Haloacetamides（HAMs） are cytotoxic, genotoxic, and mu.agenic byprodu.ts of drinking water disinfection. They are soft electrophilic compou.ds that form covalent bonds with the free thiol/thiolate in cysteine residu.s throu.h an S_N2 reaction *** of the monohalogenated HAMs（iodoacetamide, IAM; bromoacetamide, BAM;or chloroacetamide, CAM） varied depending on the halogen su.stitu.nt. The aim of this research was to investigate how the halogen atom affects the reactivity and toxicological properties of HAMs, measu.ed as indu.tion of oxidative/electrophilic stress response and genotoxicity. Additionally, we wanted to determine how well in silico estimates of electrophilic softness matched thiol/thiolate reactivity and in vitro toxicological *** of the HAMs significantly indu.ed nu.lear Rad51 accu.u.ation and ARE signaling activity compared to a negative control. The rank order of effect was IAM 〉 BAM 〉 CAM for Rad51, and BAM ≈ IAM 〉 CAM for ARE. In general, electrophilic softness and in chemico thiol/thiolate reactivity provided a qu.litative indicator of toxicity, as the softer electrophiles IAM and BAM were more thiol/thiolate reactive and were more toxic than CAM.

Here,we report the effect of an 8 T magnetic field on the microstru.tu.e and properties of a reetangu.ar Bi_2Sr_2CaCu.Ox/AgMg(Bi2212/AgMg) condu.tor with low aspect *** magnetic field was applied du.ing split melt process with the field direction perpendicu.ar and parallel to the wide su.face of the *** heat treatment, the condu.tors were electrically characterized u.ing fou.-point critical cu.rent measu.ements as a fu.ction of magnetic field and magnetic field orientation relative to the *** su.ercondu.ting transition and magnetization hysteresis were measu.ed u.ing a SQu.D *** microstru.tu.e was characterized u.ing scanning electron microscopy. It was fou.d that the presence of magnetic field du.ing split melt processing enhances the electrical transport and magnetic *** magnetic field increases the Bi2212 grains alignment and long range textu.e within filaments and bridges between filaments by textu.ed growth of Bi2212 phase.

Photoelectrochemical （PEC） water splitting is a promising approach to harvest and store solar energy [1]. Silicon has been widely investigated for PEC photoelectrodes du. to its su.table band gap （1.12 eV） matching the solar spectru. [2]. Here we investigate employing nickel both as a catalyst and protecting layer of a p-type silicon photocathode for photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolu.ion in basic electrolytes for the first time. The silicon photocathode was made by depositing 15 nm Ti on a p-type silicon wafer followed by 5 nm Ni. The photocathode afforded an onset potential of -0.3 V vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode （RHE） in alkaline solu.ion （1 M KOH）. The stability of the Ni/Ti/p-Si photocathode showed a 100 mV decay over 12 h in KOH, bu. the stability was significantly improved when the photocathode was operated in potassiu. borate bu.fer solu.ion （pH ≈ 9.5）. The electrode su.face was fou.d to remain intact after 12 h of continu.u. operation at a constant cu.rent density of 10 mA/cm^2 in potassiu. borate bu.fer, su.gesting that Ni affords good protection of Si based photocathodes in borate bu.fers.

The middle-u.per Cretaceou. Cedu.a River system traversed continental Au.tralia from the NE coast to the centre of the sou.hern coast. At its mou.h, it formed a vast delta system that is similar in scale to the Niger delta of West Africa. The delta system is composed of two main lobes that represent different phases of delta constru.tion. A recent hypothesis has challenged the traditional idea that both lobes of the delta were derived from a transcontinental river system by su.gesting that the u.per lobe （Santonian -Maastrichtian） is instead derived from a restricted catchment within sou.hern Au.tralia. Hf isotopic data presented here fingerprint the original sou.ce of the u.per delta lobe zircons to NE Au.tralia, with data comparing well with similar u.Pb and Lu.Hf isotopic data from the Lachlan Orogen, the New England Orogen, the eastern Mu.graves Province and the northern Flinders Ranges. These data do not preclu.e a model where the lobe is derived from recycled Eromanga Basin sediments du.ing a phase of late Cretaceou. inland Au.tralian u.lift, bu. when cou.led with reconnaissance low-temperatu.e thermochronometry from the region of the Cedu.a River cou.se indicating widespread Triassic-Ju.assic exhu.ation, and comparisons with detrital zircon data from the Winton Formation u.stream of any proposed u.lift, we su.gest that both lobes of the Cedu.a Delta are likely to be derived from a transcontinental Cedu.a River.

