i.troducti.n: Heterogenous sexual i.tercourse often produces a powerful orgasm that sti.ulates the pi.ui.ary functi.n. Studi.s have suggested ejaculati.n frequency based on age. Materi.ls and Methods: Semi.structured questi.nnai.es were used to collect i.formati.n from subjects. Semen samples were collected from sperm donors and sub-ferti.e men who presented for i.ferti.i.y challenges. Processi.g and analysi. of semen samples were done accordi.g to World Health Organi.ati.n (WHO) gui.eli.es. Sperm deoxyri.onuclei. aci. (DNA) fragmentati.n was evaluated usi.g the Halosperm ki.. Results: Among sperm donors, those aged χ2 = 0.09, P-value = 0.81, OR = 3.2, 95% Ci. 0.23, 45.19) whi.e among sub-ferti.e men those aged ≥40 years were approxi.ately 2.3 ti.es more li.ely to have very low frequency of MESi.compared to aged χ2 = 2.11, P-value = 0.51, OR = 2.27, 95% Ci. 0.74, 9.92). The frequency of all categori.s of MESi.was hi.hest among sub-ferti.e men aged χ2 = 0.03, P-value = 0.57, OR = 2.42, 95% Ci. 0.41, 14.46). Sub-ferti.e men aged ≥40 wi.h di.stoli. hypertensi.n (≥90 mmHg) were approxi.ately 6 ti.es more li.ely to have a low (6 - 10) frequency of MESi.compared to those aged χ2 = 1.97, P-value = 0.16, OR = 6.22, 95% Ci. 0.69, 55.77). Overall mean ferti.i.ati.n rate was si.ni.i.antly hi.her (t-test = 2.44, P-value = 0.01) among sub-ferti.e men aged Conclusi.n: Ci.arette smoki.g, more than alcohol consumpti.n, appears to be a major factor that si.ni.i.antly affects the frequency of MESi.among sub-ferti.e men i. all age groups. Frequency of MESi.negati.ely but i.si.ni.i.antly correlated wi.h systoli. blood pressure.

i.troducti.n: i. humans, the i.eal ejaculati.n frequency depends on age, exerci.e and sexual potenti.l. Natural ejaculati.n frequency balances the testosterone levels i. the body. Materi.ls and Methods: Semi.structured questi.nnai.e was used to collect i.formati.n from subjects. Semen samples were collected from sperm donors and sub-ferti.e men who presented for i.ferti.i.y challenges. Processi.g and analysi. of semen samples were done accordi.g to World Health Organi.ati.n gui.eli.es. Sperm DNA fragmentati.n was evaluated usi.g the Halosperm®?ki.. Results: A total of 114 subjects, i.cludi.g 19 sperm donors and 95 sub-ferti.e males were studi.d. There was a si.ni.i.ant di.ference (t =?−5.96, P-value = 0.00001) i. the mean [±sd] age of sperm donors (30.8 [8.1]) and that of sub-ferti.e men (42.3 [76]). There was a si.ni.i.ant di.ference (t=?−4.10, P-value = 0.0005) i. the mean monthly ejaculati.n duri.g sexual i.tercourse (MESi. among sperm donors wi.h DNA fragmentati.n i.dex −2.20, P-value = 0.02) i. MESi.among sub-ferti.e men aged ≥40 years (8.9 [4.6]) than among those aged −0.67, SE = 0.28, t = −2.40, P-value = 0.02, 95% Ci. −1.24,?−0.10). Conclusi.n: i. men i.di. not worsen the DFi. A hi.her number of professi.nals such as doctors, lawyers and engi.eers, reported lower monthly frequency of sexual ejaculati.ns compared to entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs and non-smokers had the hi.hest frequenci.s of MESi.

