AIM： To determine which IIRC scheme was used by retinoblastoma centers worldwide and the percentage of d eyes treated primarily with enucleation versus globe salvaging therapies as well as to correlate trends in treatment choice to IIRC version used and geographic region. METHOdS： An anonymized electronic survey was offered to 115 physicians at 39 retinoblastoma centers worldwide asking about IIRC classification schemes and treatment patterns used between 2008 and 2012. Participants were asked to record which version of the IIRC was used for classification, how many group d eyes were diagnosed, and how many eyes were treated with enucleation versus globe salvaging therapies. Averages of eyes per treatment modality were calculated and stratified by both IIRC version and geographic region. Statistical significance was determined by Chi-square, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests using Prism. RESULTS： The survey was completed by 29% of physicians invited to participate. Totally 1807 d eyes were diagnosed. Regarding IIRC system, 27% of centers used the Children＇s Hospital of Los Angeles （CHLA） version, 33% used the Children＇s Oncology Group （COG） version, 23% used the Philadelphia version, and 17% were unsure. The rate for primary enucleation varied between 0 and 100% and the mean was 29%. By IIRC version, primary enucleation rates were： Philadelphia, 8%; COG, 34%; and CHLA, 37%. By geographic region, primary enucleation rates were： Latin America, 57%; Asia, 40%; Europe, 36%; Africa, 10%, US, 8%; and Middle East, 8%. However, systemic chemoreduction was used more often than enucleation in all regions except Latin America with a mean of 57% per center （P〈0.0001）. CONCLUSION： Worldwide there is no consensus on which IIRC version is used, systemic chemoreduction was the most frequently used initial treatment during the study period followed by enucleation and primary treatment modality, especially enucleation, varied greatly with regards to IIRC version used and geographic r

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is classified into high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) and HPV (LR-HPV) according to their oncogenic potential. These viruses can be found in the cervix, vagina, vulva, anus and in the ENT sphere. HPV ENT infections can lead to benign or malignant tumors in which we could find both LR-HPV and HR-HPV genotypes. The objective of this study was to investigate the genotypes of HR-HPV and LR-HPV in archived tissue samples derived from both benign and malignant tumors of the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. One hundred and twenty formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded archived tissues of the ENT sphere from 26 benign tumors and 94 malignant tumors were included. The tissues were first deparaffinized with xylem. The extracted dNA was used to test for high-risk and low-risk HPV by Real-Time Multiplex PCR. HPV dNA was found in 57.7% (15/26) of benign tumors and 43.61% (41/94) of malignant tumors. The prevalence of HPV infection was 46.67% (56/120) in all tumors combined. The most common HPV genotypes found were HPV 11 (34.28%), HPV 6 (30%), HPV56 (14.28%) and HPV 33 (8.57%). There were 21.43% (12/56) cases of genotypes co-infections with 10 cases of double infection and 2 cases of triple infection. Both low-risk and high-risk HPV are found in ENT tumors with relatively high HPV prevalence.

Objective: The aim of this study was to characterize the polymorphisms of the dC-SIGN (-336 A/G, rs4804803) gene and their association with the immunopathogenicity of dengue fever in Burkina Faso. Methods: A total of three hundred forty-one subjects, patients of all ages have been included in the study: 208 persons presenting clinical signs of dengue fever which were confirmed by diagnostic and 133 Healthy Controls. Genotyping for the Cd209 variant (-336 A/G, rs4804803) was carried out using TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays. Haplotype frequencies were inferred and compared between the study groups. Results: The percentage of men was 61.88% (211/341) and 38.12% (130/341) for women. The highest frequency of dengue fever (77.42%) was noted in patients with age between 20 to 40 years. Around 1.52% of the study population was positive for HIV, 40.55% were carriers of HBV and 3.83% of HCV. Genotype distribution of the Cd209 variant (-336 A/G, rs4804803) was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both patients and controls. The frequency of allele A was higher than allele G;however, statistical analyses showed that there is no significant difference in genotypes GG, AG and AA in patients and controls. Conclusion: This related no significant association with dengue for the variant of ?336 A/G in the dC-SIGN gene in an Ouagadougou population. However, our results offered the SNP frequencies in a West African population, which might be useful for the study of ethnic groups.

Background: Renal artery pseudoaneurysms are rarely described sequelae of blunt abdominal trauma. Interventional radiological advances have allowed such lesions to be managed nonoperatively. Methods: The authors review the presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and hospital course of an 11- year-old girl who developed a right renal artery pseudoaneurysm 14 days after blunt abdominal trauma. Results: An 11- year-old girl fell off a horse onto her right flank. She sustainedmultiple right hepatic lobe lacerations and a complex fracture of the upper pole of the right kidney. Her initial hospital course was uncomplicated, and she was discharged after an uneventful 6- day course. The child did well for 2 weeks, until she developed right back pain and gross hematuria. A computed tomography scan revealed a right renal artery pseudoaneurysm. Angiography confirmed the presence of a pseudoaneurysm, which was fed by a single segmental branch originating from the renal artery. The artery was successfully occluded with a single platinum microcoil, which was demonstrated by the absence of contrast flow into the pseudoaneurysm. The patient recovered and was discharged shortly after the procedure. She initially had intermittent pain and hematuria, which resolved. Follow-up computed tomography scans have shown resolution of both the renal and hepatic lesions. Conclusions: Renal artery pseudoaneurysms that arise after blunt abdominal trauma in the pediatric population may be safely and effectively managed with arterial embolization, thereby avoiding extensive surgical interventions.

