Use of forestry waste as an alternative raw material for generating metallurgical coke

Forestry waste(FW)is a significant renewable energy source in *** substitution of coal blends(BC)with forestry waste to produce metallurgical coke was investigated aiming at expanding alternative resources and reducing CO_(2)emissions in ironmaking *** BC with different ratios of FW were carbonized in a fixed bed reactor,and the physicochemical structure of the coke derived from FW/BC co-carbonization was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,solid-state^(13)C nuclear magnetic resonance,optical microscopy,and scanning electron *** results reveal that the suitable incorporation of FW in BC is 10 wt.%,and the index of coke quality exhibits a good correlation with the optical anisotropy index and the aromaticity of the as-obtained *** partial substitution of BC with FW exhibits potential benefits for colloid formation,owing to the higher hydrogen in ***,as the substitution ratio of BC with FW increases,it inhibits coke agglomeration due to more tortuous stacked structures formation during volatile releasing ***,it was identified that the substitution of higher BC ratios with FW results in the partial replacement of aromatic carbons by oxygenlinked carbons and aliphatic *** substitution leads to a reduction in the aromaticity of the as-obtained coke.

Anther dehiscence is a crucial event in plant reproduction,tightly regulated and dependent on the lignification of the anther *** this study,we investigated the rapid lignification process that ensures timely anther dehiscence in *** findings reveal that endothecium lignification can be divided into two distinct *** Phase Ⅰ,lignin precursors are synthesized without polymerization,while Phase Ⅱ involves simultaneous synthesis of lignin precursors and *** transcription factors MYB26,NST1/2,and ARF17 specifically regulate the pathway responsible for the synthesis and polymerization of lignin monomers in Phase Ⅱ.MYB26-NST1/2 is the key regulatory pathway responsible for endothecium lignification,while ARF17 facilitates this process by interacting with ***,our results demonstrate that the lignification of the endothecium,which occurs within approximately 26 h,is much faster than that of the vascular *** findings provide valuable insights into the regulation mechanism of rapid lignification in the endothecium,which enables timely anther dehiscence and successful pollen release during plant reproduction.

Anticancer effect of Jinlongshe granules on in situ-transplanted human MKN-45 gastric cancer in nude mice and xenografted sarcoma 180 in Kunming mice and its mechanism

AIM： To study the antitumor effect of Chinese compound Jinlongshe （JLS） granules on sarcoma 180 and MKN-45 human gastric cancer cell lines in vivo and its mechanism. METHODS： After establishment of S180 sarcoma （S180） and MKN-45 gastric cancer model of nude mice, the tumor-bearing mice were divided into 5 groups at random. Three experimental groups were respectively given the aqueous extract of JLS granules at doses of 120 g, 60 g and 20 g/（kg per 6/wk,i.g） for 3 wk in S180 and 6 wk in nude mice model. Positive control was given cyclophosphamide （Cy） at a dose of 50 mg/（kg per 3/wk, i.g） for 3 wk in S180 models and 5-Fluorouracil （5-FU） 20 mg/（kg per 3/wk, i.g） for 3 wk in nude mice model. Negative control was given normal saline （NS） at a dose of 0.18 g/（kg per 6/wk, i.g） respectively. After 3 wk in mice bearing S180 tumor and 6 wk in nude mice model, the experimental animals were sacrificed and the masses of tumor were weighed, and the rates of tumor inhibition of each treated group were calculated respectively. To determine the antitumor mechanisms, the morphological changes, cell cycle and apoptosis were observed in MKN-45 nude mice model. Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining FCM assay was used to further determine the live cells, apoptotic cells, necrotic cells and debris. RESULTS： The inhibitory rates of JLS granules at the doses of 20 g/kg, 60 g/kg and 120 g/kg were 50.31%, 55.94% and 68.13% （P 〈 0.01） in nude mice models and 40.90%, 50.32% and 58.46% （P 〈 0.01） in S180 model. The inhibitory rate of Cy was 85.22% in S180 models and the inhibitory rate of 5-FU was 53.43% in nude mice model （P 〈 0.01）. Nuclear chromatin and margination were observed under a transmission electron microscope （TEM）. The G0/G1 phase was arrested, typical apoptotic peak appeared, the apoptotic rate was 22.81%-38.54% in three JLS granule-treated groups. Exit options sustain altruistic punishment and decrease the second-order free-riders, but it is not a panacea

Why do humans punish free riders at their own expense? This behavior represents an evolutionary puzzle in human societies. This study explores the role of exit strategies in fostering altruistic punishment within evolutionary game theory. We extend the traditional prisoner's dilemma model by incorporating exiters, players who opt out for a small payoff while nullifying their opponent's payoff, and altruistic punishers who cooperate and punish non-cooperators. Our findings indicate that in well-mixed populations, exiters destabilize defection but do not promote altruistic punishment. In social networks, however,exiters enable altruistic punishment via cyclic dominance among altruistic punishers, defectors, and exiters. Notably, this cyclic dominance is sensitive to exit payoffs; adjustments can lead to cyclic dominance of non-punishing cooperators, defectors, and exiters, or to a bi-stable state between these two types of cyclic dominance. These results highlight the nuanced impact of exiters on altruistic punishment, emphasizing the need for careful incentivization of exit behavior. While exiters can support altruistic punishment in networked populations, their effectiveness is not a panacea and is highly sensitive to exit payoffs, indicating limits to the voluntary participation mechanism.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)is a novel meta-material which can form a smart radio environment by dynamically altering reflection directions of the impinging electromagnetic *** the prior literature,the inter-RIS links which also contribute to the performance of the whole system are usually neglected when multiple RISs are *** this paper we investigate a general double-RIS assisted multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)wireless communication system under spatially correlated non line-of-sight propagation channels,where the cooperation of the double RISs is also *** design objective is to maximize the achievable ergodic rate based on full statistical channel state information(CSI).Specifically,we firstly present a closedform asymptotic expression for the achievable ergodic rate by utilizing replica method from statistical *** a full statistical CSI-enabled optimal design is proposed which avoids high pilot training overhead compared to instantaneous CSI-enabled *** further reduce the signal processing overhead and lower the complexity for practical realization,a common-phase scheme is proposed to design the double *** results show that the derived asymptotic ergodic rate is quite accurate even for small-sized antenna *** the proposed optimization algorithm can achieve substantial gain at the expense of a low overhead and ***,the cooperative double-RIS assisted MIMO framework is proven to achieve superior ergodic rate performance and high communication reliability under harsh propagation environment.

