the combination of photodynamic therapy（PDt） and chemodynamic therapy（CDt） in tumor treatment has attracted considerable ***,tumor hypoxia and glutathione（GSH） overproduction in the tumor tissue restricted the progress of their ***,a Mn-porphyrinic metal-organic framework（Mn-tCPP） was constructed by the one-pot method and further used for immobilizing glucose oxidase（GOx） to obtain GOx@*** would rapidly exhaust endogenous glucose into hydrogen peroxide（H2O2） and gluconic acid,thus shutt.ng off the energy supply of tumor cells for starvation ***-tCPP catalyzed H2O2to produce oxygen,regulat.ng the hypoxic tumor microenvironment and in turn improving1O2generation under laser ***,Mn-tCPP can reduce reactive oxygen species consumption owing to the redox reaction between Mn3+and GSH,thus greatly enhancing ***,benefit.ng from GOx-mediated starvation therapy,Mn2+produced by Mn3+reduction can react with sufficient intracellular H2O2to generate ·OH with high cytotoxicity through a Fenton-like *** treatment by GOx@Mn-tCPP under laser irradiation in vitro,the cell viability of 4t1 and A549 tumor cells reached to 20%,reflect.ng GOx@Mn-tCPP could give full play to the advantages of PDt/CDt/starvation *** results in vivo demonstrated that GOx@Mn-tCPP mediated synergistic cascade therapy could significantly inhibit tumor growth and improve the therapeutic effect.

this paper uses a finite dominat.ng set （FDS） to investigate the multi-facility ordered median problem （OMP） in a strongly connected directed network. the authors first prove that the multi-facility OMP has an FDS in the node set, which not only generalizes the FDS result provided by Kalcsics, et al. （2002）, but also extends the FDS result from the single-facility Case to the multiple case, filling an important gap. then, based on this FDS result, the authors develop an exact algorithm to solve the problem. However, if the number of facilities is large, it is not practical to find the optimal solution, because the multi-facility OMP in directed networks is NP-hard. Hence, we present a constant-approximation algorithm for the p-median problem in directed networks. Finally, we pose an open problem for future research.

Production of biodiesel from yellow grease(waste cooking oil and waste animal fats) is fast emerging as a promising alternative to address the twin challenges before the biodiesel industry today-fluctuation in prices of vegetable oil and the food versus fuel debate. Yellow grease has a high percentage of free fatty acids(FFA) and proves to be an unsuitable feedstock for biodiesel production from commercially viable alkalicatalyzed production systems due to saponification problems.'Green' methodologies based on heterogeneous solid acid catalyzed reactions have the potential to simultaneously promote esterification and transesterification reactions of yellow grease to produce biodiesel without soap formation and offer easy catalyst separation without generation of toxic streams. this paper presents kinetic studies for the conversion of model yellow grease feeds to biodiesel using a heteropolyacid supported on alumina(HSiW/Al2O3) using a batch autoclave. three model yellow grease feeds were prepared using canola oil with added FFA such as palmitic, oleic and linoleic acid. A pseudo homogeneous kinetic model for the parallel esterification and transesterification was developed. the rate constants and activation parameters for esterification and transesterification reactions for the model yellow grease feeds were determined. the rate constants for esterification are higher than the transesterification rate constants. the kinetic model was validated using the experimental biodiesel data obtained from processing a commercial yellow grease feed. the kinetic model could be used to design novel processes to convert various low-value waste oils, fats and non-food grade oils to sustainable biodiesel.

