The dentate gyrus subregion of the mammalian hippocampus is an adult neural stem cell niche and site of lifelong *** regarding the role of adult-born neuron synaptic integration in hippocampal circuit function are framed by robust estimations of adultborn versus pre/perinatally-born neuron *** contrast,the non-neurogenic functions of adult neural stem cells and their immediate progeny,such as secretion of bioactive growth factors and expression of extracellular matrix-modifying proteins,lack similar framing due to few estimates of their number versus other prominent secretory ***,we apply immunohistochemical methods to estimate cell density of neural stem/progenitor cells versus other major classes of glial and endothelial cell types that are potentially secretory in the dentate gyrus of adult *** the cell types quantified,we found that GFAP^(+)SOX2^(+)stellate astrocytes were the most numerous,followed by CD31^(+)endothelia,GFAP-SOX2^(+)intermediate progenitors,Olig2^(+)oligodendrocytes,Iba1+microglia,and GFAP^(+)SOX2^(+)radial glia-like neural stem *** did not observe any significant sex differences in density of any cell ***,neural stem/progenitor cells were present at a similar density as several cell types known to have potent functional roles via their *** findings may be useful for refining hypotheses regarding the contributions of these cell types to regulating hippocampal function and their potential therapeutic *** experimental protocols were approved by the Ohio State University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee(protocol#2016A00000068)on July 14,2016.

Spectrum management and resource allocation(RA)problems are challenging and critical in a vast number of research areas such as wireless communications and computer *** traditional approaches for solving such problems usually consume time and memory,especially for large-size *** different machine learning approaches have been considered as potential promising techniques for combinatorial optimization problems,especially the generative model of the deep neural *** this work,we propose a resource allocation deep autoencoder network,as one of the promising generative models,for enabling spectrum sharing in underlay device-to-device(D2D)communication by solving linear sum assignment problems(LSAPs).Specifically,we investigate the performance of three different architectures for the conditional variational autoencoders(CVAE).The three proposed architecture are the convolutional neural network(CVAECNN)autoencoder,the feed-forward neural network(CVAE-FNN)autoencoder,and the hybrid(H-CVAE)*** simulation results show that the proposed approach could be used as a replacement of the conventional RA techniques,such as the Hungarian algorithm,due to its ability to find solutions of LASPs of different sizes with high accuracy and very fast execution ***,the simulation results reveal that the accuracy of the proposed hybrid autoencoder architecture outperforms the other proposed architectures and the state-of-the-art DNN techniques.

The rapid appraisal method was used to identity the botanicals used ethnomedicinally from a total of 300 randomly selected respondents drawn from the existing three geo-political zones of Ekiti State, Nigeria. The results obtained revealed that about 40% of the 71 botanicals identified presently rare. most of the presently abundant botanicals are species primarily cultivated for other purpose other than medicine. most of the identified species are valued for their curative effects on malaria and fever, the predominant diseases in the study area. The need for the conservation of the rare species cannot be over emphasised as most rural dwellers in the study area depend mostly on herbs from these species. Strategies towards the attainment of this goal are proposed.

Thermal processes on the Tibetan Plateau(TP)influence atmospheric conditions on regional and global *** this,previous work has shown that soil moisture−driven surface flux variations feed back onto the *** soil moisture is a source of atmospheric predictability,no study has evaluated soil moisture−atmosphere coupling on the TP in general circulation models(GCms).In this study,we use several analysis techniques to assess soil moisture−atmosphere coupling in CmIP6 simulations including:instantaneous coupling indices;analysis of flux and atmospheric behaviour during dry spells;and a quantification of the preference for convection over drier *** these metrics we partition feedbacks into their atmospheric and terrestrial *** with previous global studies,we conclude substantial inter-model differences in the representation of soil moisture−atmosphere coupling,and that most models underestimate such *** on dry spell analysis,most models underestimate increased sensible heat during periods of rainfall *** example,the model-mean bias in anomalous sensible heat flux is 10 W m−2(≈25%)smaller compared to *** dry-spell sensible heat fluxes lead to a weaker atmospheric *** also find that most GCms fail to capture the negative feedback between soil moisture and deep *** poor simulation of feedbacks in CmIP6 experiments suggests that forecast models also struggle to exploit soil moisture−driven *** improve the representation of land−atmosphere feedbacks requires developments in not only atmospheric modelling,but also surface processes,as we find weak relationships between rainfall biases and coupling indexes.

