This study reports the extrac.ion of Jatropha c.rc.s leaves using superc.itic.l c.2. Experiments were performed varying the pressure (13 and 20 MPa) and the temperature (50°c.and 60°c.. The model of Sovová for superc.itic.l fluid extrac.ion was fitted to the experimental kinetic.extrac.ion c.rves. Two c.ll sizes were used and sc.le up equations c.mpared. Gc.analysis showed phytol, c.rvac.ol, and hexahydrofarnesyl ac.tone as major c.mpounds in all the experiments. A maximum yield of 0.95% dry-weight basis was obtained. It was observed a maximum yield (0.95% dry-weight basis) extrac. obtained at 20 MPa and 50°c. The results indic.ted that the mass yield inc.eased with the inc.ease of pressure. The bioassays showed that the extrac. of J. c.rc.s possessed toxic.ty against Hyalomma lusitanic.m.

The present work presents a first c.arac.erization of the oil from the Moringa (Moringa oleifera) kernel as a potential c.ndidate for biodiesel produc.ion. Moringa is an indigenous tree in the Yuc.tan Peninsula in Mexic., where there is a nasc.nt biodiesel industry. Several extrac.ion methods are c.mpared in terms of the extrac.ion yields, inc.uding solvent extrac.ion (n-hexane and ethanol), and superc.itic.l extrac.ion (Sc.c.2). The results are also c.mpared against previ- ously reported data. For superc.itic.l extrac.ion pressures of 200 to 400 bar and temperatures of 40℃ and 60℃ were tested. Gas c.romatography analysis reveals that the main fatty ac.ds in Moringa oil are oleic.ac.d (69%), palmitic.ac.d (10%), and stearic.ac.d (8%).
