seasonal resource selection of an arboreal habitatspecialist in a human-dominated landscape: A case studyusing red panda

Human-dominated landscapes provide heterogeneous wildlife habitat. Conservation of habitat specialists, like red pandas Ailurus fulgens, inhabiting such landscapes is challenging. Therefore, information on resource use across spatial and temporal scales could enable informed-decisionmaking with better conservation outcomes. We aimed to examine the effect of geo-physical, vegetation, and disturbance variables on fine-scalehabitat selection of red pandas in one such landscape. We equipped 10 red pandas with GPs collars in eastern Nepal in 2019 and monitoredthem for 1 year. Our analysis was based on a generalized-linear-mixed model. We found the combined effect of geo-physical, vegetation, anddisturbance variables resulted in differences in resource selection of red pandas and that the degree of response to these variables variedacross seasons. Human disturbances, especially road and cattle herding activities, affected habitat utilization throughout the year whereas othervariables were important only during restricted periods. For instance, geo-physical variables were influential in the premating and cub-rearingseasons while vegetation variables were important in all seasons other than premating. Red pandas selected steeper slopes with high solarinsolation in the premating season while they occupied elevated areas and preferred specific aspects in the cub-rearing season. Furthermore,the utilized areas had tall bamboo in the birthing and cub-rearing seasons while they also preferred diverse tree species and high shrub coverin the latter. Our study demonstrates the significance of season-specific management, suggests the importance of specific types of vegetationduring biologically crucial periods, and emphasizes the necessity to minimize disturbances throughout the year.

Herein, we reported the microemulsion polymerization in supercritical carbon dioxide. With the aid of an anionic phosphate fluorosurfactant （bis-[2-（F-hexyl）ethyl]phosphate sodium）, water-soluble/CO2-insoluble acryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride monomer and N,N＇-methylene-bisacrylamide cross-linker were solubilized into CO2 continuous phase via the formation of water-in-CO2 （w/c） microemulsion water pools. Initiated by a CO2-soluble initiator, 2,2＇-azo-bisisobutyronitrile （AIBN）, cross-linked poly（acryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride） particles were produced and stabilized in these w/c internal water pools. Nano-sized particles with sizes less than 20 nm in diameter and narrow particle size distributions were obtained.

Enhanced Attention-Based Encoder-Decoder Framework for Text Recognition

Recognizing irregular text in natural images is a challenging task in computer *** existing approaches still face difﬁculties in recognizing irre-gular text because of its diverse *** this paper,we propose a simple yet powerful irregular text recognition framework based on an encoder-decoder *** proposed framework is divided into four main ***,in the image transformation module,a Thin Plate spline(TPs)transformation is employed to transform the irregular text image into a readable text ***-ondly,we propose a novel spatial Attention Module(sAM)to compel the model to concentrate on text regions and obtain enriched feature ***,a deep bi-directional long short-term memory(Bi-LsTM)network is used to make a con-textual feature map out of a visual feature map generated from a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).Finally,we propose a Dual step Attention Mechanism(DsAM)integrated with the Connectionist Temporal Classiﬁcation(CTC)-Attention decoder to re-weights visual features and focus on the intra-sequence relationships to generate a more accurate character *** effectiveness of our proposed framework is veriﬁed through extensive experiments on various benchmarks datasets,such as sVT,ICDAR,CUTE80,and *** perfor-mance of the proposed text recognition framework is analyzed with the accuracy *** that our proposed method outperforms the existing approaches on both regular and irregular ***,the robustness of our approach is evaluated using the grocery datasets,such as GroZi-120,Web-Market,sKU-110K,and Freiburg Groceries datasets that contain complex text ***,our framework produces superior performance on grocery datasets.

Lie Invariants in Two and Three Variables

We use computer algebra to determine the Lie invariants of degree ≤ 12 in the free Lie algebra on two generators corresponding to the natural representation of the simple 3-dimensional Lie algebra sl2（C）. We then consider the free Lie algebra on three generators, and compute the Lie invariants of degree ≤ 7 corresponding to the adjoint representation of sl2（C）, and the Lie invariants of degree ≤ 9 corresponding to the natural representation of sl3（C）. We represent the action of sl2（C） and sl3（C） on Lie polynomials by computing the coefficient matrix with respect to the basis of Hall words.

Effect of hydrostatic pressure and polaronic mass of the binding energy in a spherical quantum dot

simultaneous effect of hydrostatic pressure and polaronic mass on the binding energies of the ground and excited states of an on-center hydrogenic impurity confined in a GaAs/GaA1As spherical quantum dot are theoretically investigated by the variational method within the effective mass approximation. The binding energy is calculated as a function of dot radius and pressure. Our findings proved that the hydrostatic pressure led to the decrease of confined energy and the increase of donor binding energy. Conduction band non-parabolicity and the polaron masses are effective in the donor binding energy which is significant for narrow dots not in the confined energy. The maximum donor binding energy achieved by the polaronic mass in the ground and excited states are 2%-19% for the narrow dots. The confined and donor binding energies approach zero as the dot size approaches infinity.

Trace fossils represent both sedimentological and paleontological entities, representing a unique blending of potential environmental indicators in the rock record. Trace fossils and trace fossil suites can be employed effectively to aid in the recognition of various discontinuity types and to assist in their genetic interpretation. Ichnology may be employed to resolve surfaces of strati-graphic significance in two main ways: 1) through the identification of discontinuities using substrate-controlled ichnofacies, and 2) through careful analysis of vertical softground (penecontem-poraneous) ichnologic successions (analogous to facies successions). Ichnological analysis is a valuable tool in genetic stratigraphic studies. Integrating the data derived from substrate-controlled ichnofacies with paleoecological data from vertical ichnologic successions greatly enhances the recognition and interpretation of a wide variety of stratigraphic surfaces. When this is coupled with conventional facies analysis and sequence stratigraphy, a powerful approach to the interpretation of the rock record is generated.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma treatment paradigm after HK0501–a potential way forward

The Hong Kong Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma(NPC)study Group 0501 trial(HK0501)is the first trial that directly compares induction(IC)versus adjuvant chemotherapy(AC)both given together with concurrent chemoradiation(CCRT)treatment,which long has been a contentious issue[1].Its most salient finding is that when adjusted for platinum doses and other significant factors,the timing of the chemotherapy sequence is not *** the era where chemotherapy is administered at maximum tolerated doses(MTD),the induction strategy has the advantage because of better *** the other hand,with the realization that there may be more ways to skin a cat,adjuvant metronomic chemotherapy has gained traction at the 2021 American society of Clinical Oncology(AsCO)meeting[2]and provides an alternative to the decades’old dogma of *** chemotherapy works by exerting an anti-angiogenic effect[3-6]and also has immune effects like removing regulatory T cells(Tregs)[7]and myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDsCs)from the tumour microenvironment[8]and causing dendritic cell maturation,which upregulates and primes the anti-tumor T cell immune response[9,10].Pediatricians are probably the first to successfully incorporate 2 years of maintenance metronomic chemotherapy in their childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia protocols[11]which now boast cure rates of over 90%[12].
