In this paper, the evaluation of stress intensity factor of plane crack problems for orthotropic plate of equal-parameter is investigated using a fractal two-level finite element method （F2LFEM）. The general solution of an orthotropic crack problem is obtained by assimilating the problem with isotropic crack problem, and is employed as the global interpolation function in F2LFEM. In the neighborhood of crack tip of the crack plate, the fractal geometry concept is introduced to achieve the similar meshes having similarity ratio less than one and generate an infinitesimal mesh so that the relationship between the stiffness matrices of two adjacent layers is equal. A large number of degrees of freedom around the crack tip are transformed to a small set of generalized coordinates. Numerical examples show that this method is efficient and accurate in evaluating the stress intensity factor （SIF）.

Histone methyltransferase enzyme SET7 and mixed-lineage leukemia protein(MLL)complex are crucial co-activators of androgen receptor(AR)and have recently emerged as potential therapeutic targets for advanced castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).In this study,we described the identification of a rhodium-based hybrid complex(SM_1)as a potent blocker of AR activity via simultaneously inhibiting SET7 and MLL complex activity,which makes it a potential lead scaffold for CPRC drug development.

Many cities have pledged to achieve carbon *** urban water industry can also contribute its share to a carbon-neutral *** a multi-city time-series analysis approach,this study aims to assess the progress and lessons learned from the greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions management of urban water systems in four global cities:Amsterdam,Melbourne,New york City,and *** cities are advanced in setting GHG emissions reduction targets and reporting GHG emissions in their water *** four cities have reduced the GHG emissions in their water industries,compared with those from more than a decade ago(i.e.,the latest three-year moving averages are 13%–32%lower),although the emissions have“rebounded”multiple times over the *** emissions reductions were mainly due to various engineering opportunities such as solar and mini-hydro power generation,biogas valorization,sludge digestion and incineration optimization,and aeration system *** cities have recognized the many challenges in reaching carbon-neutrality goals,which include fluctuating water demand and rainfall,more carbon-intensive flood-prevention and water-supply strategies,meeting new air and water quality standards,and revising GHG emissions accounting *** study has also shown that it is difficult for the water industry to achieve carbon neutrality on its own.A collaborative approach with other sectors is needed when aiming toward the city’s carbon-neutrality *** an approach involves expanding the usual system boundary of the water industry to externally tap into both engineering and non-engineering opportunities.

Although the North Atlantic(NA)hurricane season has been reported to start increasingly early,historical longterm changes in NA spring tropical cyclone(TC)activity have not been examined in previous *** find that spring TCs have become more frequent and intense,and they have more closely approached the US coastline over the past four decades,thus increasing the probability of landfall.A long-term increase in the NA sea surface temperature(SST)and northward incursion of warm water may be responsible for the increasing number,intensity,and northward shift of spring *** addition,the interdecadal winter NA SST tripole mode may induce a North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO)-like atmospheric response in the following spring,which controls spring TC tracks via modulating the strength and position of the NA subtropical high(or the Bermuda high).The superposition of the interdecadal positive winter SST tripole on the NA warming trend has contributed to the anomalous enhancement and northward shift of spring TC activity,increasing the spring TC risks in the US in the past six years.

A novel adaptive-impulsive scheme is proposed for synchronizing fractional-order chaotic systems without the necessity of knowing the attractors＇ bounds in priori. The nonlinear functions in these systems are supposed to satisfy local Lipschitz conditions but which are estimated with adaptive laws. The novelty is that the combination of adaptive control and impulsive control offers a control strategy gathering the advantages of both. In order to guarantee the convergence is no less than an expected exponential rate, a combined feedback strength design is created such that the symmetric axis can shift freely according to the updated transient feedback strength. All of the unknown Lipschitz constants are also updated exponentially in the meantime of achieving synchronization. Two different fractional-order chaotic systems are employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the novel adaptive-impulsive control scheme.

In this work, the excess water-stagnation issue in the high current region in direct methanol fuel cells(DMFCs) is resolved by using atomic precision modulated nitrogen-crafted graphene(NG) in the cathode microporous layer by utilizing simplistic,industrial-expansive and ecological strategy. Few-layer 2D-graphene(~2–5 nm thickness) is prepared by bath sonication approach from abundant feedstock-graphite and is treated with nitric acid to yield 1.8 wt.% uniformly dispersed nitrogen containing NG. Specifically, 1:4 weight ratio NG:carbon-black(CB) hybrid architecture, displays 0.252 V in 370 mA cm^(-2) with the peak power density of 93.4 mW cm^(-2), improving cell power density by 45.6% compared with standard one at 60℃ and 1 mol/L methanol/oxygen conditions at ultra-low catalyst loadings and displaying exceptional stability. Atomic insights into NG reveal that interplay between bonding configurations, altered hydrophobic/hydrophilic porosity of graphene(10.6% less wettability from contact angle and 13.1% high electrode porosity measurements) contribute to the better mass-transport-porogenic effect(16.3% high oxygen-permeability), mildly affecting the electron pathway(6.5% reduced in-plane electrical conductivity),overall significantly improving cell performance. Altogether, this work delivers multiple advantages, i.e., the usage of material from facile, sustainable and cost-effective routes, while improving DMFC performance with potential industrial promise.

Graphene oxide(GO)induced enhancement of elastomer properties showed a great deal of potential in recent years,but it is still limited by the barrier of the complicated synthesis ***(SLA),used in fabrication of thermosets and very recently in“flexible”polymers with elastomeric properties,presents itself as simple and user-friendly method for integration of GO into *** this work,it was first time demonstrated that GO loadings can be incorporated into commercial flexible photopolymer resins to successfully fabricate GO/elastomer nanocomposites via readily accessible,consumer-oriented SLA *** material properties of the resulting polymer was characterized and *** mechanical strength,stiffness,and the elongation of the resulting polymer decreased with the addition of *** thermal properties were also adversely affected upon the increase in the GO content based on differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis *** was proposed that the GO agglomerates within the 3D printed composites,can result in significant change in both mechanical and thermal properties of the resulting *** study demonstrated the possibility for the development of the GO/elastomer nanocomposites after the optimization of the GO/“Hexible”photoreactive resin formulation for SLA with suitable annealing process of the composite in future.
