Prognosis of R1-resection at the bronchial stump in patients with non-small cell lung cancer

Background The prognosis of R1-resection at the bronchial stump in patients with non-small cell lung cancer （NSCLC） remains *** study intends to identify the prognostic factors and to optimize treatments for these patients under update *** The data of 124 NSCLC patients who underwent R1-resection at the bronchial stump was *** were 41 patients in the surgery group （S）,21 in the postoperative radiotherapy （PORT） group （S＋R）,30 in the postoperative chemotherapy （POCT） group （S＋C）,and 32 in the PORT plus POCT group （S＋R＋C）.The constitute proportion in different groups was tested using the X2 method,univariate analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier and log-rank method,and multivariate analysis was done using the Cox hazard regression with entry factors including age,sex,pathological type and stage,classification of the residual disease,and treatment *** process was performed stepwise backward with a maximum iteration of 20 and an entry possibility of 0.05 as well as an excluded possibility of 0.10 at each *** In univariate analysis,survival was more favorable for patients with squamous cell carcinoma,early pathological T or N stage,and chemotherapy or *** was no significant difference in the survival for patients with different types of the residual disease,except for the difference between patients with carcinoma in situ and lymphangiosis carcinomatosa （P=0.030）.The survival for patients receiving chemoradiotherapy was superior to that for those undergoing surgery alone （P=0.016）.In multivariate analysis,the pathological type （HR 2.51,95% CI 1.59 to 3.96,P=0.000）,pathological T （HR 1.29,95% CI 1.04 to 1.60,P=-0.021） or N stage （HR 2.04,95% CI 1.40 to 2.98,P=0.000）,and chemotherapy （HR 0.24,95% CI 0.13 to 0.43,P=0.000） were independent prognostic *** Patients with squamous cell carcinoma,early pathological T or N stage,or receiving chemotherapy had a more favorable prognosis.

SiGe-based thermoelectric(TE)materials have gained increasing interests due to their low maintenance costs,environmental friendliness and long ***,the intrinsically high thermal conductivity of Si-based materials also results in poor TE *** this investigation,a zirconia(ZrO_(2))composite strategy was applied to an n-type SiGe alloy,tremendously elevating its TE *** mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering(SPS)processes,the ZrO_(2)induced the formation of nanopores in the SiGe matrix via phosphorus ***,such increase in porosity enhanced the phonon scattering and dramatically suppressed lattice thermal conductivity,from 2.83 to 1.59 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)at 873 ***,reduced phosphorus doping led to an increase in Seebeck coefficients and a relatively minor decrease in electrical conductivity,The power factor didn't deteriorate significantly,either,as its maximum of~3.43 mW·m^(-1-)K^(-2)was achieved at 873 K with(Si_(0.8)Ge_(0.2))_(0.097)P_(0.03)(ZrO_(2))_(0.003).In short,a peak figure of merit(ZT)of~1.27 at 873 K and an average ZT~0.7 from 323 to 873 K were *** study demonstrates that the electrical and thermal transportation of SiGe material can be synergistically tuned by compositing ZrO_(2),illustrating a novel strategy to optimize the TE properties of bulk materials.

Despite notable progress in thermoelectric(TE)materials and devices,developing TE aerogels with high-temperature resistance,superior TE performance and excellent elasticity to enable self-powered high-temperature monitoring/warning in industrial and wearable applications remains a great ***,a highly elastic,flame-retardant and high-temperature-resistant TE aerogel,made of poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)/single-walled carbon nanotube(PEDOT:PSS/SWCNT)composites,has been fabricated,displaying attractive compression-induced power factor *** as-fabricated sensors with the aerogel can achieve accurately pressure stimuli detection and wide temperature range ***,a flexible TE generator is assembled,consisting of 25 aerogels connected in series,capable of delivering a maximum output power of 400μW when subjected to a temperature difference of 300 *** demonstrates its outstanding high-temperature heat harvesting capability and promising application prospects for real-time temperature monitoring on industrial high-temperature ***,the designed self-powered wearable sensing glove can realize precise wide-range temperature detection,high-temperature warning and accurate recognition of human hand *** aerogel-based intelligent wearable sensing system developed for firefighters demonstrates the desired self-powered and highly sensitive high-temperature fire warning *** from these desirable properties,the elastic and high-temperature-resistant aerogels present various promising applications including self-powered high-temperature monitoring,industrial overheat warning,waste heat energy recycling and even wearable healthcare.

