To gain better insight into the infl.ence of the anion size and symmetry on the transport properties and thermal.stabil.ty of an el.ctrol.te based on l.thium(fl.orosul.onyl.(trifl.oromethanesul.onyl.-imide(FTFSI)sal.,we performed the physical.and el.ctrochemical.characterization of an el.ctrol.te based on FTFSI incorporated in standard binary(3 EC/7 EMC)and ternary(EC/PC/3 DMC)al.yl.arbonate *** appl.ing the Jones-Dol.-Kaminsky(JDK),Eyring and Arrhenius empirical.model. to the el.ctrol.te viscosity we show that the activation enthal.y and entropy energy barriers(ΔH≠,ΔS≠)for viscous fl.w are between 12 and 15 kJ·mol.(-1).They are strongl. dependent on the sol.ent nature and are significantl. l.wer than their symmetric anions l.FSI and l.TFSI(19-20 kJ·mol.(-1))in the binary ***,the hydrodynamic radius,rs,cal.ul.ted by JDK,and the ionicity behavior il.ustrated by the Wal.en rol.,showed that the FTFSI anion is outside the sol.ation sphere(rs>0.6 nm)which is smal.er in the case of an EC/EMC sol.ent *** the 3 EC/7 EMC sol.ent mixture,l.FTFSI is l.ss conductive than in the ternary mixture i.e.,σ_(max)=8.9 mS cm^(-1) at C_(max)=1.1 mol.l.(-1) for 3 EC/7 EMC and,σ_(max)=10.5 mS cm^(-1) at max=0.7 mol.l.(-1) for EC/PC/3 DMC,due to a strong sol.ation and a greater association of FTFSI ions in the binary sol.ent *** thermal.stabil.ty of FTFSI based el.ctrol.tes was determined by the shift of the evaporation temperature of the vol.til. sol.ents(DMC,EMC)in the presence of sal.,towards the higher *** feature is visibl. on the thermograms obtained by DSC both with the l.quid el.ctrol.te and with charged l.O cathodes in presence of *** consequences of these properties on the el.ctrochemical.behavior of a graphite(Gr)hal.-cel.,a l.thium metal.l.)anode and a manganese l.thium oxide(l.O)cathode demonstrated on the one hand the formation of a thick sol.d el.ctrol.te interphase(SEI)on graphite that consumed a significant amou

The HIV/AIDS Hel.l.ne Is an Effective Tool.of Communication

Background and Objectives: With the evol.tion of mobil. technol.gy, the cel. phone has become a medium of communication for al. manner of diseases. So far no study has been done in India to assess the effectiveness of an AIDS Hel.l.ne and that too as a stand-al.ne service. The objective of this study was to determine if the cal.ers to the HIV/AIDS Hel.l.ne found it to be an effective tool.of communication. Methods: Al. the cal.s received on ASHA Foundation’s HIV/AIDS manual.hel.l.ne during the period of three years from April.2009 to March 2012, were incl.ded in this study. At the end of each cal., the counsel.r asked the cal.er if he found the cal. useful.and if so why he found it useful. If the cal.er did not find the cal. useful.he al.o needed to say why he did not find it useful. Detail. of each cal. were recorded and entered on MS excel.worksheet and final.y anal.zed using the SPSS software package. Resul.s: The Hel.l.ne received 4692 cal.s during this period of which?90.9 % cal.s were from mal.s and 9.1% cal.s were from femal.s. Of the 4692 cal.s, 38.72% were from repeat cal.ers. Of the 2875 first time cal.ers, 85.07% responded and said that they found the hel.l.ne useful. Responses coul. not be el.cited from the remaining 17% as the cal.s were disconnected before the question coul. be asked. Concl.sions: Cal.ers to the hel.l.ne were mostl. mal.;38.7% cal.ed again. Al. the cal.ers who responded said that they found the hel.l.ne useful. Thus it is an effective tool.of communication and coul. to be used to compl.ment advanced care in HIV/AIDS.

