Regulation of shear stress on rolling behaviors of HL-60 cells on P-selectin

Circulating leukocytes in trafficking to the inflammatory sites, will be first tether to, and then roll on the vascular surface. This event is mediated through specific interaction of P-selectin and P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 （PSGL-1）, and regulated by hemodynamics. Poor data were reported in understanding P-selectin-mediated rolling. With the flow chamber technique, we herein observed HL-60 cell rolling on P-selectin with or without 3% Ficoll at various wall shear stresses from 0.05 to 0.4 dyn/cm：. The results demonstrated that force rather than transport regulated the rolling, similar to rolling on L- and E-selectin. The rolling was accelerated quickly by an increasing force below the optimal shear threshold of 0.15 dyn/cm2 first and then followed by a slowly decelerating phase starting at the optimum, showing a catch-slip transition and serving as a mechanism for the rolling. The catch-slip transition was completely reflected to the tether lifetime and other rolling parameters, such as the mean and fractional stop time. The narrow catch bond regime stabilized the rolling quickly, through steeply increasing frac- tional stop time to a plateau of about 0.85. Data presented here suggest that the low shear stress threshold serves as a mecha- nism for most cell rolling events through P-selectin.

The positive temperature coefficient (PTC) effect is characterized by an increase of resistivity with an elevated temperature. The PTC effect of carbon black (CB) filled polymers is useful for self-regulation heaters, over-current protectors and sensors. The influence of γ-ray irradiation on the PTC effect of CB filled amorphous ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) composites is studied.

The CHASE satellite is designed based on the novel ultra-high pointing accuracy and stability levitated-body satellite platform,which breaks the traditional idea of rigidly connecting the satellite platform and payload. When operating in orbit, the platform and payload are non-connected and spatially levitated. By separately arranging the “noisy” and “quiet” devices, the complicated influence of platform vibration on the payload pointing direction is effectively avoided. Using the novel master-slave collaborative control method, the pointing accuracy and stability of the payload are improved considerably. In this paper, the basic principles, overall scheme, control method, and engineering implementation of a levitated-body satellite platform are *** with the CHASE mission in-orbit data, the actual attitude pointing precision and stability of a levitated-body satellite platform are analyzed and evaluated.

Terrain plays a key role in landscape pattern formation, particularly in the transition zones from mountains to *** the relationships between terrain characteristics and landscape types in terrain-complex areas can help reveal the mechanisms underlying the relationships. In this study, Qihe River Basin, situated in the transition zone from the Taihang Mountains to the North-China Plain, was selected as a case study area. First, the spatial variations in the relief amplitudes(i.e.,high-amplitude terrain undulations) were analyzed. Second, the effects of relief amplitudes on the landscape patterns were indepth investigated from the perspectives of both landscape types and landscape indices. Finally, a logistic regression model was employed to examine the relationships between the landscape patterns and the influencing factors(natural and human) at different relief amplitudes. The results show that with increasing relief amplitude, anthropogenic landscapes gradually give in to natral landscapes. Specifically, human factors normally dominate the gentle areas(e.g., flat areas) in influencing the distribution of landscape types, and natural factors normally dominate the highly-undulating areas(e.g., moderate relief areas). As for the intermediately undulating areas(i.e.,medium relief amplitudes), a combined influence of natural and human factors result in the highest varieties of landscape types. The results also show that in micro-relief areas and small relief areas where natural factors and human factors are more or less equally active,landscape types are affected by a combination of natural and human *** combination leads to a high fragmentation and a high diversity of landscape patterns. It seems that appropriate human interferences in these areas can be conducive to enhancing landscape diversity and that inappropriate human interferences can aggravate the problems of landscape fragmentation.

Rechargeable Al-ion batteries(AIBs)are considered as one of the most fascinating energy storage systems due to abundant Al resource and low ***,the cycling stability is subjected to critical problems for using Al foil as negative electrode,including Al dendrites,corrosion and *** addressing these problems,here a lightweight self-supporting N-doped carbon rod array(NCRA)is demonstrated for a long-life negative electrode in *** analysis and first-principle calculations reveal the storage mechanism involving the induced deposition of N-containing function groups to Al as well as the ideal skeleton of the NCRA matrix for Al plating/stripping,which is favorable for regulating Al nucleation and suppressing dendrites *** with the Al foil,the NCRA exhibits lower areal mass density(∼72%of Al foil),smaller thickness(40%of Al foil),but much longer cycle life(>4 times of Al foil).Benefiting from the remarkable stability of the array structure,symmetric cells show excellent cycling stability with small voltage hysteresis(∼80 mV)and meanwhile there are no corrosion and pulverization problems even after cycled for 120 ***,full cells also manifest long lifespan(1,500 cycles)and increased Coulombic efficiency(100±1%).