Surfactants are widely used in the fracturing fluid to enhance the imbibition and thus the oil recovery rate. However, current numerical models cannot capture the physics behind capillary imbibition during the wettability alteration by surfactants. Although the interacting capillary bundle(ICB) model shows potential in characterizing imbibition rates in different pores during wettability alteration, the existing ICB models neglect the influence of wettability and viscosity ratio on the imbibition behavior, making it difficult to accurately describe the oil-water imbibition behavior within the porous media. In this work,a new ICB mathematical model is established by introducing pressure balance without assuming the position of the leading front to comprehensively describe the imbibition behavior in a porous medium under different conditions, including gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition and oil-water *** the pore size distribution of a tight rock is known, this new model can predict the changes of water saturation during the displacement process in the tight rock, and also determine the imbibition rate in pores of different sizes. The water saturation profiles obtained from the new model are validated against the waterflooding simulation results from the CMG, while the imbibition rates calculated by the model are validated against the experimental observations of gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition. The good match above indicates the newly proposed model can show the water saturation profile at a macroscopic scale while capture the underlying physics of the multiphase flow in a porous medium at a microscopic scale. Simulation results obtained from this model indicate that both wettability and viscosity ratio can affect the sequence of fluid imbibition into pores of different sizes during the multiphase flow, where less-viscous wetting fluid is preferentially imbibed into larger pores while more-viscous wetting fluid tends to be imbibed into smaller pores. Fluorescence imaging in the second near-infrared window(NIR-II,900–1880 nm)with less scattering background in biological tissues has been combined with the confocal microscopic system for achieving deep in vivo imaging with high spatial ***,the traditional NIR-IIfluorescence confocal microscope with separate excitation focus and detection pinhole makes it possess low confocal e±ciency,as well as di±cultly to *** types of upgraded NIR-IIfluorescence confocal microscopes,sharing the same pinhole by excitation and emission focus,leading to higher confocal e±ciency,are built in this *** type is-ber-pinhole-based confocal microscope applicable to CW laser *** is constructed forfluorescence intensity imaging with large depth,high stabilization and low cost,which could replace multiphotonfluorescence microscopy in some applications(e.g.,cerebrovascular and hepatocellular imaging).The other type is air-pinhole-based confocal microscope applicable to femtosecond(fs)laser *** can be employed not only for NIR-IIfluorescence intensity imaging,but also for multi-channelfluorescence lifetime imaging to recognize different structures with similarfluorescence ***,it can be facilely combined with multiphotonfluorescence microscopy.A single fs pulsed laser is utilized to achieve up-conversion(visible multiphotonfluorescence)and down-conversion(NIR-II one-photonfluorescence)excitation simultaneously,extending imaging spectral channels,and thus facilitates multi-structure and multi-functional observation.

The 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzyl(Hmb)backbone modification can prevent amide bond-mediated sidereactions(e.g.,aspartimide formation,peptide aggregation)by installing the removable Hmb group into a peptide bond,thus improving the synthesis of long and challenging peptides and ***,its use is largely precluded by the limited Hmb’s installation *** this report,an improved installation of Hmb(iHmb)method was developed to achieve the flexible installation and the convenient removal of *** iHmb method involves two critical steps:(1)oxidative diazotization of the readily installed 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-5-amino-benzyl(Hmab)to give 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-5-diazonium-benzyl(Hmdab)by combining soamyl nitrite(IAN)/HBF_(4),and(2)reductive elimination of Hmdab to give the desired Hmb by 1,2-ethanedithiol(EDT).The iHmb method enables the installation of Hmb at any primary amino acid including the highly sterically hindered amino acids(e.g.,valine and isoleucine).The practicality and utility of the iHmb method was demonstrated by one-shot solid-phase synthesis of a challenging aspartimide-prone peptide,the mirror-image version of a hydrophobic peptide and a long-chain peptide up to ***,the iHmb method can be utilized to facilitate chemical protein ligation,as exemplified by the synthesis of the single-spanning membrane protein *** iHmb method expands the toolkit for peptide synthesis and ligation and facilitates the preparation of peptides/proteins.

The interactions between avian brood parasites and their hosts provide an informative and easy-to-handle system for studying *** brood parasitism reduces the reproductive success of hosts,and thus,hosts have evolved anti-parasitic strategies,such as rejecting parasitic eggs and adopting aggressive nest defense strategies,to avoid the cost brought on by brood *** test whether host anti-parasitic strategies are adjusted with the risk of being parasitized when the breeding seasons of brood parasites and hosts are not synchronous,we conducted a field experiment assessing nest defense and egg recognition behaviors of the Isabelline Shrike(Lanius isabellinus),a host of the Common Cuckoo(Cuculus canorus).In the local area,the host Isabelline Shrike begins to breed in April,whereas the summer migratory Common Cuckoo migrates to the local area in May and begins to lay parasitic *** showed that nest defense behaviors of the Isabelline Shrike increases significantly after cuckoo arrival,showing higher aggressiveness to cuckoo dummies,with no significant difference in attack rates among cuckoo,sparrowhawk and dove dummies,but their egg rejection did not change *** results imply that Isabelline Shrikes may adjust their nest defense behavior,but not egg rejection behavior,with seasonality.

In the pursuit of high-performance single-molecule magnets（SMMs）,incorporating intramolecular magnetic coupling emerges as a pivotal *** these,d-f SMMs have garnered significant attention due to their remarkable versatility,which lies in their ability to tune coordination environments and facilely substitute metal ***,achieving performance-centric d-f SMMs through the synergistic interplay between highly anisotropic f ions and d-f magnetic interactions remains a formidable *** mononuclear hexagonal bipyramidal(D6h) DyⅢSMMs have been successfully isolated,the exploration of d-f SMMs featuring D6h-lanthanide metal centers remains uncharted *** this study,we employed planar bipodal ligands in conjunction with “staple-like” axial phenoxide ligands to synthesize the first hexagonal bipyramidal d-f ***,this compound exhibits alternating-current magnetic susceptibilities peaking up to 68 K with an energy barrier surpassing 1,200 K,thus establishing a new benchmark within the heterometallic d-f SMM landscape inclusive of complexes with diamagnetic d metals and paramagnetic f ***,the ferromagnetic interaction at the d-f sites engenders oscillating relaxation times contingent on the magnetic field—a characteristic distinct from mononuclear *** findings shed light on a deliberate design approach for d-f SMMs,emphasizing the cooperative utilization of high-barrier lanthanide modules alongside d ions through magnetic *** synergy significantly enhances and diversifies the magnetic dynamics of these intriguing molecular systems.
