The paramo,plays an important role in our ecosystems as They balance the water resources and can retain substantial quantities of carbon.This research was carried out in the province of Tungurahua,specifically the Quero district.The aim is to develop a classification of the land use land cover(LULC)in the paramo using satellite imagery using several classifiers and determine which one obtains the best performance,for which three different approaches were applied:Pixel-Based Image Analysis(PBIA),Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis(GEOBIA),and a Deep Neural Network(DNN).Various parameters were used,such as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI),the Bare Soil Index(BSI),texture,altitude,and slope.Seven classes were used:paramo,pasture,crops,herbaceous vegetation,urban,shrubrainland,and forestry plantations.The data was obtained with the help of onsite technical experts,using geo-referencing and reference maps.Among the models used the highest-ranked was DNN with an overall precision of 87.43%,while for the paramo class specifically,GEOBIA reached a precision of 95%.

Erectile dysfunction （ED） is considered a condition with a broad range of etiologies. Obstructive sleep apnea （OSA） syndrome is one of the lesser studied risk factors for ED. We intend to summarize the current evidence on the relationship between OSA and sexual impairment, focusing on the results in terms of erectile function of the different therapies offered to OSA patients. A systematic review was conducted, selecting articles related to the physiology of OSA and ED, and to the treatments of OSA syndrome and their reported outcomes in erectile and sexual function. Higher prevalences of ED in the OSA groups have been published. However, whether this effect on the erectile function occurs in the entire range of OSA severities remains unclear. Several hypotheses were proposed to explain the physiology of this association. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure as a treatment for OSA patients with ED has achieved a significative improvement in the sexual parameters in most of the studies. Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors （iPDE5） on demand are useful as a treatment for ED in this subgroup of patients, with high satisfaction rates. The surgical treatment for the OSA evidenced benefits over the erectile function, and the effect on the sexual satisfaction of the therapy using Mandibular Advancement Devices is still undefined.

Transformerless grid-connected inverters offer greater efficiencies when transferring power from renewable energy sources to the electrical grid.If the grid-inverter connection is done with an LCL filter,high attenuation of switching harmonics is achieved while preserving a small-size output filter.However,damping must be included in the controller to assure closed-loop stability.This paper proposes a reference computation methodology for the inverter-side current feedback in a photovoltaic(PV)generation system connected to the grid through an LCL filter.Theoretical analysis of the closed-loop system stability and of the steady-state performance are presented as well as experimental validation of the closed-loop performance.The feedback controller includes active damping and relies on a resonant control structure which improves the ability of dealing with grid harmonic distortion.The controller uses a reduced set of measurements,which requires the inverter-side current and grid voltage only,and assures a power factor close to unity.

Survival after pulmonary metastasectomy in colorectal cancer patients:does a history of resected liver metastases worsen the prognosis?A literature review

Objective: To assess the impact of past liver metastases on the survival duration of patients who are undergoing surgery for lung metastases.Methods: We conducted a review of literature published from 2007 to 2014. The studies were identified by searching Pub Med,MEDLINE, and Embase and were supplemented by a manual search of the references listed by the retrieved studies. The following search terms were used: lung metastasectomy, pulmonary metastasectomy, lung metastases, and lung metastasis. We selected retrospective and prospective studies published from 2007 to 2014 on patients with lung metastases from colorectal cancer and were undergoing surgery with curative intent. We excluded reviews, studies that focused on surgical techniques, patients who were treated non-surgically, analyses of specific subgroups of patients, and those that did not report follow-up of the patients undergoing surgery.results: We identified 28 papers that assessed survival after lung metastases, 21 of which were mostly retrospective studies that identified previous liver metastases to explore their impact on patient survival. In more than half of the papers analyzed(63.2%),patients with a history of resected liver metastases had a lower survival rate than those who did not have such a history, and the difference was statistically significant in eight of these studies. However, data were presented differently, and authors reported mean survival time, survival rates, or hazard ratios.Conclusions: A history of liver metastases seems to be a negative prognostic factor, but the individual data need to undergo a meta-analysis.

ZnO nanoparticles(ZnO-NP)present innovative optical,electrical,and magnetic properties that depend on spe-cific characteristics,e.g.,size,distribution,and morphology.Thus,these properties are essential to address various applications in areas such as electronics,medicine,energy,and others.In addition,the performance of this ZnO-NP depends of their preparation which can be done by chemical,physical,and biological methods.Meanwhile,nowadays,the main interest in developing ZnO-NP synthesis through biological methods bases on the decrease of use of toxic chemicals or energy applied to the procedures,making the process more cost-effective and environ-mentally friendly.However,the large-scale production of nanoparticles by green synthesis remains a big challenge due to the complexity of the biological extracts used in chemical reactions.That being the case,the preparation of ZnO-NP using Moringa oleifera extract as an alternative biological agent for capping and reduction in synthesis was evaluated in this work.Then,the results based on the analysis of the optical and structural characterization of the ZnO-NP obtained by employing UV-Vis,DLS,zeta potential,XrD,ATr-FTIr,and FE-SEM indicate mostly the presence of spherical nanosized material with a mean hydrodynamic diameter of 47.2 nm measured by DLS and a mean size diameter of 25 nm observed with FE-SEM technique.Furthermore,in FE-SEM images a homo-geneous dispersion and distribution is observed in the absence of agglutination,agglomeration,or generation of significant lumps of the ZnO-NP.The XrD analysis showed that heat annealing induced the crystallite size favor-ing their monocrystallinity.Those obtained data confirm the synthesis of ZnO-NP and the absence of impurities associated with organic compounds in the annealed samples.Finally,those results and low-cost production pre-sent to the synthesized ZnO-NP by this biological method as a useful material in several applications.

Tropical cyclone(TC)-related rainfall mostly depends on the atmospheric moisture uptake from local and remote sources.In this study,the mean water vapour residence time(MWVrT)was computed for precipitation related to TCs in each basin and on a global scale by applying a Lagrangian moisture source diagnostic method.According to our results,the highest MWVrT was found for the TCs over the South Indian Ocean and South Pacific Ocean basins(~3.08 days),followed by the Western North Pacific Ocean,Central and East North Pacific Ocean,North Indian Ocean,and North Atlantic Ocean basins(which exhibited values of 2.98,2.94,2.85,and 2.72 days,respectively).We also found a statistically significant(prease in MWVrT,at a rate of~2.4 h/decade in the North Indian Ocean and~1.0 h/decade in the remaining basins.On average,the MWVrT decreased during the 24 h before TCs made landfall,and the atmospheric parcels precipitated faster after evaporation when TCs moved over land than over the ocean.Further research should focus on the relationship between global warming and MWVrT of atmospheric parcels that precipitate over TC positions.

A Two-Player Coalition Cooperative Scheme for the Bodyguard Allocation Problem

We address the bodyguard allocation problem （BAP）, an optimization problem that illustrates the conflict of interest between two classes of processes with contradictory preferences within a distributed system. While a class of processes prefers to minimize its distance to a particular process called the root, the other class prefers to maximize it; at the same time, all the processes seek to build a communication spanning tree with the maximum social welfare. The two state-of-the-art algorithms for this problem always guarantee the generation of a spanning tree that satisfies a condition of Nash equilibrium in the system; however, such a tree does not necessarily produce the maximum social welfare. In this paper, we propose a two-player coalition cooperative scheme for BAP, which allows some processes to perturb or break a Nash equilibrium to find another one with a better social welfare. By using this cooperative scheme, we propose a new algorithm called FFC-BAPs for BAP. We present both theoretical and empirical analyses which show that this algorithm produces better quality approximate solutions than former algorithms for BAP.