the challenges in the chemical processing industry today are environmental concerns, energy and capital costs. Catalytic distillation(CD) is a green reactor technology which combines a catalytic reaction and separation via distillation in the same distillation column. Utilization of CD in chemical process development could result in capital and energy savings, and the reduction of greenhouse gases. the efficacy of CD and the economic merits, in terms of energy and equipment savings, brought by CD for the production of biodiesel from waste oil such as yellow grease is quantified. Process flow sheets for industrial routes for an annual production of 10 million gallon AStM purity biodiesel in a conventional process(reactor followed by distillation) and CD configurations are modeled in Aspen Plus. Material and energy flows, as well as sized unit operation blocks, are used to conduct an economic assessment of each process. total capital investment, total operat.ng and utility costs are calculated for each process. the waste oil feedstock is yellow grease containing both triglyceride and free fatty acid. Both transesterification and esterification reactions are considered in the process simulations. Results show a significant advantage of CD compared to a conventional biodiesel processes due to the reduction of distillation columns, waste streams and greenhouse gas emissions. the significant savings in capital and energy costs together with the reduction of greenhouse gases demonstrate that process intensification via CD is a feasible and new green process for the biodiesel production from waste oils.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi *** study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of tNM staging,Alfa-fetoprotein(AFP),and Child-turcotte Pugh(CtP)on patients’overall survival(OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to *** patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria:(a)a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or(b)a biopsy-confirmed ***:the mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:*** patients were stratified into two groups:viral HCC(n=22,51%)and non-viral HCC(n=21,49%).Among viral-HCC patients,55%were due to HBV and 45%due to *** was diagnosed in 79%of *** and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value>0.05).About 65%of patients had tumor size>5 cm during the diagnosis,with a significant statistical difference in OS(p-value=0.027).AFP was>400 ng/ml in 45%of the *** was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels(p-value=0.021).A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CtP score and OS(p-value=0.02).CtP class B had the longest *** was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib *** was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value=0.008).Conclusions:the most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of HCC,AFP,and tumor *** having non-viral etiology,a tumor size>5 cm,an AFP>400 ng/mL,and a CtP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.

Hydrotherapy (exercise in warm water) is considered to be a safe and beneficial method to use in the rehabilitation of stable heart failure patients, but there is little information on the effect of the increased venous return and enhanced preload in elderly patientswith biventricular heart failure. We present a case of an elderly man whowas recruited to participate in a hydrotherapy study. We compared echocardiographic data duringwarm water immersion with land measurements, and observed increases in stroke volume from 32 mL (land) to 42 mL (water), left ventricular ejection fraction from 22% to 24%, left ventricular systolic velocity from 4.8 cm/s to 5.0 cm/s and left atrioventricular plane displacement from 2.1 mm to 2.2 mm. By contrast, right ventricular systolic velocity decreased from 11.2 cm/s to 8.4 cm/s and right atrioventricular plane displacement from 8.1 mm to 4.7 mm. the tricuspid pressure gradient rose from 18 mmHg on land to 50mmHg during warm water immersion. thus, although left ventricular systolic function was relatively unaffected during warm water immersion, we observed a decrease in right ventricular function with an augmented right ventricular pressure. We recommend further investigations to observe the cardiac effect of warm water immersion on patients with biventricular systolic heart failure and at risk of elevated right ventricular pressure.

threatened miscarriage is the commonest complication of early pregnancy and affects about 20% of pregnancies. It presents with vaginal bleeding with or without abdominal cramps. Increasing age of women, smoking, obesity or polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) and a previous history of miscarriage are risk factors for threatened miscarriage. the pathophysiology has been associated with changes in levels of cytokines or maternal immune dysfunction. Clinical history and examination, maternal serum biochemistry and ultrasound findings are important to determine the treatment options and provide valuable information for the prognosis. Bed rest is the commonest advice, but there is little evidence of its value. Other options include progesterone, human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG) and muscle relaxants. the complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) therapies such as acupuncture and Chinese herbs have also been tried. there is some evidence from clinical studies indicat.ng that CAM therapies may reduce the rate of miscarriage, but the quality of studies is poor. thus, further double-blind,randomized-controlled trials are necessary to confirm its effectiveness, especially acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

Alert.ng drivers about incoming emergency vehicles and their routes can greatly improve their travel time in congested cities, while reducing the risk of accidents due to distractions. this paper contributes to this goal by proposing Messiah, an Android application capable of informing regular vehicles about incoming emergency vehicles like ambulances, police cars and fire brigades. this is made possible by creat.ng a network of vehicles capable of directly communicat.ng between them. the user can, therefore, take driving decisions in a timely manner by considering incoming alerts. Using the support of our GRCBox hardware, the application can rely on vehicular ad-hoc network communications in the 5 GHz band, being V2V （vehicle-to-vehicle） communication provided through a combination of Android-based smartphone and our GRCBox device. the application was tested in three different scenarios with different levels of obstruction, showing that it is capable of providing alerts up to 300 meters, and notifying vehicles within less than one second.
