Multiple reference optical coherence tomography（MR-OCT） is a recently developed, low-cost and compact time-domain OCT solution for primary care and consumer level applications. A combination of a voice coil actuator and a partial mirror（PM） extends the scan range for imaging depths of approximately 1 mm in biological samples. Our previous research on MR-OCT is based only on intensity information obtained from the depth-resolved interference signal. In this Letter, we extract the phase information from the MR-OCT signal and, hence, provide an additional contrast modality. The phase sensitivity of the system is measured to be approximately 0.2 and 1.5 rad for the first and twelfth orders of reflection when using a mirror as the *** Letter describes first results of phase-sensitive data measured on a phantom obtained with MR-OCT. Data from a chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane（CAM） is used to demonstrate the feasibility of MR-OCT for in vivo phase-sensitive imaging.

Corn harvested as grain is a relatively new crop for the province of New Brunswick. The recent availability of local corn has the potential to improve the sustainability of the dairy industry in New Brunswick, but there is debate within the industry concerning the value and best use of the grain. This experiment was conducted to assess the feeding value of locally-produced corn grain stored as dry grain, ensiled high moisture corn, or ensiled as high moisture corncob meal (hMCCM, unhusked ears sometimes referred to as snaplage) relative to dry grain obtained from Ontario. Three samples of each were evaluated In Sacco. Rates and extent of digestion were similar for local and Ontario corn regardless of presentation for crude protein and starch, but acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber and dry matter digestibility values were lower for hMCCM than other treatments. A 4 × 4 Latin square study was conducted with 16 holstein cows and 28 day feeding periods. Milk production and milk protein production were higher (P h the locally produced dry corn than with other treatments. Energy corrected milk was lowest with the hMCCM diet. These results indicated that the value of corn produced in New Brunswick is similar to that produced in Ontario.

Background: The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility and understand the potential impact on elementary students’ perceptions of, and intentions related to, healthy eating and physical activity when their classroom teacher sets and shares goals related to these health behaviors. Methods: Participants in this study included 16 teachers and 229 students of grades 3 - 6 at a large elementary school in the Western United States. Participating students were surveyed before and after a six-week intervention conducted by classroom teachers that consisted of a weekly displaying of Teacher Goal Boards in a prominent classroom location and sharing of goals set for the week. Teacher reports of the previous week’s goals occurred each Monday prior to sharing and posting of new goals for the new week. Results: Respondents reported significantly higher post-test values for over half of pre-post comparisons. Respondents were more likely to intend to be physically active (post = 52.6% vs. pre = 39.0%, p = 0.003), to eat nutritious foods (52.0% vs. 36.4%, p = 0.001), and to maintain a healthy body weight (62.8% vs. 52.2%, p = 0.022). Similar results were found for summary measures. Intention to be physically active, to eat healthy, to maintain a healthy weight, as well as descriptive norms for physical activity and perception and value of personal health behaviors were all significantly higher at post-test. Discussion: This study and its findings are significant because teacher participants were able to significantly and positively impact on students’ behavioral intent, subjective norms, and perception and value of personal health behaviors amongst students without spending additional time on formal health promotion and education instruction. Conclusion: Schools should incentivize and encourage faculty and staff to engage in a variety of health behaviors to improve both personal health outcomes and role model health behaviors for students.

There are many rumen protected amino acid products available for dairy cattle feeding. however, feed formulation programs require values related to rumen solubility, rate of disappearance in the rumen and total tract digestibility and often such values are not available. In vivo testing procedures are complex, time consuming and expensive. This study was conducted to determine if a newrapid, lower cost in vitro method developed for feed ingredients could be applied to a rumen protected lysine product (DairynatLys-30, Jefo Nutrition Inc). In vivo determination of the rapidly solubilized protein fraction, rate of degradation of the slowly solubilized fraction and total tract digestibility studies were compared to the in vitro method in use in many ingredient analysis laboratories for feed ingredients such as forages, protein supplements and grains. Results showed that the rapidly soluble fraction (8.33% and 8.66% of total N for in vivo and in vitro methods) and rates of disappearance in the rumen (2.64%/h and 2.43%/h for in vivo and in vitro procedures) compared favorably between the two methods for the rumen protected product. Total tract digestibility values were slightly higher (84.4%) with the in vivo method used than with the in vitro method (75.9%), and both are in the expected calculated range of digestibility of 80%. In conclusion the in vitro method appears to be an acceptable alternative for evaluating rumen protected amino acids.

hydrogen production through steam reforming of ethanol (SRE) over Mg modified Co-based catalysts supported on mesoporous SBA-15 was studied herein to evaluate the catalytic activity and the behavior of coke deposition. The CoyMgx/SBA-15 catalysts are obtained according to the steps of consecutive impregnation of Mg (x = 5 and 10 wt%) to be incorporated on SBA-15 and then follow the loading of Co (y = 10 and 20 wt%) using the incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalysts are characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and BET techniques. Also, the spent catalysts are further characterized by using XRD and TEM. The catalytic activity of the SRE is evaluated in a fixed-bed reactor under 22,000 h-1 GhSV and with an h2O/EtOh molar ratio of 13. All the CoyMgx/SBA-15 catalysts present a mesoporous structure, even after the SRE reaction. The optimum catalyst of Co20Mg5/SBA-15-h650 comes from the high loading of Co and high reduction temperature pretreatment, which show a high catalytic activity and stability at 550°C with a hydrogen yield (Yh2) up to 5.78 and CO selectivity around 3.10%.

Peanut （Arachis hypogaea; 2n = 4x = 40） is a nutritious food and a good source of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. Expansion of genetic and genomic resources for genetic enhancement of cultivated peanut has gained momentum from the sequenced genomes of the diploid ancestors of cultivated peanut. To facil- itate high-throughput genotyping of Arachis species, 20 genotypes were re-sequenced and genome-wide single nucleotide poiymorphisms （SNPs） were selected to develop a large-scale SNP genotyping array. For flexibility in genotyping applications, SNPs polymorphic between tetraploid and diploid species were included for use in cultivated and interspecific populations. A set of 384 accessions was used to test the array resulting in 54 564 markers that produced high-quality polymorphic clusters between diploid species, 47 116 polymorphic markers between cultivated and interspecific hybrids, and 15 897 polymorphic markers within A. hypogaea germplasm. An additional 1193 markers were identified that illuminated genomic re- gions exhibiting tetrasomic recombination. Furthermore, a set of elite cultivars that make up the pedigree of US runner germplasm were genotyped and used to identify genomic regions that have undergone pos- itive selection. These observations provide key insights on the inclusion of new genetic diversity in culti- vated peanut and will inform the development of high-resolution mapping populations. Due to its efficiency, scope, and flexibility, the newly developed SNP array will be very useful for further genetic and breeding applications in Arachis.
