Complementiser and Complement Clause Preference for Verb-Heads in the Written English of Nigerian Undergraduates

This paper examines complementiser and complement clause preference for verb-heads in the written English of Nigerian undergraduates. Data for the study were obtained from the respondents through a written test designed to elicit the preference of complementisers and complement clause types of some verb-heads in English. The findings of the study showed a higher preference for clausal complements introduced by the complementiser that. Of the entire tokens of clausal complements in the data collected, 128 of them(54.46%) were complement clauses headed by that, while complement clauses introduced by whether and if complementisers had preference scores of 31.07% and 8.94% respectively. The complement clause-type which recorded the lowest preference was the one headed by the complementiser for(5.53%). Further findings from the study revealed that the semantic features of relevant embedding verb heads were sometimes not taken into consideration in the choice of complementisers which introduce certain complement clauses. The low preference of the forclause is explicable in terms of the fact that the respondents regarded for as a preposition, and not a complementiser.

Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)is an essential tool for detecting brain ***,identification of brain tumours in the early stages is a very complex task since MRI images are susceptible to noise and other environmental *** order to overcome these problems,a Gamma MAP denoised Strömberg wavelet segmentation based on a maximum entropy classifier(GMDSWS-MEC)model is developed for efficient tumour detection with high accuracy and low time *** GMDSWS-MEC model performs three steps,namely pre-processing,segmentation,and *** the GMDSWS-MEC model,the Gamma MAP filter performs the pre-processing task and achieves a significant increase in the peak signal-tonoise ratio by removing noisy artefacts from the input brain *** pre-processing,Strömberg wavelet transform segmentation is carried out to partition the pre-processed image into a number of blocks based on the features extracted from the ***,the maximum entropy classifier identifies and locates the tumour from the input image based on extracted features with high accuracy and minimal error *** a number of MRI images,experimental evaluation and comparison of the proposed model and existing methods is carried out on the basis of four metrics:peak signalto-noise ratio,tumour detection accuracy,error rate,and tumour detection time with respect to MRI image *** proposed model offers superior performance in terms of all four metrics.

供应链危机管理是减轻供应链工作过程中,从顾客到供应商的所有危机所做的种种尝试。与过去小的零售商将商品从工厂卖给消费者,供应链危机极小的情况相比,随着目前状态下供应链负责着很多的公司,其危机也在增加。面对着竞争和全球化的现实,和顾客的满意度以及业绩相关联的风险管理是必须的。在我的研究中,我分析了那些降级零售业经营业绩的风险,提出了缓解措施和相关的一件。风险通常是通过对商业活动中期待价值标准的偏差来测定的。我的研究仅限于定性研究,描述和解释会导致危机的时间,并叙述如何降级或者包容这些危机。这个论文分成五部分：首先是描述供应链风险概念的介绍,背景和目标。该领域的研究现状和问题也在这一部分。文献综述是在第二部分,包括了与所思考的话题有关的不同理论和过去关于这个话题所做的研究。所使用的方法主要案例研究中的数据收集的方法、数据收集的工具和数据分析的方法。问卷调查和采访提纲用在了数据分析的过程中,但主要是描述性的因此是定性的分析。3个案例分别是跨国和国内的三个超市,沃尔玛、麦德龙和洪客隆。这一部分是比较和分析对该领域的调查结果,这部分还包括了对主要风险的分析。针对顾客满意度和业绩的风险管理在第四章。第五章是结论和建议,包括对供求透明度和敏感度的建议以及身体上的伤害(例如在扶梯上发生的意外),这些都极大地影响了顾客的满意度并进而影响着利润。

Brain signal analysis plays a significant role in attaining data related to motor *** parietal region of the brain plays a vital role in muscular *** approach aims to demonstrate a unique technique to identify an ideal region of the human brain that generates signals responsible for muscular movements;perform statistical analysis to provide an absolute characterization of the signal and validate the obtained results using a prototype *** can enhance the practical implementation of these frequency extractions for future neuro-prosthetic applications and the characterization of neurological diseases like Parkinson’s disease(PD).To play out this handling method,electroencepha-logram(EEG)signals are gained while the subject is performing different wrist and elbow ***,the frontal brain signals and just the parietal signals are separated from the obtained EEG signal by utilizing a band pass ***,feature extraction is carried out using Fast Fourier Transform(FFT).Subse-quently,the extraction process is done by Daubechies(db4)and Haar wavelet(db1)in MATLAB and classified using the Levenberg-Marquardt *** results of the frequency changes that occurred during various wrist move-ments in the parietal region are compared with the frequency changes that occurred in frontal EEG *** proposed algorithm also uses the deep learn-ing pattern analysis network to evaluate the matching sequence for each action that takes *** accuracy of 97.2%and maximum error range of 0.6684%are achieved during the *** of this research confirm that the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm,along with the newly developed deep learn-ing hybrid PatternNet,provides a more accurate range of frequency changes than any other classifier used in previous works of *** on the analysis,the peak-to-peak value is used to define the threshold for the prototype arm,which performs all the intended degrees of freedom(DOF),verifying

Phytoestrogens and prevention of breast cancer: The contentious debate

Phytoestrogens have multiple actions within target cells, including the epigenome, which could be beneficial to the development and progression of breast cancer. In this brief review the action of phytoestrogens on oestrogen receptors, cell signalling pathways, regulation of the cell cycle, apoptosis, steroid synthesis and epigenetic events in relation to breast cancer are discussed. Phytoestrogens can bind weakly to oestrogen receptors(ERs) and some have a preferential affinity for ERβ which can inhibit the transcriptional growthpromoting activity of ERα. However only saturating doses of phytoestrogens, stimulating both ERα and β, exert growth inhibitory effects. Such effects on growth may be through phytoestrogens inhibiting cell signalling pathways. Phytoestrogens have also been shown to inhibit cyclin D1 expression but increase the expression of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors(p21 and p27) and the tumour suppressor gene p53. Again these effects are only observed at high(> 10) μmol/L doses of phytoestrogens. Finally the effects of phytoestrogens on breast cancer may be mediated by their ability toinhibit local oestrogen synthesis and induce epigenetic changes. There are, though, difficulties in reconciling epidemiological and experimental data due to the fact experimental doses, both in vivo and in vitro, far exceed the circulating concentrations of "free" unbound phytoestrogens measured in women on a high phytoestrogen diet or those taking phytoestrogen supplements.

Microuidic channels play a vital role in separation of analytes of interest such as bacteria and platelet cells,etc.,in various biochemical diagnosis procedures including urinary tract infections(UTI)and bloodstream *** paper presents the multi physics computational model specifically designed to study the effects of design parameters of a microuidics channel for the separation of Escherichia coli(***)from various blood constituents including red blood cells(RBC)and platelets.A standard two inlet and a two outlet microchannel of length 805µm with a channel width of 40µm is *** effect of electrode potentials and the effect of electrode placement along the channel length and also the levitation of electrodes from the channel wall are studied to optimize the selective particle separation *** results show the efcient separation of E-coli with a mean diameter 0.68µm is achieved at low voltages(less than 20 V)when electrodes placed near to the micro channel and also noticed that the applied electric potential is inversely proportional to the number of electrodes placed along the microuidic *** computer aided multi physics simulations with multiple governing parameters could be advantage in design optimization of microuidics channels and support precise bioparticle separation for better diagnosis.