Background:Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEi)and angiotensin-II receptor blockers(ARB),the most commonly prescribed antihypertensive medications,counter renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system(RAAS)activation via induction of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)*** that ACE2 is the functional receptor for SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells,the association of ACEi and ARB with COVId-19 outcomes needs thorough ***:We conducted retrospective analyses using both unmatched and propensity score(PS)-matched cohorts on electronic health records(EHRs)to assess the impact of RAAS inhibitors on the risk of receiving invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV)and 30-day mortality among hospitalized COVId-19 ***,we investigated the immune cell gene expression profiles of hospitalized COVId-19 patients with prior use of antihypertensive treatments from an observational prospective ***:The retrospective analysis revealed that there was no increased risk associated with either ACEi or ARB *** fact,the use of ACEi showed decreased risk for *** analyses using PS-matched cohorts suggested no significant relationship between RAAS inhibitors with a hospital stay and in-hospital mortality compared to non-RAAS medications and patients not on antihypertensive *** the analysis of gene expression profiles,we observed a noticeable up-regulation in the expression of 1L1R2(an anti-inflammatory receptor)and RETN(an immunosuppressive marker)genes in monocytes among prior users of ACE ***:Overall,the findings do not support the discontinuation of ACEi or ARB treatment and suggest that ACEi may moderate the COVId-19 hyperinflammatory response.

Introduction: Genetic polymorphisms of some Glutathione S-Transferase (GST) which encode the enzyme responsible for the biotransformation of drugs and xenobiotics, have been associated with the risk of several pathologies that can progress to cancer such as Hepatitis B. This study aims to characterize the impact of the rs1695 polymorphism of GSTP1 gene among people with chronic Hepatitis B infection in Burkina Faso. Methods: rs1695 polymorphisms of GSTP1 gene genotyping was performed for 50 people infected with chronic Hepatitis B virus and 124 healthy people with the PCR-RFLP method. Conventional PCR was used for dNA amplification and Alw26I enzyme was used for enzymatic digestion. Results: The results show that the frequencies of AA, AG and GG genotypes are respectively 31.00%, 36.80% and 32.20% in general the study population with a mutation rate of 50.57%. However, the incidence of the AA, AG and GG genotypes are respectively 30.64%, 38.71% and 30.64% among people with chronic Hepatitis B virus infection and 32.00%, 32.00% and 36.00% among healthy people. In cases, the frequencies of the A and G alleles are 48.00% and 52.00% respectively, and in controls 50.00% each. No statistical difference was found by comparing genotypic and allelic frequencies between cases and controls (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Our study allowed us to determine the rate of GSTP1 rs1695 genotypes in the study population, cases and controls. From our analyses, GSTP1 rs1695 is not associated to chronic Hepatitis B virus infection in Ouagadougou.

This study focuses on the use of heavy fuel oil in construction in Burkina *** with silty and/or clay soil,it is used as a coating to reinforce the walls of raw soil constructions which are very sensitive to *** interest of this paper is to shed light on the thermomechanical and above all water effects of heavy fuel oil on a sample of silty clayey *** achieve this,we used heavy fuel oil added in different proportions to silty clayey soil,to make sample of bricks on which tests were carried *** the end of the experimental tests carried out on materials made(bricks)with our soil sample,it appears that heavy fuel oil moderately reduces the mechanical resistance of bricks and slightly increases thermal diffusion through *** the contrary,we note a very good water resistance of the bricks thanks to the heavy fuel oil,in particular their water absorption by *** confirms that the mixture of heavy fuel oil and a silty-clayey soil used as a coating makes it possible to prevent the infiltration of water into the walls of raw soil ***,its use as a construction material does not guarantee very good mechanical resistance,and slightly increases thermal diffusion.

背景心外手术过程中的高血压常难以控制，并进而影响手术疗效。氯维地平是一种新型的2-氢吡啶L型钙通道阻滞剂，可有效降低动脉压，起效迅速，且半衰期极短。氯维地平治疗围手术期高血压的安全性事件评估研究（evaluation of clevidipine in the perioperative treatment of hypertension assessing safety events trial, ECLIPSE）旨在比较氯维地平（CLV）与硝酸甘油（NTG）、硝普钠（SNP）、尼卡地平（NIC）治疗心外手术患者急性高血压的疗效与安全性。方法我们分析了3项前瞻性、随机、开放性平行对照研究的资料，这些研究由61家医疗中心参与完成，比较了氯维地平与硝酸甘油、硝普钠、尼卡地平在心外手术患者的围手术期应用情况。共选择1964例患者，1512例按临床标准需紧急治疗高血压，符合随机化纳入标准。这些患者按1：1比例随机编入3个平行的对比治疗组。主要结局为30天内的死亡事件、心肌梗死、中风和肾功能不全，次要结局为血压控制的充分性与精确度的评估报告。结果氯维地平组与其他治疗组相比，心肌梗死、中风和肾功能不全的发生率均无显著差异。硝普钠治疗组与氯维地平组相比，死亡例数显著增加（P=0．04）。与硝酸甘油（P=0．0006）和硝普钠（P=0．003）相比，氯维地平能更有效地把血压控制在预定范围内。在控制血压于一个预定范围方面氯维地平与尼卡地平等效，但当预定血压控制范围较窄时，氯维地平较尼卡地平超出范围的幅度更小。结论氯维地平用于治疗心外手术患者的急性高血压安全有效。
