Background: Kangaroo Mother Care is a simple safe method used to care for low-birth-weight babies. Low-birth-weight is a global public health issue that pose significant challenge to perinatal care systems. Globally, complications due to low-birth-weight are the leading cause of neonatal mortality, resulting in an estimated 1 million deaths annually. Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a low-cost method of care for low-birth-weight infants in areas with inadequate incubators and power outages with positive outcomes. Objectives: To assess factors influencing acceptability of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) in NICU at Arthur davison Children’s Hospital in Ndola, Zambia. Methodology: A cross sectional quantitative analytical study design was used. The study was conducted at Arthur davison Children’s Hospital (AdCH) in Ndola, Zambia. The purposive sampling method was used to select the study participants and a total of 129 mothers with Low Weight Babies A were selected to participate structured closed ended questionnaire was used to collect data from the participants using an interview. data was analyzed using a Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) software version 26. Cross tabulations were done to determine association of variables using a Chi square (x2) test at 95% confidence interval and were assumptions where not met, fishers exact test was used. Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis was used to quantify the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Results: Most of the respondents had male babies 77%, 69% of the babies weighed 1000 g - 1400 g, majority 79% had normal delivery, 71% of the respondents were multigravida and most of the respondents 79% were married. The study reviewed that 85% of those who attained secondary education accepted KMC, 74% of the respondents without monthly income accepted KMC, 80% of the respondents had positive attitude and accepted KMC. 82% of the respondents who had positive perception accep

Background There is increasing epidemiological evidence supporting the association between onchocerciasis and seizures, reinforcing the concept of onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy (OAE). The aim of this paper is to provide an update on the new knowledge about OAE and to propose recommendations to the World Health Organization how to address this public health *** text during the 2nd International Workshop on OAE held on 19-21 September, 2023, in Antwerp, Belgium, participants recognised OAE as a substantial yet neglected public health problem, particularly in areas of sub-Saharan Africa where onchocerciasis remains hyperendemic. Evidence from prospective population-based studies suggest that strengthening onchocerciasis elimination efforts leads to a significant reduction of OAE incidence. There is a need to validate an OAE case definition to estimate the burden of disease and identify onchocerciasis-endemic areas requiring intensification of onchocerciasis elimination programmes and integration of epilepsy care. It is expected that raising awareness about OAE will boost the population uptake of ivermectin. The implementation of a community-based epilepsy treatment programme offering free anti-seizure medications (ASMs) has shown high effectiveness in reducing the frequency of seizures and improving the overall quality of life of people with *** To reduce OAE burden, enhanced collaboration between onchocerciasis and mental health programmes at community, national, and international levels is required. Urgent efforts are needed to ensure the uninterrupted provision of free ASMs in onchocerciasis-endemic areas. Furthermore, OAE should be included in the quantification of the onchocerciasis disease burden.

The epi material growth of GaAsSb based dHBTs with InAlAs emitters are investigated using a 4×100mm multi-wafer production Riber 49 MBE reactor fully equipped with real-time in-situ sensors including an absorption band edge spectroscope and an optical-based flux *** state-of-the-art hole mobilities are obtained from 100nm thick carbon-doped GaAsSb.A Sb composition variation of less than ±0.1 atomic percent across a 4×100mm platen configuration has been *** large area InAlAs/GaAsSb/InP dHBT device demonstrates excellent dC characteristics,such as BV_CEO>6V and a dC current gain of 45 at 1kA/cm2 for an emitter size of 50μm×50μ*** devices have a 40nm thick GaAsSb base with p-doping of 4.5×*** with an emitter size of 4μm×30μm have a current gain variation less than 2% across the fully processed 100mm wafer.f_t and f_max are over 50GHz,with a power efficiency of 50%,which are comparable to standard power GaAs HBT *** results demonstrate the potential application of GaAsSb/InP dHBT for power amplifiers and the feasibility of multi-wafer MBE for mass production of GaAsSb-based HBTs.

Mollusca is the second-largest animal phylum with over 100,000 extant species representing eight *** 1000 extant species in the class Polyplacophora,chitons have a relatively constrained morphology but with some notable *** genera possess“shell eyes”,i.e.,true eyes with a lens and retina that are embedded within the dorsal *** phylogeny of the major chiton clades is mostly well established,in a set of superfamily-level and higher level taxa supported by various approaches,including morphological studies,multiple gene markers,mitogenome-phylogeny,and phylotranscriptomic ***,one critical lineage has remained unclear,namely Schizochiton which was controversially suggested as being the potential independent origin of chiton shell ***,with the draft genome sequencing of Schizochiton incisus(superfamily Schizochitonoidea)plus assemblies of transcriptome data from other polyplacophorans,we present phylogenetic reconstructions using both mitochondrial genomes and phylogenomic approaches with multiple *** found that phylogenetic trees from mitogenomic data are inconsistent,reﬂecting larger scale confounding factors in molluscan ***,a consistent and robust topology was generated with protein-coding genes using diﬀerent models and *** results support Schizochitonoidea as the sister group to other Chitonoidea in Chitonina,in agreement with the established classiﬁ*** with evidence from fossils,our phylogenetic results suggest that the earliest origin of shell eyes is in Schizochitonoidea,and that these structures were also gained secondarily in other genera in *** results have generated a holistic review of the internal relationship within Polyplacophora,and a better understanding of the evolution of Polyplacophora.

Objective of this work was to develop a novel method for characterizing real 3d shapes of particles smaller than 20μm by X-ray microtomography(X-RMT).Multidimensional separation of heterogenous solids through agglomeration in suspension will improve recycling processes as the particle shape and the agglomerate size are used for shape-selective *** the present paper we discuss the fundamentals of X-ray tomography and the experimental setup for selective spherical agglomeration in suspension.A specific preparation method of the particulate sample for X-RMT followed by 3d image processing,are essential for the shape analysis expressed as *** also discuss the limitation of this method due to the so-called Partial Volume Effect and particle clusters in the order of magnitude of X-RMT *** proof of concept,we used a mixture of graphite platelets and spheronized graphite particles for a shape selective-agglomeration in *** remaining fines were analyzed and showed more platelets than in the *** indicates that spheronized particles are preferably bound in the *** findings show that,based on the discussed sample preparation and a 3d image analysis in connection with X-RMT,particle shapes of micronized particles can be discriminated.
