The recurrence of hepatitis C after a liver transplant remains an important cause of graft loss and retransplant. Antiviral therapy with peginterferon plus ribavirin (PEG-INF/RBV) can achieve a sustained viral response and histological improvement in a high percentage of cases. However, this treatment is not exempt from important side effects or from the possibility of precipitating rejection, with the resulting graft loss. We report the case of a liver transplant patient who received treatment with PEG-INF/RBV and developed plasma cell hepatitis as the presenting form of rejection.

Among tephritid fruit flies,hybridization has been found to produce local adaptation and speciation,and in the case of pest species,induce behavioral and ecological alterations that can adversely impact efficient pest *** species group within Anastrepha (Diptera:Tephritidae),is a rapidly radiating aggregate,which includes cryptic species complexes,numerous sister species,and several pest species. Molecular studies have highlighted the possibility of introgression between *** and *** isolation has been studied among morphotypes of the A. fraterculus species complex as a tool for species *** we examined the exis- tence and strength of prezygotic and postzygotic isolation between sympatric populations of two closely related species within the highly derivedfraterculus group (*** and ***),coexisting in *** adults of both species showed a strong tendency for assortative mating,a small proportion of hybrid pairings in both directions were *** also observed asymmetric postzygotic isolation,with one hybrid cross displaying a strong reduction in fecundity and F1 egg *** was greater for the progeny of homotypic and hybrid crosses in the maternal *** was a marked female biased sex ratio distortion for both F1 hybrid *** between *** and *** in nature may be difficult but possible;these two species display stronger reproductive isolation than all pairs of species previously examined in the *** species *** postzygotie isolation is suggestive of Wolbachia mediated cytoplasmic incompatibilities that may be exploited in area-wide pest management.

Deep learning algorithms increasingly support automated systems in areas such as human activity recognition and purchase *** identify a current trend in which data is transformed first into abstract visualizations and then processed by a computer vision deep learning *** call this Visualization As Intermediate Representation(VlAIR)and believe that it can be instrumental to support accurate recognition in a number of fields while also enhancing humans’ability to interpret deep learning models for debugging purposes or for personal *** this paper we describe the potential advantages of this approach and explore various visualization mappings and deep learning *** evaluate several VlAIR alternatives for a specific problem(human activity recognition in an apartment)and show that VlAIR attains classification accuracy above classical machine learning algorithms and several other non-image-based deep learning algorithms with several data representations.

The author of the Taylor Rule has provided new evidence about the application of the Sandpile model to his rule. The same findings of the Sandpile model are described in the Taylor paper in agreement with the conclusions of the Sandpile model. That is, that keeping interest rates too low for too long penalizes the economic recovery. On top of that the Sandpile also provides a metric for the severity of the crisis. The same law (Power law) applies to the size and the duration of the crisis just modifying the order of the distribution paving thus a way for measuring the size of the crisis. According to the NBER data, the length is already determined for the US crisis, if the model holds on, we can also assess the severity.

Sandpile phenomena in dynamic systems in the vicinity of criticality always appeal to a sudden break of stability with avalanches of different sizes due to minor perturbations. We can view the intervention of the Central Banks on the rate of interest as a perturbation of the economic system. It is an induced perturbation to a system that fare in vicinity of criticality according to the conditions of stability embedded in the equations of the neoclassical model. An alternative reading of the Taylor Rule is proposed in combination with the Sandpile paradigm to give an account of the economic crisis as an event like an avalanche, that can be triggered by a perturbation, as is the intervention of the Central Bank on the interest rate.

AIM To assess the viability of orthotopic and heterotopic patient-derived pancreatic cancer xenografts implanted into nude *** This study presents a prospective experimental analytical follow-up of the development of tumours in mice upon implantation of human pancreatic adenocarcinoma samples. Specimens were obtained surgically from patients with a pathological diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Tumour samples from pancreatic cancer patients were transplanted into nude mice in three different locations(intraperitoneal, subcutaneous and pancreatic). Histological analysis(haematoxylin-eosin and Masson's trichrome staining) and immunohistochemical assessment of apoptosis(TUNEl), proliferation(Ki-67), angiogenesis(CD31) and fibrogenesis(α-SMA) were performed. When a tumour xenograft reached the target size, it was reimplanted in a new nude mouse. Three sequential tumour xenograft generations were generated(F1, F2 and F3).RESUlTS The overall tumour engraftment rate was 61.1%. The subcutaneous model was most effective in terms of tissue growth(69.9%), followed by intraperitoneal(57.6%) and pancreatic(55%) models. Tumour development was faster in the subcutaneous model(17.7 ± 2.6 wk) compared with the pancreatic(23.1 ± 2.3 wk) and intraperitoneal(25.0 ± 2.7 wk) models(P = 0.064). There was a progressive increase in the tumour engraftment rate over successive generations for all three models(F1 28.1% vs F2 71.4% vs F3 80.9%, P ll proliferation between human samples and the three experimental models among the sequential generations of tumour xenografts. However, a progressive decrease in fibrosis, fibrogenesis, tumour vascularisation and apoptosis was observed in the three experimental models compared with the human samples. Parametric software effort estimation models usually consists of only a single mathematical relationship. With the advent of software repositories containing data from heterogeneous projects, these types of models suffer from poor adjustment and predictive accuracy. One possible way to alleviate this problem is the use of a set of mathematical equations obtained through dividing of the historical project datasets according to different parameters into subdatasets called partitions. In turn, partitions are divided into clusters that serve as a tool for more accurate models. In this paper, we describe the process, tool and results of such approach through a case study using a publicly available repository, ISBSG. Results suggest the adequacy of the technique as an extension of existing single-expression models without making the estimation process much more complex that uses a single estimation model.
