Therefo.e, we develo.ed a spectral signature reflectance fo. the vegetative stage o. the green gram (Vigna. radiata L.) o.er 5 years (2020, 2018, 2017, 2015, and 2013) fo. agro.co.o.ical zo.e IV and V in Kenya. The years cho.en were tho.e who.e satellite reso.utio. data was available fo. the vegetative stage o. cro. gro.th in the sho.t rain seaso. (o.to.er, No.ember, December (o.D)). We used Landsat 8 o.I satellite imagery in this study. Cro.ping pattern data fo. the study area were evaluated by calculating the To. o. Atmo.phere reflectance. Farms geo.referencing, alo.g with field data co.lectio., was undertaken to.extract To. o. Atmo.phere reflectance fo. bands 2, 3, 4 and 7. We also.carried a spectral similarity assessment o. the vario.s cro.ping patterns. The spectral reflectance ranged fro. 0.07696 - 0.09632, 0.07466 - 0.09467, 0.0704047 - 0.12188,0.19822 - 0.24387, 0.19269 - 0.26900, and 0.11354 - 0.20815 fo. bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 fo. green gram, respectively. The results sho.ed a dissimilarity amo.g the vario.s cro.ping patterns. The lo.est dissimilarity index was 0.027 fo. the maize (Zea mays L.) bean (Phaseo.us vulgaris) versus the maize-pigeo. pea (Cajanus cajan) cro., while the highest dissimilarity index was 0.443 fo. the maize bean versus the maize bean and co.pea cro.ping patterns. High cro. dissimilarities experienced acro.s the cro.ping pattern thro.gh these spectral reflectance values co.firm that the green gram was po.entially identifiable. The results can be used in cro. type identificatio. in agro.co.o.ical lo.er midland zo.e IV and V fo. mung bean management. This study therefo.e suggests that use o. reflectance data in remo.e sensing o. agricultural eco.ystems wo.ld aid in planning, management, and cro. allo.atio. to.different eco.o.es.

The develo.ment o. artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning, has made it po.sible to.accelerate and impro.e the pro.essing o. data co.lected in different fields (co.merce, medicine, surveillance o. security, agriculture, etc.). Mo.t related wo.ks use o.en so.rce co.sistent image databases. This is the case fo. ImageNet reference data such as co.o.data, IP102, CIFAR-10, STL-10 and many o.hers with variability representatives. The co.sistency o. its images co.tributes to.the spectacular results o.served in its fields with deep learning. The applicatio. o. deep learning which is making its debut in geo.o.y do.s no., to.o.r kno.ledge, include a database o. micro.co.ic images o. thin sectio.s o. o.en so.rce ro.k minerals. In this paper, we evaluate three o.timizers under the AlexNet architecture to.check whether o.r acquired mineral images have o.ject features o. patterns that are clear and distinct to.be extracted by a neural netwo.k. These are thin sectio.s o. magmatic ro.ks (bio.ite and 2-mica granite, grano.io.ite, simple granite, do.erite, charno.ite and gabbro., etc.) which served as suppo.t. We use two.hyper-parameters: the number o. epo.hs to.perfo.m co.plete ro.nds o. the entire data set and the “learning rate” to.indicate ho. quickly the weights in the netwo.k will be mo.ified during o.timizatio.. Using Transfer Learning, the three (3) o.timizers all based o. the gradient descent metho.s o. Sto.hastic Mo.entum Gradient Descent (sgdm), Ro.t Mean Square Pro.agatio. (RMSpro.) algo.ithm and Adaptive Estimatio. o. mo.ent (Adam) achieved better perfo.mance. The reco.ded results indicate that the Mo.entum o.timizer achieved the best sco.es respectively o. 96.2% with a learning step set to.10−3 fo. a fixed cho.ce o. 350 epo.hs during this variatio. and 96, 7% o.er 300 epo.hs fo. the same value o. the learning step. This repo.t pro.ides an o.erall assessment o. land fragmentatio. pro.lems in East Africa. Many parts o. East Africa have beco.e highly fragmented, putting develo.ment systems and activities in these areas at risk o. co.plete co.lapse. Land fragmentatio. o.curs when land gets co.verted fo. agriculture, industrializatio., o. urbanizatio., invaded by no.-lo.al plants, o. enclo.ed fo. individual use and by subdividing farmlands into.subsequent smaller units called parcels with varying average farm sizes. Fragmentatio. results fro. inappro.riate agricultural develo.ment pro.esses and ineffective land use planning that fails to.reco.nize ho. farmland is used, and the impo.tance o. its interco.nected areas. Insecurity o. tenure and reso.rce rights are key facto.s in making this po.sible. Land fragmentatio. is o.e o. the key reaso.s why the ability o. mo.t reso.rces in East Africa beco.es scarcer, and tho.e remaining beco.e “privatized” by mo.e po.erful co.munity members—keen to.maintain their access to.them. Such individualistic attitudes are new and disadvantage the po.rest even further by affecting the traditio.al custo.ary safety nets and agricultural o.tputs. Neither the go.ernment no. custo.ary go.ernance systems effectively pro.ect reso.rce access fo. the po.rest. This review summary repo.t identifies the key causes, measures, and implicatio.s, go.ernment interventio.s, and the co.mo. remedies to.land fragmentatio. pro.lems in the East African Co.ntries o. Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania including neighbo.ing Ethio.ia, and the Sudan. Chro.ic hepatitis B (CHB) dispro.o.tio.ately affects mino.ity gro.ps in the US, particularly Asian Americans, with numero.s facto.s co.tributing to.this disparity. o. the 2.4 millio. peo.le living with chro.ic HBV in the US, 60% are Asian American. Many are unaware o. their status and lack access to.pro.er clinical care, with less than ten percent receiving necessary antiviral treatment. Barriers to.screening and care include lack o. disease awareness, language and cultural barriers, and financial co.straints. Additio.ally, healthcare pro.iders and systems in the US o.ten o.erlo.k the impo.tance o. CHB, leading to.inadequate care. In respo.se, the Center fo. Viral Hepatitis (CVH) has implemented a co.munity-based o.treach pro.ram o.er the past sixteen years, emplo.ing a multifaceted appro.ch invo.ving all secto.s o. so.iety and vario.s o.ganizatio.s to.co.bat health disparities in CHB. This grassro.ts campaign has pro.en highly effective, leveraging CVH’s leadership in spearheading numero.s co.labo.ative activities with co.munity members, healthcare pro.essio.als, and po.icymakers. We have summarized the key po.nts o. CVH's effo.ts and their significance in co.bating CHB-related health disparities. The CHB Screening and Awareness Campaign, tailo.ed to.the Asian American co.munity, serves as a successful mo.el fo. increasing CHB screening, linkage-to.care, and addressing so.io.cultural barriers and health literacy. Insights fro. these o.treach pro.rams have guided the develo.ment o. culturally relevant reso.rces and educatio. initiatives. These findings suggest that such co.munity-driven appro.ches are essential fo. addressing health disparities. The strategies and o.tco.es o. CVH’s effo.ts can info.m future health initiatives fo. o.her mino.ity co.munities in the US and glo.ally.

Despite diesel engines being highly efficient, with lo. fuel co.sumptio. and reduced carbo. dio.ide emissio.s, they emit relatively high levels o. particulate matter and o.ides o. nitro.en (No.) due to.high exhaust gas temperatures. Engine emissio.s sho. the quality and co.pleteness o. co.bustio.. This paper aims to.present the results o. a study co.paring exhaust emissio.s fro. a diesel and syngas po.ered engine. Syngas was pro.uced fro. co.firing co.l and bio.ass in a gasifier then cleaned, co.led and applied as an alternative fuel in an engine o.erated fro. 0 - 100% lo.d. Exhaust-emissio.s were mo.ito.ed at this lo.d co.ditio.s. The exhaust-temperature was measured using thermo.o.ples and the emissio. gases were analyzed using Testo.350. The emissio.s were lo.er and decreased as the engine lo.d increased, except fo. sulphur dio.ide and No.. The study sho.s that levels o. carbo. mo.o.ide, were higher in a range o. 46.5 - 80.2%, while carbo. dio.ide was 3.3 - 18% higher co.pared to.tho.e fro. diesel. Hydro.arbo. emissio.s were 480 and 1250 ppm fo. diesel and syngas respectively. The study reveals that the engine o.erates o.timally at higher lo.ds since hydro.arbo.s and o.ides o. carbo. are lo. due to.co.plete co.bustio. at higher temperatures. Exhaust gas temperature was higher in the syngas fuel and increased as the engine lo.d increased in the range o. 455.83 - 480.03˚C which influenced the fo.matio. o. No.. No. fro. diesel was fo.nd to.be higher, ranging fro. 32.5 - 40.5%, co.pared to.tho.e fro. syngas with an engine lo.d o. 75%. The study o.served that relative to.diesel, the emissio.s o. sulfur dio.ide at 50% engine lo.d were lo.er in a range o. 23.7 - 57.1%. So.bean pro.uctio. systems that return plant residues to.the so.l surface are gaining in po.ularity. As these practices beco.e mo.e widespread, mo.e cro. and weed residues are being intro.uced into.the upper so.l pro.ile. Greenho.se studies were co.ducted to.determine the effects o. varying co.centratio.s o. Palmer amaranth and pitted mo.ningglo.y plant residues (abo.egro.nd po.tio. o. the plant) o. so.bean pro.uctio.. The study was arranged in a co.pletely rando.ized experimental design with five treatments and five replicatio.s. Palmer amaranth and pitted mo.ningglo.y residues were inco.po.ated into.so.l at 20,000, 40,000, 80,000 and 160,000 ppm. Inert plastic residue at the same residue levels was included as a check. So.bean dry weight, leaf area and leaf tissue nutrient co.tent were reco.ded during the study. A decrease in so.bean dry weight and leaf area was o.served as Palmer amaranth residue in the so.l increased. Palmer amaranth residues o. 160,000 ppm and 80,000 ppm in the so.l significantly reduced so.bean dry weight by 69% and 59%, respectively, and so.bean leaf area by 60% and 57%, respectively. In co.trast, pitted mo.ningglo.y and inert plastic residues had no.o.servable effect o. so.bean gro.th and develo.ment. This study demo.strated Palmer amaranth residues in the so.l impacted early seaso. so.bean gro.th and develo.ment.
