Technological improvements are crucial in the evolution of ***-time fluorescence-guided surgery(FGS)has spread worldwide,mainly because of its usefulness during the intraoperative decision-making *** success of any gastrointestinal oncologic resection is based on the anatomical identification of the primary tumor and its regional lymph *** allows also to evaluate the blood perfusion at the gastrointestinal stumps after colorectal or esophageal ***,a reduction on the anastomotic leak rates has been postulated as one of the foreseeable benefits provided by the use of FGS in these *** the use of fluorescence in lymph node detection was initially described in breast cancer surgery,the technique is currently applied in gastric or splenic flexure cancers,as they both present complex and variable lymphatic *** allows also to perform intraoperative lymphograms or sentinel lymph node *** applications of FGS are being developed to assist in the detection of peritoneal metastases or in the evaluation of the tumor resection *** present review aims to provide a general overview of the current status of real-time FGS in gastrointestinal oncologic *** put a special focus on the different applications of FGS,discussing the main findings and limitations found in the contemporary literature and also the promising near future applications.

Tree height (H) in a natural stand or forest plantation is a fundamental variable in management, and the use of mathematical expressions that estimate H as a function of diameter at breast height (d) or variables at the stand level is a valuable support tool in forest inventories. The objective was to fit and propose a generalized H-d model for Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus established in forest plantations of Nuevo San juan Parangaricutiro, Michoacan, Mexico. Using nonlinear least squares (NlS), 10 generalized H-d models were fitted to 883 and 1226 pairs of H-d data from Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The best model was refitted with the maximum likelihood mixed effects model (MEM) approach by including the site as a classification variable and a known variance structure. The Wang and Tang equation was selected as the best model with NlS;the MEM with an additive effect on two of its parameters and an exponential variance function improved the fit statistics for Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The model validation showed equality of means among the estimates for both species and an independent subsample. The calibration of the MEM at the plot level was efficient and might increase the applicability of these results. The inclusion of dominant height in the MEM approach helped to reduce bias in the estimates and also to better explain the variability among plots.

Blood transfusion for the treatment of acute anaemia in inflammatory bowel disease and other digestive diseases

Allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT) is frequently used as the first therapeutic option for the treatment of acute anaemia in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), especially when it developed due to gastrointestinal or perioperative blood loss, but is not risk-free. Adverse effects of ABT include, but are not limited to, acute hemolytic reaction (wrong blood or wrong patient), febrile non-hemolytic transfusional reaction, bacterial contamination, transfusion-related acute lung injury, transfusion associated circulatory overload, transfusion-related immuno-modulation, and transmission of almost all infectious diseases (bacteria, virus, protozoa and prion), which might result in increased risk of morbidity and mortality. Unfortunately, the main physiological goal of ABT, i.e. to increase oxygen consumption by the hypoxic tissues, has not been well documented. In contrast, the ABT is usually misused only to increase the haemoglobin level within a f ixed protocol [mostly two by two packed red blood cell (PRC) units] independently of the patient' s tolerance to normovolemic anaemia or his clinical response to the transfusion of PRC units according to a "one-by-one" administration schedule. Evidencebased clinical guidelines may promote best transfusion practices by implementing restrictive transfusion protocols, thus reducing variability and minimizing the avoidable risks of transfusion, and the use of autologous blood and pharmacologic alternatives. In this regard, preoperative autologous blood donation (PABD) consistently diminished the frequency of ABT, although its contribution to ABT avoidance is reduced when performed under a transfusion protocol. In addition, interpretation of utility of PABD in surgical IBD patients is hampered by scarcity of published data. However, the role of autologous red blood cells as drug carriers is promising. Identification of SUMO Targets by a Novel Proteomic Approach in Plants

Post-translational modifications （PTMs） chemically and physically alter the properties of proteins, including their folding, subcellular localization, stability, activity, and consequently their function. In spite of their relevance, studies on PTMs in plants are still limited. Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier （SUMO） modification regulates several biological processes by affecting protein-protein interactions, or changing the subcellular Iocalizations of the target proteins. Here, we describe a novel proteomic approach to identify SUMO targets that combines 2-D liquid chromatography, immunodetection, and mass spectrometry （MS） analyses. We have applied this approach to identify nuclear SUMO targets in response to heat shock. Using a bacterial SUMOylation system, we validated that some of the targets identified here are, in fact, labeled with SUMO1. Interestingly, we found that GIGANTEA （GI）, a photoperiodic-pathway protein, is modified with SUMO in response to heat shock both in vitro and in vivo.

