Microstructural analysis of organic matter in shale by SAXS and WAXS methods

Characterizing the kerogen-hosted pore structures is essential to understand the adsorption,transport and storage potential in organic-rich shale *** this paper,we first separated the organic matter(kerogen)from the mineral matrix in four different shale samples of the Bakken Formation with different thermal maturities and then analyzed their chemical compositions using the wide-angle X-ray scattering(WAXS)***,we acquired small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)to characterize the structure of the organic matter and see how these two will *** WAXS results showed that the isolated kerogens have high purity(free of inorganic minerals)and retain different chemical ***,SAXS analysis revealed that the isolated kerogens have similar radius of gyration(R_(g))which is around 90Åand the molecules are in the compact *** on the pore size distribution analysis from the SAXS data,two main peaks were found in all of these four samples with one peak less than 40Åand the other one larger than 1000Å.Also,the TEM images revealed that Sample 1 is abundant in pores with sizes around 20 nm while Sample 2 does not have pores of that size,which agrees with the results from the pore size distribution that was obtained from the SAXS ***,this study exhibits how different analytical instruments can provide us with useful information from complex structures of geomaterials.

Effects of visual information regarding tactile stimulation on the somatosensory cortical activation：a functional MRI study

Many studies have investigated the evidence for tactile and visual interactive responses to activation of various brain ***,few studies have reported on the effects of visuo-tactile multisensory integration on the amount of brain activation on the somatosensory cortical *** aim of this study was to examine whether coincidental information obtained by tactile stimulation can affect the somatosensory cortical activation using functional *** right-handed healthy subjects were recruited for this *** tasks（tactile stimulation and visuotactile stimulation）were performed using a block paradigm during f MRI *** the tactile stimulation task,in subjects with eyes closed,tactile stimulation was applied on the dorsum of the right hand,corresponding to the proximal to distal directions,using a rubber *** the visuotactile stimulation task,tactile stimulation was applied to observe the attached mirror in the MRI chamber reflecting their hands being touched with the *** the result of SPM group analysis,we found brain activation on the somatosensory cortical *** stimulation task induced brain activations in the left primary sensory-motor cortex（SM1）and secondary somatosensory cortex（S2）.In the visuo-tactile stimulation task,brain activations were observed in the both SM1,both S2,and right posterior parietal *** all tasks,the peak activation was detected in the contralateral *** examined the effects of visuo-tactile multisensory integration on the SM1 and found that visual information during tactile stimulation could enhance activations on SM1 compared to the tactile unisensory stimulation.

Is thalamocortical tract injury responsible for memory impairment in a patient with putaminal hemorrhage?

Prior to development of diffusion tensor imaging （DTI）, there were many difficulties in visualization and estimation of the Papez circuit in the live human brain （Papez, 1995）. Diffusion tensor tractography （DTT）, derived from DTI, allows for identification and visualization of neural tracts in the Papez circuit （Concha et al., 2005; Kwon et al., 2010; Granziera et al., 2011; jang and Yeo, 2013; jang et al., 2014a）. In the current study, using DTT, we report on a patient who showed injured thalamocortical tract between the anterior thalamic nuclei and the cingulate gyrus following a putaminal hemorrhage.

The arcuate fasciculus is the neural tract connecting the two major speech centers（Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas）and plays a critical role in language function（Catani and Mesulam,2008）.Injury of this tract can lead to several types of language impairment,including conduction aphasia,Broca’s aphasia,anomic aphasia,and apraxia of speech（Anderson et al.,1999;Bartha and Benke,2003;Catani and Mesulam,2008;Bernal and Ardila,2009;Kim et al.,2011）.

Cyberattacks on the Industrial Control System(ICS)have recently been increasing,made more intelligent by advancing *** such,cybersecurity for such systems is attracting *** a core element of control devices,the Programmable Logic Controller(PLC)in an ICS carries out on-site control over the ICS.A cyberattack on the PLC will cause damages on the overall ICS,with Stuxnet and Duqu as the most representative ***,cybersecurity for PLCs is considered essential,and many researchers carry out a variety of analyses on the vulnerabilities of PLCs as part of preemptive efforts against *** this study,a vulnerability analysis was conducted on the XGB *** vulnerabilities were identified by analyzing the network protocols and memory structure of PLCs and were utilized to launch replay attack,memory modulation attack,and FTP/Web service account theft for the verification of the *** on the results,the attacks were proven to be able to cause the PLC to malfunction and disable it,and the identified vulnerabilities were defined.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have attracted considerable interest as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries owing to their similar electrochemical performance and superior long-term cycle *** materials are regarded as promising anode materials for constructing SIBs with high capacity and good ***,utilization of organic materials is rather limited by their low energy density and poor stability at high current *** overcome these limitations,we utilized a novel polymeric disodium phthalocyanines(pNaPc)as SIB anodes to provide stable coordination sites for Na ions as well as to enhance the stability at high current *** varying the linker type during a one-pot cyclization and polymerization process,two pNaPc anodes with O-(O-pNaPc)and S-linkers(S-pNaPc)were prepared,and their structural and electrochemical properties were *** O-pNaPc binds Na ions with a lower binding energy compared with S-pNaPc,which leads to more facile Na-ion coordination/dissociation when engaged as SIB *** use of O-pNaPc significantly improves the redox kinetics and cycle stability and allows the fabrication of a full cell against Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(2)F_(3)/C cathode,which demonstrates its practical application with high energy density(288 Wh kg^(-1))and high power density(149 W kg^(-1)).