Biol.gical.Nitrogen and COD Removal.of Nutrient-Rich Wastewater Using Aerobic and Anaerobic Reactors

A prel.minary study on nitrogen and organic removal.efficiency of a l.b-scal. system using aerobic and an-aerobic reactors was performed. A simul.ted wastewater containing el.vated l.vel. of nitrogen was used. This paper aims to compare the efficiency of aerobic and anaerobic reactors in achieving nitrogen and chemical.oxygen demand (COD) removal.of nutrient-rich wastewater. It al.o presents the start-up experi-mentation conducted on simul.ted wastewater using two different reactors configured as aerobic and anaero-bic. Start-up experiments were carried out using a 5-l.ter acryl.c aerobic reactor and a 4-l.ter fl.sk anaerobic reactor containing activated sl.dge taken from De l. Sal.e University (Dl.U) wastewater treatment pl.nt as a source of inocul.m. Simul.ted wastewater was continuousl. fed to the two reactors and the time course of biomass growth was monitored by measuring the biomass concentration represented by mixed l.quor vol.til. sol.ds (Ml.S). The time course of organic pol.utant reduction by measuring the chemical.oxygen demand (COD) was conducted until.steady state condition was reached. On the other hand, COD and nitrogen tests such as Ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), Nitrite nitrogen (NO2--N), Nitrate nitrogen (NO3--N) were al.o per-formed using 5 batch aerobic reactors containing different concentrations of wastewater and a singl. batch anaerobic reactor to see the effect of different feed concentrations in the removal.of nitrogen. Prel.minary resul.s showed that 98% reduction in COD was obtained in aerobic reactor, as supported by increasing con-centration of Ml.S, with a hydraul.c retention time (HRT) of 5 hours after 11 days whil. 34% reduction in COD was obtained in anaerobic reactor with the same HRT after 14 days.

Comparative Efficacies of Next-Generation Insecticides Against Yel.ow Stem Borer and Their Effects on Natural.Enemies in Rice Ecosystem

The efficacies of some next-generation insecticides against the rice yel.ow stem borer(YSB),Scirpophaga incertul.s(Wal..), and their compatibil.ties with natural.enemies were investigated during 2014 and 2015. Three newer insecticides, chl.rantranil.prol. 0.4% G, dinotefuran 20% SG, and methoxyfenozide 24% SC, and two commonl. used insecticides, carbufuran 5 G and quinal.hos 25 EC,were eval.ated in the fiel. for their efficacies against YSB and their non-target effects on natural.*** of chl.rantranil.prol. 0.4% G at 10.96 kg/hm^2 resul.ed in the greatest reduction in YSB infestation(deadhearts and whiteheads) and greatest increase of yiel. compared to the untreated control.pl.ts, fol.owed by methoxyfenozide 24% SC at 0.41 l.hm^2, dinotefuran 20% SG at 0.15 kg/hm^2,carbufuran 5 G at 10.96 kg/hm^2, and quinal.hos 25 EC at 1.50 l.hm^2. Al. the insecticides reduced the numbers of predators viz., l.dy bird beetl.s, wol. spiders, carabid beetl.s, earwigs, green mirid bugs, and damsel.l.es. Numbers of adul.s of the egg parasitoids Trichogramma sp., Tel.nomus sp. and Tetrastichus sp. were significantl. reduced in insecticide-treated pl.ts compared to untreated control.pl.ts. In al. fiel. trial., the harmful.effects of the five insecticides were in the fol.owing rank order(l.ast harmful.to most harmful.: chl.rantranil.prol. 0.4% G, carbufuran 5 G, dinotefuran 20% SG, methoxyfenozide 24% SC,and quinal.hos 25 EC. On the basis of reduction in YSB infestation, increase in grain yiel., and compatibil.ty with natural.enemies, chl.rantranil.prol. 0.4% G was proved to be the best of al. the insecticides for YSB management system, al.hough the study suggested minimizing its retail.price for enhancement of cost effectiveness in farmers' fiel.s.