Territorial Ecological Restoration with a High-carbon Storage Focus in the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration of China:Insights from Carbon Metabolism Spatial Security Patterns

This study focuses on urgent research on restoring and enhancing carbon storage capacity in the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomer-ation of China,a key area in the‘Belt and Road’Initiative,which aligns with carbon peaking and neutrality *** research ana-lyzes the spatial characteristics of carbon metabolism from 2000 to 2020 and uses models to identify stable carbon sink areas,positive carbon flow corridors,and carbon sequestration *** goal is to construct a carbon metabolism spatial security pattern(CMSSP)and propose territorial ecological restoration strategies under different development demand *** results show the following:1)in 2020,the study area’s carbon sink decreased by 8.29×10^(4) t C/yr compared with that in 2010 and by 10.83×10^(4) t C/yr compared with that in ***-carbon sinks were found mainly in mountainous areas,whereas low-carbon sinks are concentrated in urban con-struction land,rural residential areas,and land margins.2)From 2000 to 2020,the spatial security pattern of carbon metabolism tended to be‘high in the middle of the east and west and low in the gulf.’In 2000,2010,and 2020,16 stable carbon sinks were *** carbon energy flow density in Guangxi was greater than that in Guangdong and Hainan,with positive carbon flow corridors located primarily in Guangxi and *** number of carbon sequestration nodes remained stable at approximately 15,mainly in Guangxi and Hainan.3)Scenario simulations revealed that under the Nature-based mild restoration scenario,the carbon sink rate will reach 611.85×10^(4) t C/yr by 2030 and increase to 612.45×10^(4) t C/yr by 2060,with stable carbon sinks increasing to *** the restora-tion scenario based on Anti-globalization,the carbon sink will decrease from 610.24×10^(4) t C/yr in 2030 to 605.19×10^(4) t C/yr in 2060,with the disappearance of some positive carbon flow corridors and stable carbon *** the Human-based sustainable restoration scenario,the carbon sink area wil

Polyvinyl alcohol fiber with enhanced strength and modulus and intense cyan fluorescence based on covalently functionalized graphene quantum dots

In this study, we proposed a novel and efficient way to strengthen polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fiber using graphene quantum dots(GQDs). PVA molecular chains were grafted onto the surface of GQDs through Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction to obtain functionalized GQDs(f-GQDs), and PVA/f-GQDs composite fiber was successfully prepared by wet spinning and post-treatment. The tensile strength and Young's modulus of the composite fiber reached up to 1229.24 MPa and 35.36 GPa which were approximately twice and 4 times those of the pure PVA fiber, respectively. Moreover, the composite fiber was demonstrated excellent resistance to solvents. In addition, the PVA/f-GQDs composite fiber showed intense and uniform cyan fluorescence, meanwhile, it could maintain stable solid-state fluorescence in acid and alkali solutions and particularly after long-term immersion in water(1 month). This study proposes a promising route for obtaining high-performance conventional fibers with some new functions.

Factors influencing vaginal cuff dehiscence after laparoscopic hysterectomy and the psychological state of the patients

BACKGROUND Despite laparoscopic total hysterectomy provided more benefits to patients and has become one of the most commonly used surgical methods for total ***,vaginal cuff dehiscence is a serious complication after laparoscopic total hysterectomy and so far,there are limited studies on vaginal cuff dehiscence after a total *** To investigate the factors influencing vaginal cuff dehiscence after laparoscopic hysterectomy and the psychological state of the *** This study retrospectively,univariately,and multivariately analyzed the clinical data of patients who experienced vaginal cuff dehiscence after laparoscopic hysterectomy in Yuyao People’s Hospital from January 2015 to December *** regression was utilized to analyze the high-risk factors of vaginal cuff *** Among 1459 cases with laparoscopic hysterectomy,9 reported vaginal cuff dehiscence postoperatively,with an incidence of 0.617%.Univariate logistic regression analysis revealed that preoperative hemoglobin value[odds ratio(OR)=5.12,P=0.016],vaginal cuff suture method(OR=0.26,P=0.048),and postoperative first sexual lifetime(OR=15.86,P=0.002)were associated with vaginal cuff dehiscence following laparoscopic *** logistic regression analysis revealed that preoperative hemoglobin value of<90 g/L(OR=5.17,P=0.015)and time interval between postoperative first sexual life and operation of<3 months(OR=54.00,P=0.004)are independent risk factors for vaginal cuff dehiscence after laparoscopic *** Postoperative hemoglobin and the time interval between postoperative first sexual life and operation were the independent factors of developing vaginal cuff dehiscence after laparoscopic hysterectomy.