Software Project Management Approaches for Global Software Development： A Systematic Mapping Study

Global Software Development （GSD） is a well established field of software engineering with the benefits of a global environment. Software Project Management （SPM） plays a key role in the success of GSD. As a result, the need has arisen to study and evaluate the downsides of SPM for GSD, to thereby pave the way for the development of new methods, techniques, and tools with which to tackle them. This paper aims to identify and classify research on SPM approaches for GSD that are available in the literature, to identify their current weaknesses and strengths, and to analyze their applications in industry. We performed a Systematic Mapping Study （SMS） based on six classification criteria. Eighty-four papers were selected and analyzed. The results indicate that interest in SPM for GSD has been increasing since 2006. As a class of approaches, the most frequently reported methods （40%） are those used for coordination, planning, and monitoring, along with estimation techniques that can be used to better match a distributed project. SPM for GSD requires further investigation by researchers and practitioners, particularly with respect to cost and time estimations. These findings will help overcome the challenges that must to be considered in future SPM research for GSD, especially regarding collaboration and time-zone differences.

Study of reverse osmosis membranes fouling by inorganic salts and colloidal particles during seawater desalination

Fouling phenomenon is considered among the major reasons that cause significant increase of operating cost of desalination plants equipped with reverse osmosis(RO)*** phenomenon is studied in the present work in the case of RO polyamide aromatic membranes using model seawater containing inorganic salts and colloidal *** solubility conditions of CaCO3 and CaSO4 were applied to study RO performances with and without colloid *** experiments,the membrane permeate fluxes were continuously ***,studies of chemical composition,structure,and morphology of the materials deposited on the membrane surface were conducted using energy dispersive microanalysis(EDS)X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscopy(SEM).Results show that in conditions of calcium carbonate oversaturation there is a reduction in the permeate flow of 11.2%due to fouling of the membrane by the precipitation of this *** in the same conditions of calcium sulphate oversaturation the reduction of the flow is 5%,so we can conclude that in conditions of oversaturation of both salts,calcium carbonate produces a greater fouling of the membrane that in its view causes greater decrease in the flow of *** this based on the results of the test with both salts in oversaturated *** in the formation of calcite and gypsum crystals onto the membranes as XRD analyses *** presence of colloidal silica in those conditions intensifies strongly the fouling,leading until to 24.1%of permeate flux decrease.

Hepatopulmonary syndrome: What we know and what we would like to know

Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is characterized by abnormalities in blood oxygenation caused by the presence of intrapulmonary vascular dilations (IPVD) in the context of liver disease, generally at a cirrhotic stage. Knowledge about the subject is still only partial. The majority of the information about the etiopathogenesis of HPS has been obtained through experiments on animals. Reported prevalence in patients who are candidates for a liver transplantation (lT) varies between 4% and 32%, with a predominance of mild or moderate cases. Although it is generally asymptomatic it does have an impact on their quality of life and survival. The diagnosis requires taking an arterial blood gas sample of a seated patient with alveolar-arterial oxygen gradient (AaO2) ≥ 15 mm Hg, or ≥ 20 mm Hg in those over 64 years of age. The IPVD are identified through a transthoracic contrast echocardiography or a macroaggregated albumin lung perfusion scan (99mTc-MAA). There is currently no effective medical treatment. lT has been shown to reverse the syndrome and improve survival rates, even in severe cases. Therefore the policy of prioritizing lT would appear to increase survival rates. This paper takes a critical and clinical look at the current understanding of HPS, as well as the controversies surrounding it and possible future research.

Oxidative effects of glyphosate on the lipophobic intracellular environment in the microalgae Chlorella vulgaris

The studied hypothesis is that the herbicide glyphosate(GlY)can affect the oxidative balance in the hydrophobic intracellular medium in non-target Chlorella vulgaris *** GlY and RoundUp(RUP)supplementation,affected the growth profile.A significant 42%decrease in the cellular biomass in stationary(St)phase was observed in cultures supplemented with either 5μM of GlY or RUP,as compared to control *** treatment with 0.3μM of GlY generated non-significant effects on the oxidation rate of 2’,7’dichlorofluorescein diacetate(DCFH-DA),neither in exponential(Exp)nor in St phase of development,as compared to control ***,the treatment with either 5μM GlY or 0.3 and 5μM RUP lead to a significant decrease in the DCFH-DA oxidation rate,as compared to control *** lipid radical(lR●)generation rate,detected by Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy(EPR),was significantly increased in the presence of RUP,in lag and Exp phase of *** non-enzymatic antioxidants,α-Tocopherol(α-T)andβ-Carotene(β-C),are aimed to protect membranes against the damage produced by the radical *** content ofβ-C was not significantly affected,as compared to control cultures,by any of the treatments,in both growth phases of cellular *** content ofα-T was significantly decreased by the supplementation with either 0.3 or 5μM of RUP or 5μM *** lR●/α-T ratio,used as indicator of the oxidative balance in the hydrophobic cellular media,was significantly different between samples obtained from control and RUP-exposed microalgae in both,Exp and St phase of development,with either 0.3 or 5μM *** data presented here showed evidence that suggested that oxidative balance in the hydrophobic environment was affected by either GlY or RUP.