Complications of common bile duct stones: A risk factors analysis

Background: The latest guidelines recommended that common bile duct stones(CBDSs) should be removed, preferably endoscopically, regardless of the presence of symptoms or complications. however, the removal of CBDSs may not be feasible in very old patients or those with co-morbidities. In these cases, it is important to understand the risk factors for the development of CBDSs-related complications to decide whether or not to treat high-risk patients. Herein, we aimed to identify the risk factors for the development of complications after the diagnosis of CBDSs. Methods: The medical records of patients with CBDSs between October 2005 and September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients with radiologically-diagnosed CBDSs, including those who received treatment and those who did not, were analyzed. Results: A total of 634 patients were included and 95(15.0%) patients had CBDS-related complications during the mean follow-up period of 32.6 months. Forty-four(6.9%) high-risk patients remained asymptomatic and did not receive treatment during the follow-up period. In multivariate analyses, size of CBDSs ≥ 5 mm and no treatment within 30 days were independent risk factors for the development of complications. The spontaneous passage of CBDSs was proved radiologically in 9 out of 81(11.1%) patients within 30 days. Conclusions: It is recommended treating CBDSs within 30 days from the diagnosis, even in high-risk patients, especially if the size is larger than 5 mm.

Direct Synthesis of Molybdenum Phosphide Nanorods on Silicon Using Graphene at the Heterointerface for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Reduction

Transition metal phosphides(TMPs)and transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)have been widely investigated as photoelectrochemical(PEC)catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Using high-temperature processes to get crystallized compounds with large-area uniformity,it is still challenging to directly synthesize these catalysts on silicon photocathodes due to chemical incompatibility at the ***,a graphene interlayer is applied between p-Si and MoP nanorods to enable fully engineered interfaces without forming a metallic secondary compound that absorbs a parasitic light and provides an inefficient electron path for hydrogen ***,the graphene facilitates the photogenerated electrons to rapidly transfer by creating Mo-O-C covalent bondings and energetically favorable band *** a bridging role of graphene,numerous active sites and anti-reflectance of MoP nanorods lead to significantly improved PEC-HER performance with a high photocurrent density of 21.8 mA cm−2 at 0 V versus RHE and high ***,low dependence on pH and temperature is observed with MoP nanorods incorporated photocathodes,which is desirable for practical use as a part of PEC *** results indicate that the direct synthesis of TMPs and TMDs enabled by graphene interlayer is a new promising way to fabricate Si-based photocathodes with high-quality interfaces and superior HER performance.

Optimal design of auxiliary-teeth to solve circulation current reduction of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor

A discontinuity of magnetic circuits according to the end effect is generated in the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor （PMLSM）. Due to the unbalanced back electro-motive force （EMF） and impedance produced, unbalanced current is generated. The cireulatin8 current, which is caused by a decrease in the thrust, is generated by the unbalanced current. The optimal design of auxiliary-teeth at the end of the mover was carried out to solve the unbalance of phase by using design of experiment （DOE）, and compared with the basic model through finite element analysis （FEA）. As a result, the auxiliary-teeth model compensates for the decrease of thrust caused by the unbalanced phase. Also, this model is proven to reduce the detent force by the vibration and noise of the PMLSM and copper loss caused by the circulating current.

Survival analysis based on human epidermal growth factor 2 status in stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ gastric cancer

AIM To investigate human epidermal growth factor 2(HER2) overexpression and validate its prognostic effect in stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ gastric *** We reviewed the data of patients who were diagnosed with gastric cancer between March 2008 and October 2013 at the Yonsei University Medical Center. Among these patients, 384 patients who met the inclusion criteria were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS Thirty-two(8.3%) of the 384 stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ gastric cancer patients exhibited HER2 overexpression. The median follow-up duration was 26.0 mo. HER2-negative patients had superior recurrence-free survival(RFS) compared to HER2-positive patients(HR = 0.52, 95%CI: 0.30-0.89; P = 0.015). The median overall survival(OS) was significantly prolonged in the HER2-negative group compared with the HER2-positive group(55.0 mo vs 38.0 mo, HR = 0.43, 95%CI: 0.21-0.88, P = 0.021). OS was also prolonged in HER2-negative patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy compared to HER2-positive patients(55.0 vs 38.0mo, HR = 0.42, 95%CI: 0.18-1.00, P = 0.051). In patients who did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy,the median RFS was prolonged in the HER2-negative group compared to the HER2-positive group(not reached vs 12.0 mo, HR = 0.17, 95%CI: 0.06-0.49, P= 0.001). In a multivariate analysis, HER2 status(HR= 0.421, 95%CI: 0.206-0.861, P = 0.018) and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status(HR = 2.002, 95%CI: 1.530-2.618, P howed that HER2-positive patients had inferior OS and RFS. Stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ HER2-positive patients might be potential candidates for targeted therapies involving trastuzumab.
