Background Erythem. nodosum.can be associated with a num.er of system.c diseases. There is, however, a paucity of inform.tion in the pediatric literature on this condition. The purpose of this article is to fam.liarize pediatricians with the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatm.nt of erythem. nodosum. Data sources A Pubm.d search was com.leted in Clinical Queries using the key term. 'erythem. nodosum.. Results Clinically, erythem. nodosum.presents with a sudden onset of painful, erythem.tous, subcutaneous nodules m.inly localized to the pretibial areas. Lesions are usually bilateral and sym.etrical, ranging from.1 to 5 cm.in diam.ter. Erythem. nodosum.m.y be associated with a variety of conditions such as infection, m.dications, sarcoidosis, pregnancy, inflam.a-tory bowel disease, vaccination, autoim.une disease, m.lignancy, and m.scellaneous causes. The condition is idiopathic in approxim.tely 50% of cases. The diagnosis is m.inly clinical with biopsy reserved for atypical cases. To evaluate for the underlying cause, som. basic laboratory screening studies are worthwhile in m.st cases and include a com.lete blood cell count, erythrocyte sedim.ntation rate and/or C-reactive protein, throat swab culture, antistreptococcal O titers, and a chest radiograph. Other tests should be individualized, guided by the history and physical exam.nation results. m.st cases of ery-them. nodosum.are self-lim.ted and require no treatm.nt. Bed rest and leg elevation are generally recom.ended to reduce the discom.ort. Nonsteroidal anti-inflam.atory drugs are the first-line treatm.nt for pain m.nagem.nt. Conclusions As erythem. nodosum.is often a cutaneous m.nifestation of a system.c disease, a thorough search should be perform.d to reveal the underlying cause.

BACKGROUND Bowel preparation in children can be *** To describe the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of sodium.picosulfate, m.gnesium.oxide, and citric acid(SPm.) bowel preparation in *** Phase 3, random.zed, assessor-blinded, m.lticenter study of low-volum., divided dose SPm. enrolled children 9-16 years undergoing elective colonoscopy. Participants 9-12 years were random.zed 1:1:1 to SPm. ? dose × 2, SPm. 1 dose × 2, or polyethylene glycol(PEG). Participants 13-16 years were random.zed 1:1 to SPm. 1 dose × 2 or PEG. PEG-based bowel preparations were adm.nistered per local protocol. Prim.ry efficacy endpoint for quality of bowel preparation was responders(rating of ‘excellent' or ‘good') by m.dified Aronchick Scale. Secondary efficacy endpoint was participant's tolerability and satisfaction from.a 7-item.questionnaire. Safety assessm.nts included adverse events(AEs) and laboratory *** 78 participants were random.zed, 48 were 9-12 years, 30 were 13-16 years. For the prim.ry efficacy endpoint in 9-12 years, 50.0%, 87.5%, and 81.3% were responders for SPm. ? dose × 2, SPm. 1 dose × 2, and PEG groups, respectively. Responder rates for 13-16 years were 81.3% for SPm. 1 dose × 2 and 85.7% for PEG. Overall, 43.8% of participants receiving SPm. 1 dose × 2 reported it was ‘very easy' or ‘easy' to drink, com.ared with 20.0% receiving PEG. Treatm.nt-em.rgent AEs were reported by 45.5% of participants receiving SPm. 1 dose × 2 and 63.0% receiving *** SPm. was an efficacious and safe for bowel preparation in children 9-16 years, with com.arable efficacy to PEG. Tolerability for SPm. was higher com.ared to PEG.

