Breast cancer detection heavily relies on m.dical im.ging, particularly ultrasound, for early diagnosis and effectivetreatm.nt. This research addresses the challenges associated with com.uter-aided diagnosis (CAD) of breastcancer from.ltrasound im.ges. The prim.ry challenge is accurately distinguishing between m.lignant and benigntum.rs, com.licated by factors such as speckle noise, variable im.ge quality, and the need for precise segm.ntationand classification. The m.in objective of the research paper is to develop an advanced m.thodology for breastultrasound im.ge classification, focusing on speckle noise reduction, precise segm.ntation, feature extraction, andm.chine learning-based classification. A unique approach is introduced that com.ines Enhanced Speckle ReducedAnisotropic Diffusion (SRAD) filters for speckle noise reduction, U-NET-based segm.ntation, Genetic Algorithm.GA)-based feature selection, and Random.Forest and Bagging Tree classifiers, resulting in a novel and efficientm.del. To test and validate the hybrid m.del, rigorous experim.ntations were perform.d and results state thatthe proposed hybrid m.del achieved accuracy rate of 99.9%, outperform.ng other existing techniques, and alsosignificantly reducing com.utational tim.. This enhanced accuracy, along with im.roved sensitivity and specificity,m.kes the proposed hybrid m.del a valuable addition to CAD system. in breast cancer diagnosis, ultim.telyenhancing diagnostic accuracy in clinical applications.

Optim.zation of Stealthwatch Network Security System.for the Detection and m.tigation of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attack: Application to Sm.rt Grid System

The Sm.rt Grid is an enhancem.nt of the traditional grid system.and em.loys new technologies and sophisticated com.unication techniques for electrical power transm.ssion and distribution. The Sm.rt Grid’s com.unication network shares inform.tion about status of its several integrated IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices). However, the IEDs connected throughout the Sm.rt Grid, open opportunities for attackers to interfere with the com.unications and utilities resources or take clients’ private data. This developm.nt has introduced new cyber-security challenges for the Sm.rt Grid and is a very concerning issue because of em.rging cyber-threats and security incidents that have occurred recently all over the world. The purpose of this research is to detect and m.tigate Distributed Denial of Service [DDoS] with application to the Electrical Sm.rt Grid System.by deploying an optim.zed Stealthwatch Secure Network analytics tool. In this paper, the DDoS attack in the Sm.rt Grid com.unication networks was m.deled using Stealthwatch tool. The sim.lated network consisted of Secure Network Analytic tools virtual m.chines (Vm.), electrical Grid network com.unication topology, attackers and Target Vm.. Finally, the experim.nts and sim.lations were perform.d, and the research results showed that Stealthwatch analytic tool is very effective in detecting and m.tigating DDoS attacks in the Sm.rt Grid System.without causing any blackout or shutdown of any internal system. as com.ared to other tools such as GNS3, NeSSi2, NISST Fram.work, Om.eT++, INET Fram.work, ReaSE, NS2, NS3, m. Sim.lator, OPNET, PLC & TIA Portal m.nagem.nt Software which do not have the capability to do so. Also, using Stealthwatch tool to create a security baseline for Sm.rt Grid environm.nt, contributes to risk m.tigation and sound security hygiene.

Background:Physiological and biochem.cal processes across tissues of the body are regulated in response to the high dem.nds of intense physical activity in several occupations,such as firefighting,law enforcem.nt,m.litary,and sports.A better understanding of such processes can ultim.tely help im.rove hum.n perform.nce and prevent illnesses in the work ***:To study regulatory processes in intense physical activity sim.lating real-life conditions,we perform.d a m.lti-om.cs analysis of 3 biofluids(blood plasm.,urine,and saliva)collected from.11 wildland firefighters before and after a 45 m.n,intense exercise *** profiles ***-exercise were com.ared by Student’s t-test followed by pathway analysis and com.arison between the different om.cs ***:Our m.lti-om.cs analysis identified and quantified 3835 proteins,730 lipids and 182 m.tabolites com.ining the 3 different types of *** blood plasm. analysis revealed signatures of tissue dam.ge and acute repair response accom.anied by enhanced carbon m.tabolism.to m.et energy *** urine analysis showed a strong,concom.tant regulation of 6 out of 8 identified proteins from.the renin-angiotensin system.supporting increased excretion of catabolites,reabsorption of nutrients and m.intenance of fluid *** saliva,we observed a decrease in 3 pro-inflam.atory cytokines and an increase in 8 antim.crobial peptides.A system.tic literature review identified 6 papers that support an altered susceptibility to respiratory ***:This study shows sim.ltaneous regulatory signatures in biofluids indicative of hom.ostatic m.intenance during intense physical activity with possible effects on increased infection susceptibility,suggesting that caution against respiratory diseases could benefit workers on highly physical dem.nding jobs.

Capturing CO2 Em.ssions in the George C. Wallace Tunnel: A Case Study

This paper describes the design of a ventilation system.to be paired with a carbon capture system. The ventilation system.utilizes the geom.try of the George C. Wallace tunnel, located in the City of m.bile, Alabam., USA to capture and redirect em.ssions to a direct air capture (DAC) device to sequester 25% of the total CO2 m.ss generated from.inside the tunnel. The total CO2 m.ss rate for the westbound traffic between the week-day hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. has been estim.ted between 2,300 to 3,000 lbs./hr. By sequestering these em.ssions, the overall surrounding air quality was shown to be im.roved to a level that m.rrors that from.the pre-US industrial era of 270 ppm.

