To overcome the intrinsic inefficiency of the von Neumann architecture,neuromorphic devices that perform analog vector–matrix multiplication have been highlighted for achieving power-and time-efficient data *** particular,artificial synapses,of which conductance should be programmed to represent the synaptic weights of the artificial neural network,have been intensively researched to realize neuromorphic ***,inspired by excitatory and inhibitory synapses,we develop an artificial optoelectronic synapse that shows both potentiation and depression characteristics triggered only by optical *** design of the artificial optoelectronic synapse,in which excitatory and inhibitory synaptic phototransistors are serially connected,enables these characteristics by spatiotemporally irradiating the phototransistor channels with optical ***,a negative synaptic weight can be realized without the need for electronic components such as *** such attributes,the artificial optoelectronic synapse is demonstrated to classify three digits with a high recognition rate(98.3%)and perform image preprocessing via analog vector-matrix multiplication.

＜正＞ In view of the fact that the modern man is exposed to innumerable external stimulus, our era is considered as the "Era of Stress". Since researches have demonstrated that stress is no more a metaphysics matter but an entity with specific syndromes and signs, it has brought large concern from clinicians and patients. Stress is defined as an unspecific reaction of the body against the external stimulus. Therefore, physiologically autonomic nervous system, endocrine system and immune system suffer alteration. Moreover, vigorous research concerning the mutual reaction of central nervous system and immune system caused by stress has created a new field of medicine called psychoneuroimmunology which is the combination of immunology and neurobiology. Demonstrating that the alteration of secretion of hormones or neurotransmitters are caused by the action of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal（HPA） axis due to the stress is responsible for a variety of diseases. The oral cavity is an organ highly and properly protected by the immune system of our bodyfrom various external environments and many microorganisms. For that reason, oral cavity expresses various first signs and symptoms in the weak condition of immunological function due to systemic diseases and emotional stresses. Because of this, we call the "oral cavity" the "mirror" or "signal light" of the general health. Moreover, orofacial system shows bad habits such as clenching and bruxism under the emotional stress conditions. At this time orofacial pain and disorder can be occurred by the excessive physical forces and sustained muscle contractions. As a result, emotional stress can be a vital etiological factor of some diseases and symptoms in maxillofacial area such as lichen planus, aphthous stomatitis, recurrent herpes simplex stomatitis, xerostomia and some orofacial pains including temporomandibular disorders, sthong55@***.

＜正＞ An analytical method used to predict the magnetic field in an interior permanent magnet （IPM） motor,is developed and validated in this paper. By using space harmonic analysis and conformal transformation （or con-formal mapping （CM）） techniques,the air-gap magnetic field distribution,with considering of stator slots effect and rotor saliency effect,is precisely calculated. The accuracy of this analytical method is confirmed by the 2-dimensional finite element analysis （FEA）. The analytical method can produces results much faster than FEA alone.

Exploring treatment options for biliary tract cancers:moving beyond the era of gemcitabine and platinum doublet

Biliary tract cancers(BTCs)refer to invasive adenocarcinomas arising from the bile duct(intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma)and gallbladder(gallbladder cancer).Patients with BTCs typically present at an advanced stage due to a lack of early detection methods and non-specific symptoms;systemic chemotherapy is the cornerstone of treatment for these advanced *** plus cisplatin(GC)has been the standard treatment since the pivotal ABC-02 randomized phase 3 trial conducted in 2010(1).Moving beyond the era of GC,several triplet combination regimens have been proposed in recent years(Table 1).The combination of nab-paclitaxel(nab-P)and GC showed promising survival outcomes in a phase 2 trial(2),although it eventually failed to meet the primary endpoint of overall survival(OS)in a randomized phase 3 trial(3).Around the same time,TOPAZ-1(5)demonstrated that the programmed death ligand 1(PD-L1)inhibitor durvalumab combined with GC significantly improved the median OS[11.5 vs.12.8 months;hazard ratio(HR),0.80;95%confidence interval(CI):0.66–0.97;P=0.021]and median progression-free survival(PFS)(5.7 vs.7.2 months;HR,0.75;95%CI:0.63–0.89;P=0.001),with an objective response rate(ORR)of 26.7%.Moreover,KEYNOTE-966(6)found that the addition of programmed death-1(PD-1)inhibitor pembrolizumab also improved median OS(10.9 vs.12.7 months;HR,0.83;95%CI:0.72–0.95;P=0.0034),whereas the median PFS only showed numerical improvements(5.6 vs.6.5 months;HR,0.86;95%CI:0.75–1.00;P=0.023),with an ORR of 29%.Consequently,the combination of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors and GC has become the new standard of care for first-line treatment of patients with BTCs,establishing the new era of triplet combinations.

