This manuscript presents our numerical and experimental results regarding the performance characteristics of lean bum catalytic combustion for gas turbine application. The reactant transport was assumed to be controlled by both bulk diffusion as well as surface kinetics, implemented by means of an approximate reaction rate equation and empirical coefficients to incorporate reaction mechanism. Experimental and numerical results were compared to examine the effects of methane mole fraction, inlet temperature, operating pressure, velocity and hydrogen spe- cies on combustion intensity. The results indicate that inlet temperature is the most significant parameter that im- pacts operation of the catalytic combustor and the most effective methods for improving the methane conversion are increasing the inlet temperature and increasing the methane mole fraction. Simulations from ID heterogene- ous plug flow model can capture the trend of catalytic combustion and describe the behavior of the catalytic mo- nolith in detail. The addition of hydrogen will provide heat release by the exothermie combustion reaction so that the reactants reach a temperature at which methane oxidation can light-off.

Nitroso compounds have emerged as highly valuable reaction partners or reagents in organic synthesis due to their rich *** versatile profile of these compounds allows them to function as electrophiles, nucleophiles, diradicals, and radical acceptors in diverse transformations. In recent years, notable progress has been made in harnessing photochemical reactions with nitroso compounds to prepare N,O-containing structures using mild and eco-friendly conditions. Various nitroso compounds like nitrosoarenes, acyloxy nitroso compounds, N-nitrosoamines and nitrites have received significant attention for their ability to introduce NO moieties into complex molecules that are otherwise difficult to access. In this review, we provide an overview of the recent advancements in the visible light-induced conversion of nitroso compounds, with particular emphasis on their role as bifunctional reagents and acceptors of radicals, carbenes and nitrenes.

Living donor liver transplantation in 43 children with biliary atresia: a single-center experience from the mainland of China

BACKGROUND: There is no large-cohort report on living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for biliary atresia (BA) patients from the mainland of China. This single-center study describes our initial experience with 43 LDLTs for BA patients aged two years or younger. METHODS: In this study, the eligibility criteria were BA as the primary diagnosis and two years of age or younger. From October 2006 to December 2010, the clinical data of 43 LDLTs, including pre-operative evaluations, surgical techniques, postoperative complications and outcomes of donors and recipients, were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: Donor graft type was the left lateral segment with compatible ABO blood groups. Forty-three recipients were selected in this study. The median patient age at operation was 9 months (range 6-24), and the median body weight was 8 kg (range 5.7-12.5). Fourteen (32.6%) recipients received Kasai operations before liver transplantation. The overall one- and two-year cumulative survival rates for grafts and recipients were 81%, 81% and 76%, 76%, respectively. No donor mortality was encountered, with a minimal morbidity and no long- term sequelae. Nine out of 43 recipients died. Postoperative complications of recipients were biliary leakage and refluxing cholangitis (11/43, 25.6%), hepatic artery thrombosis (4, 9.3%), pulmonary infections (4, 9.3%), portal vein thrombosis (3, 7.0%), wound disruption (3, 7.0%), acute rejection (3, 7.0%), cytomegalovirus infection (2, 4.7%), and intra-abdominal bleeding (1, 2.3%).CONCLUSION: Despite the relatively low survival rates due to lack of experience initially, LDLT still provides encouraging outcomes for pediatric recipients with BA, even small children under two years old.

The mechanical and thermodynamic properties of W-Ti alloys(including W_(15)Ti_(1),W_(14)Ti_(2),W_(12)Ti_(4) and W_(8)Ti_(8) alloys)were investigated by the first-principles approach based on density functional *** results indicate that W-Ti alloys except W_(8)Ti_(8) are thermodynamically *** modulus and hardness of W-Ti alloys are smaller than those of pure tungsten and gradually decrease with increasing Ti ***,their B/G ratios and Poisson's ratios exceed those of pure tungsten,suggesting that the introduction of Ti decreases the mechanical strength while enhancing the ductility of W-Ti *** thermal expansion coefficients for W-Ti alloys all surpass those of pure tungsten,indicating that the introduction of titanium exacerbates the thermal expansion behavior of W-Ti ***,elevated pressure has the capacity to suppress the thermal expansion tendencies in titanium-doped tungsten *** study offers theoretical insights for the design of nuclear materials by exploring the mechanical and thermodynamic properties of W-Ti alloys.

Herein, the de novo synthesis of atropisomeric benzofurans through the Cu/spirocyclic-pyrrolidine-oxazoline(SPDO) complex catalyze asymmetric formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition between quinones and ynamides is explored, producing a range of structurally diverse axially chiral benzofurans in satisfactory yields with good to excellent enantioselectivities. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were applied to explain the possible reaction mechanism.

The Tungsten-Rhenium(W-Re) alloys,celebrated for their high melting point,strength at elevated temperatures,electrical resistivity,and radiation resistance,have been widely utilized in high-temperature components,aerospace,electronics,and nuclear *** constituents of the topologically close-packed(TCP) phases,the sigma phase(σ) and chi phase(χ) formed within W-Re alloys wield considerable influence on the mechanical properties and the stability of the *** calculations were utilized in the present work to explore the structural,thermodynamic,and electronic properties of both ordered and disordered configurations within the σ and χ phases,culminating in a systematic elucidation of the higher phase stability exhibited by the ordered *** is found that the bulk modulus of these two phases is directly proportional to the concentration of Re in the alloy,while the equilibrium volume is inversely *** thermodynamic parameters of the σ and χ phases are calculated via the mean-field potential *** similar trends observed in the isobaric heat capacity,enthalpy increment,and entropy change curves for these two phases suggest they possess comparable thermodynamic *** is noteworthy that the contribution of ionic vibrations predominantly affects the isobaric heat capacity,while the contribution of thermal electronic excitations increases linearly with *** the structure and thermodynamic properties of TCP phases in W-Re alloys at low temperatures has profound significance for optimizing material performance,microstructures features,establishing theoretical foundations,and predicting material behavior.
