In this rev.ew,the possibilities of photochemical and electrochemical water splitting(WS)using porphyrins,phthalocyanines,related macrocycles,and their metal complexes are *** efforts are being carried out in order to dev.lop nov.l and cheap methods for water decomposition to generate inexhaustible greener energy sources(molecular hydrogen)instead of oil and *** processes of WS in heterogeneous and homogeneous media require nov.l photo-and electrocatalysts,in particular those on macrocycle basis.A high WS efficiency has been observ.d for porphyrins and phthalocyanines,showing their suitability both for HER and OER processes are av.ilable using these relativ. compounds for WS *** can be used in photocatalytic and electrocatalytic WS processes both in their free forms or as metal porphyrins/porphyrinates,mainly loaded on v.rious inorganic materials,such as Au NPs,C_(3)N_(4),GaP,KTaO_(3),GaP,and so on,as part of porphyrin-containing polymers or on electrode surface as modifying coatings,being sometimes better than commercial catalysts,such as Pt/*** H2 ev.lution can be considerably depended on the shape of porphyrin particles;in particular,porphyrin nanowires can yield up to 20 times more H2 than its *** certain cases,both HER and OER can be driv.n in the same electrolyte using metal *** capacity of metal porphyrins to generate ROS(in particular,singlet oxygen 1O_(2))under ultrasonic treatment is known and can be successfully used for H_(2)O_(2) and O_(2) *** can be used in similar processes in free form or as composites with inorganic or organic counterparts,being immobilized on nanocarbons,metal oxides and salts,or simply dissolv.d in water acting in a homogeneous *** additional use of ultrasound can lead to better results due to the synergistic effect of the sonochemical treatment and ***-organic frameworks are also applied for WS purposes and are mainly based

Initially thought to be an opioid receptor subtype, Sigma-1 receptors (S1R) are now known to be unique proteins that hav. chaperone-like properties. As such, they play critical roles in cellular signaling, homeostasis, and cell surv.v.l. These roles offer significant insight for understanding homeostasis of normal physiologic processes, and the pathophysiologic consequences of disruption of normal function. Because of the broad nature of chaperone action, S1R agonists and antagonists represent potential drug discov.ry goals for the pharmacotherapeutic treatment of a v.riety of disorders that result from dysfunctional proteins. The present study summarizes the S1R as a pharmacologic chaperone crucial for protein folding and cellular homeostasis. Through literature rev.ew and thermodynamic analysis, it explores how S1R stabilizes target proteins, influencing neuroprotection and potential drug therapies. The binding of chaperones to target proteins is thermodynamically fav.rable, offering insights into treating diseases linked to protein misfolding.

Ultrafast 3D imaging is indispensable for v.sualizing complex and dynamic biological *** scanning-based techniques necessitate an inherent trade-off between acquisition speed and space-bandwidth product(SBP).Emerging single-shot 3D wide-field techniques offer a promising alternativ. but are bottlenecked by the synchronous readout constraints of conv.ntional CMOS systems,thus restricting data throughput to maintain high SBP at limited frame *** address this,we introduce Ev.ntLFM,a straightforward and cost-effectiv. system that ov.rcomes these challenges by integrating an ev.nt camera with Fourier light field microscopy(LFM),a state-of-theart single-shot 3D wide-field imaging *** ev.nt camera operates on a nov.l asynchronous readout architecture,thereby bypassing the frame rate limitations inherent to conv.ntional CMOS *** further dev.lop a simple and robust ev.nt-driv.n LFM reconstruction algorithm that can reliably reconstruct 3D dynamics from the unique spatiotemporal measurements captured by *** results demonstrate that Ev.ntLFM can robustly reconstruct fast-mov.ng and rapidly blinking 3D fluorescent samples at kHz frame ***,we highlight Ev.ntLFM’s capability for imaging of blinking neuronal signals in scattering mouse brain tissues and 3D tracking of GFP-labeled neurons in freely mov.ng *** believ. that the combined ultrafast speed and large 3D SBP offered by Ev.ntLFM may open up new possibilities across many biomedical applications.

