Structural and functional variations of phytoplankton communities in the face of multiple disturbances

The global decline of freshwater biodiversity caused by climate change and human activities are supposed to disrupt ecosystem services related to water quality and alter the structure and function of aquatic communities across space and time,yet the effects of the combination of these factors on plankton community ecosystem has received relatively little *** study aimed to explore the impacts of disturbances(*** activity,temperature,precipitation,and water level)on phytoplankton community structure(*** evenness and community composition)and function(*** use efficiency)in four subtropical reservoirs over 7 years from 2010 to *** results showed that community turnover(measured as community dissimilarity)was positively related to disturbance frequency,but no significant correlation was found between phytoplankton biodiversity(***)and disturbance *** resource use efficiency(rUE=phytoplankton biomass/total phosphorus)was increased with a higher frequency of disturbance with an exception of *** rUE of Cyanobacteria and diatoms showed significantly negative correlations with their community evenness,while the rUE of Chlorophyta exhibited a positive correlation with their community *** suggest that multiple environmental disturbances may play crucial roles in shaping the structure and functioning of plankton communities in subtropical reservoirs,and mechanism of this process can provide key information for freshwater uses,management and conservation.

Urbanization often exerts multiple effects on aquatic and terrestrial organisms,including changes in biodiversity,species composition and ecosystem ***,the impacts of urbanization on river phytoplankton in subtropical urbanizing watersheds remain largely ***,we explored the effects of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure(i.e.,biomass,community composition and diversity)and function(i.e.,resource use efficiency)in a subtropical river at watershed scale in southeast China over 6 years.A total of 318 phytoplankton species belonging into 120 genera and 7 phyla were identified from 108 *** biomass showed an increasing trend with increasing urbanization *** phytoplankton community shifted from Chlorophyta dominance in rural upstream waters to Bacillariophyta dominance in urbanized downstream ***,phytoplankton diversity and resource use efficiency(rUE=phytoplankton biomass/total phosphorus)were significantly decreased with increasing urbanization level from upstream to *** rUE exhibited a significant positive correlation with species richness,but a negative correlation with phytoplankton *** variation in environmental factors(turbidity,total nitrogen,NH_(4)^(+)-N,total phosphorus,PO_(4)^(3-)-P and percentage urbanized area)was significantly correlated with phytoplankton diversity and ***,our results revealed the influence of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure and ecosystem function was due to its altering the environmental ***,human-driven urbanization may play crucial roles in shaping the structure and function of phytoplankton communities in subtropical rivers,and the mechanism of this process can provide important information for freshwater sustainable uses,watershed management and conservation.

High-mobility group box 1 was first discovered in the calf thymus as a DNA-binding nuclear protein and has been widely studied in diverse fields,including neurology and ***-mobility group box 1 in the extracellular space functions as a pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular pattern,which has been proven to play an important role in a wide variety of central nervous system disorders such as ischemic stroke,Alzheimer’s disease,frontotemporal dementia,Parkinson’s disease,multiple sclerosis,epilepsy,and traumatic brain *** drugs that inhibit high-mobility group box 1 as a damage-associated molecular pattern,such as glycyrrhizin,ethyl pyruvate,and neutralizing anti-high-mobility group box 1 antibodies,are commonly used to target high-mobility group box 1 activity in central nervous system *** it is commonly known for its detrimental inflammatory effect,high-mobility group box 1 has also been shown to have beneficial pro-regenerative roles in central nervous system *** this narrative review,we provide a brief summary of the history of high-mobility group box 1 research and its characterization as a damage-associated molecular pattern,its downstream receptors,and intracellular signaling pathways,how high-mobility group box 1 exerts the repair-favoring roles in general and in the central nervous system,and clues on how to differentiate the pro-regenerative from the pro-inflammatory *** targeting high-mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system may benefit from differentiating between the two functions rather than overall suppression of high-mobility group box 1.

