Geographical patterns and determinants of insect biodiversity in China

Insects play important roles in the maintenance of ecosystem functioning and the provision of livelihoods for millions of ***,compared with terrestrial vertebrates and angiosperms,such as the giant panda,crested ibis,and the metasequoia,insect conservation has not attracted enough attention,and a basic understanding of the geographical biodiversity patterns for major components of insects in China is ***,we investigated the geographical distribution of insect biodiversity across multiple dimensions(taxonomic,genetic,and phylogenetic diversity)based on the spatial distribution and molecular DNA sequencing data of *** analysis included 18 orders,360 families,5,275 genera,and 14,115 species of *** results revealed that Southwestern and Southeastern China harbored higher insect biodiversity and numerous older lineages,representing a museum,whereas regions located in Northwestern China harbored lower insect biodiversity and younger lineages,serving as an evolutionary *** also observed that mean annual temperature and precipitation had significantly positive effects,whereas altitude had significantly negative effects on insect biodiversity in most ***,cultivated vegetation harbored the highest insect taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity,and needleleaf and broadleaf mixed forests harbored the highest insect genetic *** results indicated that human activities may positively contribute to insect spatial diversity on a regional *** study fills a knowledge gap in insect spatial diversity in *** findings could help guide national-level conservation plans and the post-2020 biodiversity conservation framework.

Background Plasmodium falciparum-resistance to sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine(SP)has been largely reported among pregnant ***,the profile of resistance markers to SP dihydrofolate reductase(dhfr)and dihydropteroate synthase(dhps)in the general population are varied and not frequently ***,SP is used as partner drug for artemisinin combination therapy(SP-artesunate)in some sub-Saharan African countries or as a prophylactic drug in intermittent preventive treatment of malaria during pregnancy and infants and in seasonal malaria chemoprevention(SMC).Profiling of ***-resistant genotypes to SP is dynamic and critical in providing data that would be useful for malaria control *** study assessed the profile of dhfr and dhps genes genotypes among individuals with malaria in Lagos,*** Molecular markers of SP resistance were identified by nested PCR and sequenced among malaria positive dried blood spots(DBS)that were collected from individuals attending health facilities from January 2013 to February 2014 and during community surveys from October 2010 to September 2011 across different Local Government Areas of Lagos State,*** A total of 242 and 167 samples were sequenced for dhfr and dhps,*** analysis of dhfr showed that 95.5%(231/242),96.3%(233/242)and 96.7%(234/242)of the samples had N51I,C59R and S108N mutant alleles,*** prevalence of dhps mutation at codons A437G,A613S,S436A,A581G,I431V and K540E were 95.8%(160/167),41.9%(70/167),41.3%(69/167),31.1%(52/167),25.1%(42/167),and 1.2%(2/167)*** prevalence of triple mutations(CIRNI)in dhfr was 93.8%and 44.3%for the single dhps haplotype mutation(SGKAA).Partial SP-resistance due to quadruple dhfr-dhps haplotype mutations(CIRNI-SGKAA)and octuple haplotype mutations(CIRNI-VAGKGS)with rate of 42.6%and 22.0%,respectively has been *** There was increased prevalence in dhfr triple haplotype mutations when com

Variable section sweeping with sphere involutes is used to generate the precise model of tooth profile. The contact and bending stress of a straight conical gear set with static bearing contact during a meshing cycle is studied using finite element method. Numerical results and comments are presented, revealing that the edge contact causes stress concentration and the gear tooth profile needs further modification.

