In response to the increasing penetration of volatile and uncertain renewable energy,the regional transmission organizations(RTOs)have been recently focusing on enhancing the models of pump storage hydropower(PSH)plants,which are one of the key flexibility assets in the day-ahead(DA)and real-time(RT)markets,to further boost their flexibility provision *** by the recent research works that explored the potential benefits of excluding PSHs’cost-related terms from the objective functions of the DA market clearing model,this paper completes a rolling RT market scheme that is compatible with the DA ***,with the vision that PSHs could be permitted to submit state-of-charge(SOC)headrooms in the DA market and to release them in the RT market,this paper uncovers that PSHs could increase the total revenues from the two markets by optimizing their SOC headrooms,assisted by the proposed tri-level optimal SOC headroom ***,in the proposed tri-level model,the middle and lower levels respectively mimic the DA and RT scheduling processes of PSHs,and the upper level determines the optimal headrooms to be submitted to the RTO for maximizing the total revenue from the two *** case studies quantify the profitability of the optimal SOC headroom submissions as well as the associated financial risks.

Copper particles emitted from braking have become a significant source of environmental ***,copper plays a crucial role in resin-based braking *** high-performance braking materials without copper has become a significant *** this paper,the resin-based braking materials were filled with flyash cenospheres to develop copper-free braking *** effects of fly-ash cenospheres on the physical properties,mechanical and friction and wear properties of braking materials were ***,the wear mechanism of copper-free resin-based braking materials filled with fly-ash cenospheres was *** results indicate that the inclusion of fly-ash cenospheres in the braking materials improved their thermal stability,hardness and impact strength,reduced their density,effectively increased the friction coefficient at medium and high temperatures,and enhanced the heat-fade resistance of the braking *** inclusion of fly-ash cenospheres contributed to the formation of surface friction film during the friction process of the braking materials,and facilitated the transition of form from abrasive wear to adhesive *** 100-350℃,the friction coefficient of the optimal formulation is in the range of 0.57-0.61,and the wear rate is in the range(0.29-0.65)×10^(-7) cm^(3)·N^(-1)·m^(-1),demonstrating excellent resistance to heat-fade and stability in friction *** research proposes the use of fly-ash cenospheres as a substitute for environmentally harmful and expensive copper in brake materials,which not only improves the performance of braking materials but also reduces their costs.

Artificial visual systems can recognize desired objects and information from complex environments, and are therefore highly desired for pattern recognition, object detection, and imaging applications. However, state-of-the-art artificial visual systems with high recognition performances that typically consist of electronic devices face the challenges of requiring huge storage space and high power consumption owing to redundant data. Here, we report a terahertz(THz) frequency-selective surface using a graphene split-ring resonator driven by ferroelectric polarization for efficient visual system applications. The downward polarization of the ferroelectric material offers an ultrahigh electrostatic field for doping p-type graphene with an anticipated Fermi level. By optimizing the geometric parameters of the devices and modulating the carrier behaviors of graphene, our plasmonic devices exhibit a tunable spectral response in a range of 1.7–6.0 THz with continuous transmission values. The alloptical neural network using graphene plasmonic surfaces designed in this study exhibited excellent performance in visual preprocessing and convolutional filtering and achieved an ultrahigh recognition accuracy of up to 99.3% in training the Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology(MNIST) handwritten digit dataset. These features demonstrate the great potential of graphene plasmonic devices for future smart artificial vision systems.

Organic electrode materials(OEMs)have attracted substantial attention for aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)due to their advantages in relieving resource and environmental ***,the potential of OEMs is plagued by their low achievable capacity and high ***,we have proposed a new concept of“co-coordination force”and designed a rigid-flexible coupling crystalline polymer that can overcome the abovementioned *** obtained crystalline polymer(BQSPNs)with multiredox centres makes the BQSPNs exist intermolecular hydrogen bonds(HB)among-C=O,-C=N,and-NH and consequently exhibits transverse two-dimensional arrays and longitudinalπ-πstacking ***,in-situ FTIR,Raman,variable temperature FTIR spectra,and 2D nuclear overhauser effect spectroscopy(NOESY)well capture the existence and evolution process of HB during the electrochemistry reaction process of BQSPNs,uncovering the effect of HB in stabilizing the structure and promoting the reaction *** a result,the BQSPNs with rationally designed“co-coordination force”deliver a high capacity of 459.6 m Ah/g and a stable cycling lifetime for more than 100,000 cycles at 10 A/g in *** results disclose the HB effect and provide a brand-new strategy for high-performance OEMs design.