Condensation behavior of gaseous phase during transported in the near-substrate boundary layer of plasma spray-physical vapor deposition

Plasma spray-physical vapor deposition(PS-PVD)has exhibited the potential ability to prepare columnar structures for advanced thermal barrier coatings(TBCs).The coating structure is nominally affected by operating parameters,but it is controlled by the type of deposition unit actually and *** order to realize the columnar structure deposited by gaseous phase units,the transition behavior of gaseous phase units to clusters must be fundamentally *** work investigated the transport process of gaseous phase units in the PS-PVD near-substrate boundary layer along with the condensation *** Monte Carlo method was used to examine the transport process and condensation behavior of gaseous phase units under different scale boundary *** results show that it is easier to form more numerous larger clusters at the edge of the plasma jet than at the *** on the understanding of the changes in deposition unit caused by the condensation of gaseous phase in the near-substrate boundary layer of PS-PVD,an outlook towards TBCs with different structures is *** it is in good agreement with the experimental data.

An Adaptive Time-Domain Kalman Filtering Approach to Acoustic Feedback Cancellation for Hearing Aids

The adaptive filtering approach has been widely used for acoustic feedback control in the hearing aids due to its excellent performance. The commonly used adaptive filtering algorithms employ a fixed step-size,which has to compromise between the initial convergence and the steady-state misalignment. Many variable stepsize adaptive algorithms have been proposed to handle this problem. In this paper, we propose a broadband Kalman filter to resolve this problem. The acoustic feedback path is modelled by a first-order Markov model,and the observation equation is constructed using more past data vector. A major issue in the hearing aids is the computational complexity. We thus present a simplified version to reduce the complexity, which bridges between the exact Kalman filter and the affine projection algorithm. The estimation of the process and measurement noise variance is discussed in detail. A two-feedbackpath model is adopted to improve the algorithm’s lack of re-convergence. Simulation results confirm the proposed algorithm clearly outperforms the other variable step-size adaptive filtering approaches.

Model and algorithm of flow interception problem with multi-type of flows

To study simultaneous location of different kinds of facilities, a new model of flow interception problem with multi-type of flows is proposed, with the consideration of multi-purpose flows and the influence of facilities on each other. To be more practical, the objective is to maximize the benefits from flow-by customers instead of maximizing flows in the past. Since this problem is NP-hard and there is no optimal solution for large network, greedy and improved greedy heuristic algorithms are proposed. A computational example is presented to show that the optimal location decisions are proved to be strongly dependent on the influence coefficients and average profits by one customer and different types of facilities are almost co-located. Finally the results of sensitivity analysis are reported.

A Privacy-preserving Algorithm for AC Microgrid Cyber-physical System Against False Data Injection Attacks

A new privacy-preserving algorithm based on the Paillier cryptosystem including a new cooperative control strategy is proposed in this paper, which can resist the false data injection(FDI) attack based on the finite-time control theory and the data encryption strategy. Compared with the existing algorithms, the proposed privacy-preserving algorithm avoids the direct transmission of the ciphertext of frequency data in communication links while avoiding complex iterations and communications. It builds a secure data transmission environment that can ensure data security in the AC microgrid cyber-physical system(CPS). This algorithm provides effective protection for AC microgrid CPS in different cases of FDI attacks. At the same time, it can completely eliminate the adverse effects caused by the FDI attack. Finally, the effectiveness, security, and advantages of this algorithm are verified in the improved IEEE 34-node test microgrid system with six distributed generators(DGs) in different cases of FDI attacks.

A Model-Based Unmatched Disturbance rejection Control Approach for Speed regulation of a Converter-Driven DC Motor Using Output-Feedback

The speed regulation problem with only speed measurement is investigated in this paper for a permanent magnet direct current(DC)motor driven by a buck *** lumping all unknown matched/unmatched disturbances and uncertainties together,the traditional active disturbance rejection control(ADrC)approach provides an intuitive solution for the problem under ***,for such a higher-order disturbed system,the increase of poles for the extended state observer(ESO)therein will lead to drastically growth of observer gains,which causes severe noise *** paper aims to propose a new model-based disturbance rejection controller for the converter-driven DC motor system using *** of estimating lumped disturbances directly,a new observer is constructed to estimate the desired steady state of control signal as well as errors between the real states and their desired steady-state ***,a controller with only speed measurement is proposed by utilizing the *** performance of the proposed method is tested through experiments on *** is further shown via numerical calculations and experimental results that the poles of the observer within the proposed control approach can be largely increased without significantly increasing magnitude of the observer gains.