u.Pb monazite and zircon geochronology and calcu.ated metamorphic phase diagrams from drill holes in the northern Gawler Craton, sou.hern Au.tralia, reveal the presence of ca. 1.45 Ga magmatism and metamorphism. Magmatism and granu.ite facies metamorphism of this age has not previou.ly been recognised in the Gawler Craton. The magmatic rocks have steep LREE-enriched patterns and high Ga/Al valu.s, su.gesting they are A-type granites. Calcu.ated metamorphic forward models su.gest that this event was associated with high apparent thermal gradients and reached pressu.es of 3.2 -5.4 kbar and temperatu.es of 775-815℃. The high apparent thermal gradients may reflect plu.on-enhanced metamorphism, consistent with the presence of A-type granites. The recognition of ca. 1.45 Ga tectonism in the northern Gawler Craton is added to a compilation of ca. 1.50 -1.40 Ga magmatism, shear zone reactivation, rift basin development and isotope resetting throu.hou. the Sou.h and North Au.tralian Cratons that shows that this event was widespread in eastern Proterozoic Au.tralia. This event is stylistically similar to ca. 1.45 Ga A-type magmatism and high thermal gradient metamorphism in Lau.entia in this interval and provides fu.ther su.port for a connection between Au.tralia and Lau.entia du.ing the Mesoproterozoic. The tectonic setting of the 1.50-1.40 Ga event is u.clear bu. may record rifting within the Nu.a(or Colu.bia) su.ercontinent, or a period of intracontinental extension within a long-lived convergent setting.

AIM： TO stu.y the implication of prokineticin 1 （PKI/EGVEGF） and prokineticin 2 （PK2/13v8） in hepatocellu.ar carcinoma angiogenesis.METHODS： The gene indu.tion of PK1/EG-VEGF and PK2/Bv8 was investigated in 10 normal, 28 fibrotic and 28 tu.oral livers by u.ing real time PCR. Their expression was compared to the expression of VEGF （an angiogenesis marker）, vWF （an endothelial cell marker） and to CD68 （a monocyte/macrophage marker）. Fu.thermore, the rnRNA levels of PK1/EG-VEGF, PK2/Bv8, prokineticin receptor 1 and 2 were evalu.ted by real time PCR in isolated liver cell popu.ations. Finally, PK2/Bv8 protein was detected in normal liver paraffin sections and in isolated liver cells by immu.ohistochernistry and immu.ocytochemistry.RESu.TS： PK2/Bv8 mRNA bu. not PK1/EG-VEGF was expressed in all types of normal liver samples examined. In the context of liver tu.or development, we reported that PK2/13v8 correlates only with CD68 and showed a significant decrease in expression as the pathology evolves towards cancer. Whereas, VEGF and vWF mRNA were significantly u.regu.ated in both fibrosis and HCC,as expected. In addition, ou. of all isolated liver cells examined, only Ku.ffer cells （liver resident macrophages） express significant levels of PK2/Bv8 and its receptors, prokineticin receptor 1 and 2.CONCLu.ION： In normal liver PK2/Bv8 and its receptors were specifically expressed by Ku.ffer cells. PK2/Bv8 expression decreased as the liver evolves towards cancer and did not correlate with HCC angiogenesis.

The Sou.hern Iru.ide Belt(SIB)is an orogenic belt consisting of a nu.ber of lithologically varied Mesoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic terranes that were thru.t u.on each *** belt lies along the sou.hwest margin of the Archaean to Proterozoic Congo Craton,and bears a Neoproterozoic tectonothermal overprint relating to the Neoproterozoic-Cambrian collision between the Congo and Kalahari *** preserves a record of abou. 500 million years of plate interaction along this part of the Congo *** zircon samples from the SIB were analysed for u.Pb and Lu.Hf isotopes,as well as trace element *** data are u.ed to constrain sediment-sou.ce relationships between SIB terranes and other Gondwanan terranes su.h as the local Congo Craton and Iru.ide belt and wider afield to Madagascar(Azania)and *** correlations are then u.ed to interpret the Mesoproterozoic to Neoproterozoic affinity of the rocks and evolu.ion of the *** zircon samples from the Chewore-Ru.u.sa and Kacholola(previou.ly referred to as Lu.ngwa-Nyimba)terranes of the SIB yield zircon u.Pb age popu.ations and evolvedε(Hf)(t)valu.s that are similar to the Mu.a Su.ergrou. fou.d throu.hou. eastern Zambia,primarily correlating with u.endian-u.agaran(ca.2.05-1.80 Ga)phase magmatism and a cryptic basement terrane that has been su.gested to u.derlie the Bangweu.u.Block and Iru.ide *** data su.gest that the SIB was depositionally connected to the Congo Craton throu.hou. the *** more eastern Nyimba-Sinda terrane of the SIB(previou.ly referred to as Petau.e-Sinda terrane)records detrital zircon ages andε(Hf)(t)valu.s that correlate with ca.1.1-1.0 Ga magmatism exposed elsewhere in the SIB and Iru.ide *** ascribe this difference in age popu.ations to the polyphase development of the province,where the sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Nyimba-Sinda terrane accu.u.ated in extensional basins that developed in the *** deposition wou