Panax ginseng(***.)has been traditionally employed in Korea and China to alleviate fatigue and digestive *** particular,Korean red ginseng(KRG),derived from streamed and dried ***,is known for its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory ***,its effects on benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH),a representative aging-related disease,and the underlying mechanisms remain *** study aims to elucidate the therapeutic effects of KRG on BPH,with a particular focus on mitochondrial dynamics,including fission and fusion *** effects of KRG on cell proliferation,apoptosis,and mitochondrial dynamics and morphology were evaluated in a rat model of testosterone propionate(TP)-induced BPH and TP-treated LNCaP cells,with mdivi-1 as a *** results revealed that KRG treatment reduced the levels of androgen receptors(AR)and prostate-specific antigens in the BPH *** inhibited cell proliferation by downregulating cyclin D and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)levels,and it promoted apoptosis by increasing the ratio of B-cell lymphoma protein 2(Bcl-2)-associated X protein(Bax)to Bcl-2 ***,KRG treatment enhanced the phosphorylation of dynamin-related protein 1(DRP-1,serine 637)compared with that in the BPH group,which inhibited mitochondrial fission and led to mitochondrial *** modulation of mitochondrial dynamics was associated with decreased cell proliferation and increased *** dysregulating AR signaling and inhibiting mitochondrial fission through enhanced DRP-1(ser637)phosphorylation,KRG effectively reduced cell proliferation and induced *** findings suggest that KRG’s regulation of mitochondrial dynamics offers a promising clinical approach for the treatment of BPH.

Systematic optimization of the photocatalyst and investigation of the role of each component is important to maximizing catalytic activity and comprehending the photocatalytic conversion of CO_(2) reduction to solar fuels.A surface-modified Ag@Ru-P25 photocatalyst with H_(2)O_(2) treatment was designed in this study to convert CO_(2) and H_(2)O vapor into highly selective *** doping followed by Ag nanoparticles(NPs)cocatalyst deposition on P25(TiO_(2))enhances visible light absorption and charge separation,whereas H_(2)O_(2) treatment modifies the surface of the photocatalyst with hydroxyl(–OH)groups and promotes CO_(2) ***-resonance transmission electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray absorption near-edge structure,and extended X-ray absorption fine structure techniques were used to analyze the surface and chemical composition of the photocatalyst,while thermogravimetric analysis,CO_(2) adsorption isotherm,and temperature programmed desorption study were performed to examine the significance of H_(2)O_(2) treatment in increasing CO_(2) reduction *** optimized Ag1.0@Ru1.0-P25 photocatalyst performed excellent CO_(2) reduction activity into CO,CH4,and C2H6 with a~95%selectivity of CH4,where the activity was~135 times higher than that of pristine TiO_(2)(P25).For the first time,this work explored the effect of H_(2)O_(2) treatment on the photocatalyst that dramatically increases CO_(2) reduction activity.

Surgical Repair of Ventricular Septal Defect in Neonates: Indications and Outcomes

Background:The optimal surgical timing and clinical outcomes of ventricular septal defect(VSD)closure in neo-nates remain *** aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of VSD closure in neonates(age≤30 days).Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 50 consecutive neonates who underwent VSD closure for isolated VSDs between August 2003 and June *** for the procedure included congestive heart failure/failure to thrive and pulmonary *** adverse events(MAEs)were deﬁned as the composite of all-cause mortality,reoperation,persistent atrioventricular block,and signiﬁcant(≥grade 2)valvular ***:The median age and body weight at operation were 26.0 days(interquartile range[IQR],18.8–28.3)and 3.7 kg(IQR,3.3–4.2),*** median follow-up duration was 110.4 months(IQR,56.8–165.0).Seven patients required preoperative respiratory support,andﬁve had signiﬁcant(≥grade 2)preoperative valvular *** early mortality occurred due to irreversible cardiogenic shock;no late mortality was *** reopera-tion was due to hemodynamically signiﬁcant residual VSD at 103.8 months *** overall survival,freedom from reoperation,and freedom from MAE at 15-years were 98.0%,96.3%,and 94.4%,***-operative mechanical ventilation was associated with a longer duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation(p<0.001)and a longer length of intensive care unit stay(p<0.001).Conclusions:VSD closure with favorable outcomes without morbidities is feasible even in ***,neonates requiring preoperative respiratory support may require careful postoperative management considering the long-term postoperative ***,surgical VSD closure might be indicated earlier in neonates with respiratory compromise.