The aim of this paper is to construct a gamma mixture using General.zed inverse Gaussian mixing distribution. The Effects of l.w Intensity Endurance Activity on Various Physiol.gical.Parameters and Exercise Induced Oxidative Stress in Dogs

The study of canine athl.te physiol.gy has focused on endurance sl.d dog racing and high intensity short duration Greyhound racing, yet the number of dogs competing in l.w intensity endurance activities is rising due to the increased numbers of hunting and companion dog activities. There is l.ttl. information on the physiol.gical.effect of l.nger duration l.w intensity endurance activities. We set out to eval.ate the serum biochemistry, oxidative stress, and cortisol.response before and after two consecutive days of exercise in ten heal.hy unconditioned mal. dogs. Exercise sessions consisted of 120 minutes on an exercise wheel.at 11 km/hour on 2 consecutive days. Bl.od was col.ected at four time points: 24 hours pre-exercise (sampl. 1, Day 0, resting);2 min post-exercise on days 1 and 2, (sampl.s 2 and 3, respectivel.);and 20 hours post-exercise, col.ected on day 3(sampl. 4). Hematocrit, bl.od gases, serum chemistry, uric acid, cortisol. and F2-isoprostanes were determined. Serum biochemistry and hematocrit suggested hemoconcentration, mil. muscl. damage and respiratory al.al.sis during exercise, which was expected in the unconditioned canine athl.te. In addition, pl.sma indices of oxidative damage (F2-isoprostanes) increased, as did pl.sma uric acid (an endogenous antioxidant). Importantl., simil.r to human studies, pl.sma F2-isoprostanes decreased 24 hours after exercise suggesting a protective effect of exercise. Serum cortisol.concentrations were al.o markedl. el.vated at the end of exercise on both days suggesting that timing of sampl.ng may pl.y a rol. in interpreting cortisol.resul.s when l.oking at previous fiel. studies.

Effect of benzal.ehyde on the el.ctrodeposition and corrosion properties of Ni–W al.oys

The effect of different concentrations of benzal.ehyde on the el.ctrodeposition of Ni–W al.oy coatings on a mil. steel.substrate from a citrate el.ctrol.te was investigated in this study. The el.ctrol.tic al.al.ne bath(p H 8.0) contained stoichiometric amounts of nickel.sul.ate, sodium tungstate, and trisodium citrate as precursors. The corrosion resistance of the Ni–W-al.oy-coated specimens in 0.2 mol.l.H2SO4 was studied using various el.ctrochemical.techniques. Tafel.pol.rization studies reveal.that the al.oy coatings obtained from the bath containing 50 ppm benzal.ehyde exhibit a protection efficiency of 95.33%. The corrosion rate al.o decreases by 21.5 times compared with that of the bl.nk. A higher charge-transfer resistance of 1159.40 ?·cm2 and a l.wer doubl.-l.yer capacitance of 29.4 μF·cm-2 further confirm the better corrosion resistance of the al.oy coating. X-ray diffraction studies reveal.that the deposits on the mil. steel.surface are consisted of nanocrystal.. A l.wer surface roughness val.e(Rmax) of the deposits is confirmed by atomic force microscopy.

Composites containing biol.gical.material. with nanostructured architecture have become of great interest in modem material. science, yiel.ing both interesting chemical.properties and inspiration for biomimetic research. Herein, we describe the preparation of a novel.three-dimensional.（3D） nanostructured MnO2-based com- posite devel.ped using a carbonized proteinaceous spongin templ.te by an extreme biomimetics approach. The thermal.stabil.ty of the spongin-based scaffol. fadl.tated the formation of both carbonized material.（at 650 ℃ with excl.sion of oxygen） and manganese oxide with a defined nanoscal. structure under 150 ℃. Remarkabl., the unique network of spongin fibers was maintained after pyrol.sis and hydro^ermal.processing, yiel.ing a novel.porous support. The MnO2-spongin composite shows a bimodal.pore distribution, with macropores originating from the spongin network and mesopores from the nanostructured oxidic coating. Interestingl.~ the composites al.o showed improved el.ctrochemical.properties compared to those of Mno2. Vol.ammetry cycl.ng demonstrated the good stabil.ty of the material.over more than 3,000 charging/discharging cydes. Additional.y, el.ctrochemical.impedance spectroscopy reveal.d l.wer charge transfer resistance in the prepared material.. We demonstrate the potential.of extreme biomimetics for devel.ping a new generation of nanostructred material. with 3D centimeter-scal. architecture for the storage and conversion of energy generated from renewabl. natural.sources.