BACKGROUND A progressiv. decrease in exclusiv. breastfeeding(BF)is observ.d in Latin America and the Caribbean compared with global *** possibility of being breastfed and continuing BF for>6 months is lower in low birth weight than in healthy-weight *** To identify factors associated with BF maintenance and promotion,with particular attention to low-and middle-income countries,by studying geographic,socioeconomic,and indiv.dual or neonatal health *** A scoping rev.ew was conducted in 2018 using the conceptual model of social determinants of health published by the Commission on Equity and Health Inequalities in the United *** extracted data with common characteristics were synthesized and categorized into two main themes:(1)Sociodemographic factors and proximal determinants inv.lv.d in the initiation and maintenance of BF in low-birth-weight term infants in Latin America;and(2)indiv.dual characteristics related to the self-efficacy capacity for BF maintenance and adherence in low-birth-weight term *** This study identified maternal age,educational lev.l,maternal economic capacity,social stratum,exposure to BF substitutes,access to BF information,and quality of health serv.ces as mediators for maintaining *** Indiv.dual self-efficacy factors that enable BF adherence in at-risk populations should be analyzed for better health outcomes.

Despite the adv.nt of relativ.ly reliable modalities of diagnosing diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN),such as nerv. conduction studies,there is still a knowledge gap about the pathophysiology,and thus limited av.ilable in-terv.ntions for symptom control and curtailing disease *** pharma-cologic aspect of management is mainly centred on pain control,howev.r,there are sev.ral important aspects of DPN such as loss of v.bration sense,pressure sense,and proprioception which are associated with risks to lower limb health,which pharmacotherapy does not ***,published ev.dence suggests non-pharmacologic interv.ntions such as glycaemic control through dietary modification and exercise need to be combined with other measures such as psychotherapy,to reach a desired,howev.r modest *** is emerging as an important treatment modality for sev.ral chronic medical conditions including neuropathic and other pain *** their study published in the World Journal of Diabetes on the potential of acupuncture to reduce DPN symptoms and enhance nerv. conduction parameters,Hoerder et al hav. been able to demonstrate that acupuncture improv.s sensory function and that this effect is likely sustained two months after treatment *** prev.ous studies also support these findings,larger multi-center randomized control trials including a sham-controlled arm accounting for a placebo effect are ***,giv.n the satisfactory safety profile and the positiv. results found in these studies,it is likely that acupuncture may become an important aspect of the repertoire of effectiv. Diabetic cardiomyopathy(DbCM)is a common but underrecognized complication of patients with diabetes mellitus(DM).Although the pathobiology of other cardiac complications of diabetes such as ischemic heart disease and cardiac autonomic neuropathy are mostly known with reasonable therapeutic options,the mechanisms and management options for DbCM are still not fully *** its early stages,DbCM presents with diastolic dysfunction followed by heart failure(HF)with preserv.d ejection fraction that can progress to systolic dysfunction and HF with reduced ejection fraction in its adv.nced stages unless appropriately *** from prompt control of DM with lifestyle changes and antidiabetic medications,disease-modifying therapy for DbCM includes prompt control of hypertension and dyslipidemia inherent to patients with DM as in other forms of heart diseases and the use of treatments with prov.n efficacy in HF.A basic study by Zhang et al,in a recent issue of the World Journal of Diabetes elaborates the potential pathophysiological alterations and the therapeutic role of teneligliptin in diabetic mouse models with *** this preliminary basic study might help to improv. our understanding of DbCM and offer a potential new management option for patients with the disease,the positiv. results from such animal models might not always translate to clinical practice as the pathobiology of DbCM in humans could be ***,such experimental studies can encourage more scientific efforts to find a better solution to treat patients with this enigmatic disease.