The glenohumeral joint(GHJ)allows for a wide range of motion,but is also particularly vulnerable to episodes of *** GHJ instability is especially frequent among young,athletic populations during contact sporting *** first time dislocators can be managed non-operatively with a period of immobilization and rehabilitation,however certain patient populations are at higher risk for recurrent instability and may require surgical intervention for adequate *** of the optimal treatment strategy should be made on a case-by-case basis while weighing both patient specific factors and injury patterns(i.e.,bone loss).The purpose of this review is to describe the relevant anatomical stabilizers of the GHJ,risk factors for recurrent instability including bony lesions,indications for arthroscopic vs open surgical management,clinical history and physical examination techniques,imaging modalities,and pearls/pitfalls of arthroscopic soft-tissue stabilization for anterior glenohumeral instability.

The Scaptodrosophila genus represents a large group of drosophilids with a worldwide distribution and a predominance of species in Australia,but there is little information on the presence and impacts of Wolbachia endosymbionts in this *** we describe the first Wolbachia infection from this group,wClay isolated from Scaptodrosophila claytoni(van Klinken),a species from the east coast of *** infection is polymorphic in natural populations,occurring at a frequency of around 6%–10%.wClay causes male killing,producing female-biased lines;most lines showed 100%male killing,though in 1 line it wasmaintained through the introduction of males unless the infection is removed by tetracycline *** is transmitted at a high fidelity(98.6%)through the maternal lineage and has been stable in 2 laboratory lines across 24 generations,suggesting it is likely to persist in *** infection has not been previously described but is closely related to the male-killing Wolbachia recently described from Drosophila pandora based on multilocus sequence typing and the wsp ***-killing Wolbachia are likely to be common in drosophilids but remain difficult to detect because the infections can often be at a low frequency.

This paper describes the preliminary study results of developing a hypervelocity terminal intercept guidance system of a multiple kinetic-energy impactor vehicle(mKIV).The proposed mKIV system is intended to fragment or pulverize an asteroid of smaller than approximately 150 m in diameter that is detected with a mission lead time of shorter than 10 years,without using nuclear explosive *** paper focuses on the development of a new image processing algorithm based on Otsu’s method for the coordinated terminal intercept guidance and control of multiple kinetic-energy impactors employing visual and/or infrared sensors.A scaled polyhedron shape model of asteroid(216)Kleopatra is used as a fictional target ***-based simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of impacting a small irregular-shaped asteroid by using the proposed new image processing algorithm and a classical pulsed TPN(true proportional navigation)terminal guidance law.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is often diagnosed during the peak reprodu-ctive years of young *** with active IBD around conception are at a significantly increased risk of disease relapse during pregnancy,which is associated with poor pregnancy and neonatal *** these substantial risks,it is prudent that disease remission should ideally be achieved before ***,some patients may experience a disease flare-up even if they are in a state of remission before *** must continue their IBD medications to reduce the risk of disease flare and subsequent poor outcomes during the gestational and postpartum *** treating IBD flare-ups during pregnancy,the management is quite similar to the therapeutic approach for non-pregnant patients with IBD,including 5-aminosalicylate,steroids,calcineurin inhibitors(CNIs),and biologic *** the data regarding the safety of CNIs in pregnant women with IBD is limited,the findings in our recent meta-analysis suggest that CNIs may be safer to use in those with IBD than in solid organ transplant *** are several types of biologics and small-molecule therapies currently approved for IBD,and physicians should thoroughly understand their clinical benefits and safety profiles when utilizing these treatments in the context of *** review highlights recent studies,including our systematic review and meta-analysis,and discusses the clinical advantages and safety considerations of biologics and small molecules for pregnant women with IBD.