The production of Lycium barbarum *** a labor-intensive *** manual harvests are required during the harvesting season,which contributes to the high harvesting *** cultivation conditions of *** were investigated to increase efficiency and mitigate harvesting damage.A torsion harvester was designed according to the characteristic of infinite inflorescence and the distribution of detachment force,and the kinematics model of the harvester was *** vibration responses of ripe and unripe fruit were obtained through ADAMS simulation of the branch model,and the influencing factors and value range of the torsion harvester were also *** mathematical models of ripe fruit harvesting rate,unripe fruit harvesting rate,ripe fruit damage rate and torsion angle,vibration rods distance,and vibration frequency were established by the Box-Behnken *** influences of various factors on ripe fruit harvesting rate,unripe fruit harvesting rate,and ripe fruit damage rate were analyzed,and the best parameter combination was obtained:torsion angle 73.66°,vibration rods distance 35.51 mm and vibration frequency 19.12 *** experiment showed that the harvesting rate of ripe fruit is 95.67%,the harvesting rate of unripe fruit is 4.68%,and the damage rate of ripe fruit is 3.70%.The research results can promote the mechanization process of *** harvest,and provide a reference for vibration harvest of berries.

Malaria was once one of the most serious public health problems in China,with more than 30 million malaria cases annually before ***,the disease burden has sharply declined and the epidemic areas has shrunken after the implementation of an integrated malaria control and elimination strategy,especially since *** now,China has successfully scaled up its efforts to become malaria-free and is currently being evaluated for malaria-free certification by the *** the battle against malaria,China's efforts have spanned generations,reducing from an incidence high of 122.9/10000(6.97 million cases)in 1954 to 0.06/10000(7855 cases)in *** 2017,for the first time,China reached zero indigenous case of malaria,putting the country on track to record three consecutive years of zero transmission by 2020,accoding to the National Malaria Elimination Action Plan(2010-2020).China's efforts to eliminate malaria is impressive,and the country is dedicated to sharing its lessons learned in malaria elimination-including,but not limited to,the application of novel genetics-based approaches-with other nations through new *** will promote international relationships and establish collaborative platforms on a wide range of topics in roughly 65 countries,including 20 African ***'s experience in applying innovative genetics-based approaches and tools to characterize malaria parasite populations,including surveillance of markers related to drug resistance,categorization of cases as indigenous or imported,and objective identification of the likely sources of infections to inform efforts towards malaria control and elimination in Africa could offer game-changing results when applied to settings with ongoing transmission.

Interval model updating(IMU)methods have been widely used in uncertain model updating due to their low requirements for sample ***,the surrogate model in IMU methods mostly adopts the one-time construction *** makes the accuracy of the surrogate model highly dependent on the experience of users and affects the accuracy of IMU ***,an improved IMU method via the adaptive Kriging models is *** method transforms the objective function of the IMU problem into two deterministic global optimization problems about the upper bound and the interval diameter through universal grey *** optimization problems are addressed through the adaptive Kriging models and the particle swarm optimization(PSO)method to quantify the uncertain parameters,and the IMU is *** the construction of these adaptive Kriging models,the sample space is gridded according to sensitivity *** sampling is then performed in key subspaces based on the maximum mean square error(MMSE)*** interval division coefficient and random sampling coefficient are adaptively adjusted without human interference until the model meets accuracy *** effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by a numerical example of a three-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system and an experimental example of a butted cylindrical *** results show that the updated results of the interval model are in good agreement with the experimental results.

Exploring the structure-activity relationship between the performance of gas sensors and the structure of semiconductor metal oxide(SMO)nanomaterials is crucial for understanding and designing gas-sensing materials and overcoming the application limitations of SMO-based gas *** of a single SMO microstructure provides a promising solution to address this scientific problem due to its controllable *** this study,we control the grain boundary(GB)density of Fe_(2)O_(3)nanomaterials using a simple solvothermal *** have similar chemical compositions and crystal phases,providing an ideal platform for studying the influence of the GB density on the gas-sensing ***-sensing tests showed that the Fe_(2)O_(3)-1 sensor with medium GB density and the Fe_(2)O_(3)-2 sensor with high GB density had higher sensitivity and selectivity than the Fe_(2)O_(3)-0 sensors with low GB density before reaching the optimal operating ***,when the GB density increased,the response to acetone decreased slightly,whereas the optimal operating temperature *** work highlights the unique performance of the GB density in enhancing the gas sensitivity of a single SMO.
