91 Mg in Teak.forest,7833.23 Mg in degraded forest and 7470.45 Mg in Sal mixed forest,*** study shows that dry tropical forests of the studied area in Chhattisgarh are in growing stage and have strong potential for carbon sequestration.