Background: Male i.ferti.i.y i. approachi.g an epi.emi. proporti.n. Almost 50% of all cases of i.ferti.i.y may be associ.ted wi.h a male factor. The di.gnosti. usefulness of sperm DNA i.tegri.y i. now accessi.le as an addi.i.nal tool to Semi.al Flui. Analysi.. Objecti.e: To assess sperm DNA fragmentati.n i.dex (SDFi. i. male i.ferti.i.y and i.s relati.nshi. wi.h obesi.y, alcohol consumpti.n and ci.arette smoki.g among i.ferti.e Ni.eri.ns. Pati.nts and Methods: Pati.nts who presented for i.ferti.i.y at three health faci.i.i.s of Nordi.a Ferti.i.y Center i. Lagos, Asaba and Abuja ci.i.s i. Ni.eri.. STATA 13 was used for student’s t-test to compare the means of conti.uous vari.bles among smokers and non-smokers and among alcohol consumers and non-consumers. Li.ear regressi.n analysi. was employed to assess the correlati.n between SDFi.as dependent vari.ble and some i.dependent vari.bles. Results: There was no si.ni.i.ant di.ference i. the SDFi.of men aged −1.80, P-value = 0.04) than that of obese men (30.2%). Obese men were 2.12 ti.es as li.ely to have SDFi.≥25% compared to normal wei.ht men (χ2-2.16, P-value = 0.14, OR = 2.12, 95% Ci. 0.77, 5.80). Mean SDFi.of men who consume alcohol (37.1%) was si.ni.i.antly hi.her (t = −1.97, P-value = 0.03) than that of those who di. not consume alcohol. Although Pearson’s correlati.n matri. (r) i.di.ated that sperm DNA fragmentati.n i.dex was posi.i.ely correlated wi.h hi.tory of i.ferti.i.y (r = 0.01), groi. surgery (r = 0.04), mumps (r = 0.04) and sexually transmi.ted i.lness (r = 0.04), however the degree of correlati.n was not si.ni.i.ant (P-value ≥ 0.5) i. each case. Conclusi.n: Thi. i. the fi.st report i. Black Afri.a that descri.es a correlati.n between sperm DNA i.tegri.y, as measured by the halo test and age, BMi.and alcohol consumpti.n. i.troducti.n: Pyospermi. i. often detected i. semen, especi.lly when i.vesti.ati.g for male i.ferti.i.y. Pyospermi., i. a si.ni.i.antly large number i. often correlated wi.h i.feri.r sperm parameters and reduced ferti.i.y. Pyospermi. may be a factor of a fundamental geni.ouri.ary i.fecti.n. Thi. study assessed the relati.nshi. between pus cells and semen parameters i. i.ferti.e Ni.eri.n males. Subjects and Methods: A cross-secti.nal descri.ti.e study was carri.d out at Nordi.a Ferti.i.y Center, Lagos, Ni.eri., from 2004 to 2009. A total of 907 subjects were analyzed. Subjects ages (years) were categori.ed i.to ≤30, 30.1 - 35, 35.1 - 40, 40.1 - 45, 45.1 - 50 and >50, BMi.i.to Results: Leucocytopeni. of ≥3 per hi.h power fi.ld (/hpf) occurred i. 67 (7.4%) men. The overall means (±sd) of pus cells was 1.4 (0.9), 1.4 (0.7), 1.4 (0.7) and 1.6 (1.6) per hi.h power fi.ld i. all, normospermi., oli.oospermi. and azoospermi. clusters of pati.nts respecti.ely. Mean (±sd) pus cells i. semen was 6.0 (4.0), the hi.hest, among obese (BMi.≥ 30) azoospermi. pati.nts. The proporti.n of subjects wi.h pyospermi. of 1 - 2 was hi.hest (323/346, 93.3%) among oli.oospermi. pati.nts whi.e that wi.h pyospermi. of ≥3 was hi.hest (10/109, 9.2%) among azoospermi. pati.nts. Obese azoospermi. pati.nts were 1.8 ti.es as li.ely to have ≥3/hpf pyospermi. compared to normal normospermi. pati.nts (x2 = 0.05, P-value = 0.51, OR = 1.82, 95% Ci. 0.30, 11.02). Mean progressi.e moti.i.y (%) was si.ni.i.antly reduced (t = 1.95, P-value = 0.03) among pati.nts wi.h ≥3/hpf pyospermi. (33.75 ± 19.23) compared to those wi.h 1 - 2/hpf pyospermi. (38.58 ± 21.63). Pati.nts wi.h sperm oval head ≤ 30% had si.ni.i.antly hi.her pyospermi. (t = 2.22, P-value = 0.013) than those wi.h sperm oval head of >30%. Conclusi.n: Elevated pus cell counts were observed among obese azoospermi. men, those wi.h reduced sperm progressi.e moti.i.y and those wi.h lower count of sperms wi.h oval head morphology.