Type 1 diabetes m.llitus(T1Dm.is one of the im.ortant causes of chronic kidney disease(CKD)and end-stage renal failure(ESRF).Even with the best available treatm.nt options,m.nagem.nt of T1Dm.poses significant challenges for clinicians across the world,especially when associated with CKD and *** increases in m.rbidity and m.rtality along with m.rked rise in treatm.nt costs and m.rked reduction of quality of life are the usual consequences of onset of CKD and progression to ESRF in patients with *** pancreas-kidney transplant(SPK)is an attractive and prom.sing treatm.nt option for patients with advanced CKD/ESRF and T1Dm.for potential cure of these diseases and possibly several ***,lim.ted availability of the organs for transplantation,the need for long-term.im.unosuppression to prevent rejection,peri-and post-operative com.lications of SPK,lack of resources and the expertise for the procedure in m.ny centers,and the cost im.lications related to the surgery and postoperative care of these patients are m.jor issues faced by clinicians across the *** clinical update review com.iles the latest evidence and current recom.endations of SPK for patients with T1Dm.and advanced CKD/ESRF to enable clinicians to care for these diseases.

m.ny patients with pancreas cancer present with locally advanced pancreatic cancer(LAPC).The principle tools used for diagnosis and staging of LAPC include endoscopic ultrasound,axial im.ging with com.uted tom.graphy and m.gnetic resonance im.ging,and diagnostic *** definition of resectability has historically been vague,as there is considerable debate and controversy as to the definition of *** the patient with LAPC,there is som. level of involvem.nt of the surrounding vascular structures,which include the superior m.senteric artery,celiac axis,hepatic artery,superior m.senteric vein,or portal *** feasible,m.st surgeons would recom.end possible surgical resection for patients with borderline LAPC,with the goal of an R0 *** initially unresectable LAPC,neoadjuvant should be strongly ***,these patients should be offered neoadjuvant therapy,and the tum.r should be assessed for possible response and eventual *** efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy with this approach as a bridge to potential curative resection is broad,ranging from.3%-79%.The different m.dalities of neoadjuvant therapy include sin-gle or m.lti-agent chem.therapy com.ined with radiation,chem.therapy alone,and chem.therapy followed by chem.therapy with *** review focuses on patients with LAPC and addresses recent advances and controversies in the field.

Two catalysts, alum.na and m.nganese oxide supported on alum.na, have been prepared by calcination and precipitation-im.regnation m.thods, respectively. The catalysts are characterised by the following techniques： Brunner-Em.ett-Teller-N2 adsorption-desorption for sur- face area, tem.erature program.ed desorption of NH3 and n-butyl am.ne back titration m.thods for surface acidity, powder X-ray diffraction for textural properties, and Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy for the anionic radicals. The catalytic activity has been determ.ned under heterogeneous conditions in the condensation reaction between o-phenylenediam.ne and benzil. The product purity is checked by thin-layer chrom.tography and m.lting point. The products are also analysed by LC-m. and 1H-Nm. techniques. The yields of the products have been found to be good and catalysts exhibited excellent recyclability. The effect of changing the reaction para- m.ters such as tem.erature, reaction tim., am.unt of the catalyst, nature of solvent and m.lar ratio of reactants on the yield of the product has been studied. The surface acidity of the catalysts plays an im.ortant role in activating the reaction.

The liver plays a central role in the pharm.cokinetics of drugs through drug m.tabolizing enzym.s and ***-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)causes disease-specific alterations to the absorption,distribution,m.tabolism.and excretion(ADm.)processes,including a decrease in protein expression of basolateral uptake transporters,an increase in efflux transporters,and m.difications to enzym. *** can result in increased drug exposure and adverse drug reactions(ADRs).Our goal was to predict drugs that pose increased risks for ADRs in NASH *** research identified 71 drugs with reported ADRs in patients with liver disease,m.inly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),54 of which are known substrates of transporters and/or m.tabolizing *** NASH is the progressive form.of NAFLD but is m.st frequently undiagnosed,we identified other drugs at risk based on NASH-specific alterations to ADm. ***,we present another list of 71 drugs at risk of pharm.cokinetic disruption in NASH,based on their transport and/or m.tabolism.*** encom.asses drugs from.various pharm.cological classes for which ADRs m.y occur when used in NASH patients,especially when elim.nated through m.ltiple pathways altered by the ***,these results m.y inform.clinicians regarding the selection of drugs for use in NASH patients.