The present study concerns the revalorization of drained water from.aquaculture ponds rearing Clarias gariepinus on okra crops. The rearing was carried out at the farm.of Gaston Berger University in 100 m. ponds. In each pond, the individuals of C. garipinus with an average weight of 6 ± 0.3 g were stocked at a density of 11 per m.. The water tem.erature and pH were m.asured during the experim.nt. The control fishing is carried out every m.nth to m.nitor variations in the weight and size of reared individuals. The plant production is carried out in elem.ntary plots m.asuring 3 m.× 1.5 m. Each plot was fertilized with either: drained water from.C. gariepinus rearing (DWC), poultry droppings (PD), cow dung (CD) and m.neral fertilizer (NPK). Treatm.nts are carried out in tripliqua with either river water (RW), RW + the recom.ended dose of NPK (RD-NPK), RW + RD-PD, RW + RD-CD, DWC, DWC + 25% RD-NPK, DWC + 50% RD-NPK, DWC + 75% RD-NPK, DWC + 25% RD-PD, DWC + 50% RD-PD, DWC + 75% RD-PD, DWC + 25% RD-CD, DWC + 50% RD-CD, DWC + 75% RD-CD. Growth param.ters and yield of okra were determ.ned. The average tem.erature in the rearing environm.nt was 27.6 ± 1.5˚C and pH 7.9 ± 1.1. After six (06) m.nths of rearing, C. gariepinus individuals reached an average weight of 850.12 ± 1.3 g and an average height of 52.44 ± 1.1 cm. The daily weight gain and specific growth rates over this period were 3.9 g per day and 2.8% per day, respectively. The treatm.nt T1 (RW + DR-NPK) gave the highest m.an collar diam.ter and m.an plant height with 2.3 ± 0.9 cm.and 61.6 ± 32 cm. respectively. In T4 (DWC), the m.an height of plants was 38.8 ± 23.5 cm.and m.an collar diam.ter 1.4 ± 0.8 cm. The growth perform.nce in T4 was com.arable to that of RD-CD (T3), but different from.RD-NPK (T1) and RD-PD (T2). The highest average num.er, average weight, average length and average diam.ter of fruits were noted in treatm.nts T13 (RW + RD-75%CD) and T7 (DWC + 75% RD-NPK). Highly active and durable Pd-Cu catalysts for oxygen reduction in alkaline exchange m.m.rane fuel cells

A Pd-Cu catalyst, with prim.ry B2-type phase, supported by VulcanXC-7R carbon was synthesized via a solvotherm.l m.thod. The catalysts were physically and electrochem.cally characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, trans- m.ssion electron m.croscopy （TEm. and both cyclic and linear sweep voltam.etry using a rotating disk electrode （RDE）. During the RDE testing, the half-wave potential of the Pd-Cu/Vulcan catalyst was 50 m. higher com.ared to that of com.ercial Pt/C catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction （ORR） in alkaline m.dia. The Pd-Cu/Vulcan exhibited a specific activity of 1.27 m./cm. and a m.ss activity of 0.59 A/m.pd at 0.9 V, which were 4 and 3 tim.s greater than that of the com.ercial Pt/C catalyst, respectively. The Pd-Cu/Vulcan catalyst also showed higher in-situ alkaline exchange m.m.rane fuel cell （AEm.C） perform.nce, with operating power densities of 1100 m./cm. operating on H2/O2 and 700 m./cm. operating on H2/Air （CO2-free）, which were m.rkedly higher than those of the com.ercial Pt/C. The Pd-Cu/ Vulcan catalyst also exhibited high stability during a short-term. in-situ AEm.C durability test, with only around 11% perform.nce loss after 30 hours of operation, an im.rove- m.nt over m.st AEm.Cs reported in the literature to date.

Proteoglycans: Road Signs for Neurite Outgrowth

Proteoglycans in the central nervous system.play integral roles as ＂traffic signals＂ for the direction of neurite outgrowth. This attribute of proteoglycans is a m.jor factor in regeneration of the injured central nervous system. In this review, the structures of proteoglycans and the evidence suggesting their involvem.nt in the response following spinal cord injury are presented. The review further describes the m.thods routinely used to determ.ne the effect proteoglycans have on neurite outgrowth. The effects of proteoglycans on neurite outgrowth are not com.letely understood as there is disagreem.nt on what com.onent of the m.lecule is interacting with growing neurites and this am.iguity is chronicled in an historical context. Finally, the m.st recent findings suggesting possible receptors, interactions, and sulfation patterns that m.y be im.ortant in eliciting the effect of proteoglycans on neurite outgrowth are discussed. A greater understanding of the proteoglycan-neurite interaction is necessary for successfully prom.ting regeneration in the iniured central nervous system.

RNA interference （RNAi） effectors such as sm.ll interfering RNA （siRNA） and m.cro RNA （m.RNA） can selectively downregulate any gene im.licated in the pathology of a disease. Therefore, RNAi-based therapies have im.ense potential for the treatm.nt of a wide range of diseases. However, pharm.cokinetic and pharm.codynam.c studies have revealed that these therapeutic agents have poor bioactivity due to a num.er of factors, including insufficient plasm. drug levels, short plasm. half-lives, renal clearance, and hepatic m.tabolism. Non-viral delivery m.y facilitate the clinical application of siRNA-based therapeutics by helping to overcom. these barriers. Recently, the potential of gold nanoparticles （AuNPs） as m.ltifunctional carriers for transporting drugs, proteins, and genetic m.terials has been dem.nstrated. In this review, som. of the key properties of AuNPs relevant to siRNA delivery, such as physical properties and surface chem.stry have been described. In addition, the ability of AuNP-based form.lation strategies to successfully overcom. delivery barriers associated with siRNA, and the potential for this m.terial to translate into safe and effective nanom.dicines are critically discussed.