In the existing small-signal stability constrained op-timal power flow(SSSC-OPF)algorithms,only the rightmost ei-genvalue or eigenvalues that do not satisfy a given threshold,e.g.,damping ratio threshold and real-part threshold of eigen-value,are considered in the small-signal stability *** effect of steady-state,i.e.,operating point,changes on eigen-values is not fully taken into *** this paper,the small-signal stability constraint that can fully reflect the eigenvalue change and system dynamic performance requirement is formed by analyzing the eigenvalue distribution on the complex *** small-signal stability constraint is embedded into the standard optimal power flow model for generation *** simultaneous solution formula of the SSSC-OPF is es-tablished and solved by the quasi-Newton approach,while pen-alty factors corresponding to the eigenvalue constraints are de-termined by the stabilization degree of constrained *** improve the computation speed,a hybrid algorithm for ei-genvalue computation in the optimization process is proposed,which includes variable selection for eigenvalue estimation and strategy selection for eigenvalue *** effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested and validated on the New England 10-machine 39-bus system and a modified practical 68-machine 2395-bus system.

Gene expression changes in patients with fulminant type 1 diabetes

Background Fulminant type 1 diabetes （F1D） is a complex disease. Microarray analysis was used to identify gene expression changes and obtain understanding of the underlying mechanisms. Methods Microarray analysis was performed on peripheral blood mononuclear cells from six F1D patients and six matched healthy subjects. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to verify the differentially expressed genes. NK cell activity was detected by methyl thiazoleterazolium assay. Results Microarray analysis identified 759 genes differing in expression between F1D patients and controls at a false discovery rate of 0.05. Expression of TLR9, ELF4 and ILIRAP were verified and consistent with changes in microarray results. NK cell activity was decreased in FID. With use of a knowledge base, differentially expressed genes could be placed within different pathways with predicted functions including interleukin-1, and tumor necrosis factor-a signaling. Conclusions These results identify several genes indicating possible mechanisms in FID. NK cell dysfunction resulting from changes in expression of TLR9, ELF4 and IL1RAP, and pathways of interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor-a sianalino miaht be involved in F1D throuoh inducino B-cell dysfunction.

Accurate intelligent reasoning systems are vital for intelligent *** this study,a new intelligent reasoning system was developed for milling processes to accurately predict tool wear and dynamically optimize machining *** developed system consists of a self-learning algorithm with an improved particle swarm optimization(IPSO)learning algorithm,prediction model determined by an improved case-based reasoning(ICBR)method,and optimization model containing an improved adaptive neural fuzzy inference system(IANFIS)and *** results showed that the IPSO algorithm exhibited the best global convergence *** ICBR method was observed to have a better performance in predicting tool wear than standard CBR *** IANFIS model,in combination with IPSO,enabled the optimization of multiple objectives,thus generating optimal milling *** paper offers a practical approach to developing accurate intelligent reasoning systems for sustainable and intelligent manufacturing.

In this study,a new method was developed to realize two-dimensional(2D)figure correction of grazing-incidence X-ray mirrors using a one-dimensional(1D)ion-beam figuring system.A mask of holes was specifically designed to generate removal functions at different widths and extend the figuring capability over a wide ***,a long mirror could be *** this method,the surface height root-mean-square(RMS)error of the center area of 484 mm×16 mm was reduced from 11.49 nm to 2.01 nm,and the 1D meridional RMS error reached 1.0 *** proposed method exhibits high precision and cost effectiveness for production of long X-ray mirrors.

Light-induced electron transfer can broaden the substrate range of ***,the efficiency of photo-enzyme coupling is limited by the poor combination of photosensitizer or photocatalyst with ***,we prepared the nano-photocatalyst MIL-125-NH_(2)@Ru(bpy)by in site embedding ruthenium pyridine-diimine complex[Ru(bpy)_(3)^(2+)into metal organic frameworks MIL-125-NH_(2)and associated it with multicopper oxidase(MCO)*** to[Ru(bpy)_(3)]^(2+),the coupling efficiency of MIL-125-NH_(2)@Ru(bpy)_(3)for enzymatic oxygen reduction increased by 35.7%.A series of characterizations confirmed that the amino group of laccase formed chemical bonds with the surface defects or hydrophobic groups of MIL-125-NH_(2)@Ru(bpy)_(3).Consequently,the tight binding accelerated the quenching process and electron transfer between laccase and the immobilized ruthenium pyridine-diimine *** work would open an avenue for the synthesis of MOFs photocatalyst towards photo-enzyme coupling.
