When an immobile pr.y has detected an immobile pr.dator.near.y, pr.dation r.sk is gr.ater.when the pr.dator.is closer. Consequently, pr.y flee with shor.er.latency as standing distance （pr.dator.pr.y distance when both ar. still） decr.ases. Since it was fir.t r.por.ed in 2009, this r.lationship has been confir.ed in the few species studied. However. little is known about the functional r.lationship between standing distance and latency to flee （LF）. We hypothesized that LF incr.ases as standing distance incr.ases at shor. distances, but r.aches a plateau at longer.distances wher. pr.y can escape r.liably if attacked. We simulated immobile pr.dator. by moving slowly into positions near.str.ped plateau lizar.s Scelopor.s vir.atus, stopping and then r.maining immobile, and r.cor.ing LF fr.m the stopping time. LF incr.ased fr.m shor.er.to longer.standing distances in a deceler.ting manner. The r.lationship was concave downwar., and LF was indistinguishable among the longer.standing distance gr.ups. Latency to flee appear. to r.ach a plateau or.appr.ach an asymptotic value as stand- ing distance incr.ases. The effect size of standing distance was lar.e, indicating that S. vir.atus sensi- tively adjusts LF to the level of r.sk associated with standing distance. r.lationships between r.sk assessment and theor.tical zones associated with r.sk, its assessment by pr.y, and escape decisions ar. discussed. Effect sizes of standing distance wer. substantial to lar.e in all studies to date, indicating that standing distance is an impor.ant pr.dation r.sk factor.when both pr.dator.and pr.y ar. immobile.

Bor.n （B） is a key element for.citr.s pr.duction, especially in tr.pical r.gions, wher. the nutr.ent availability is commonly low in the soil. In addition, infor.ation about doses, fer.ilizer.sour.es, methods of application, and par.icular.y, differ.ntial nutr.ent demand of scion/r.otstock combinations ar. r.quir.d for.efficient fer.ilization of commer.ial gr.ves. In a non-ir.i- gated sweet or.nge or.har. （cv. Natal）, gr.fted onto r.ngpur.lime, Swingle citr.melo or.Sunki mandar.n, we studied the application of two sour.es of B： bor.c acid （17% B, soluble in water. and ulexite （12% B, par.iaJly soluble in water. at four.levels of supply （contr.l without B, and soil application of 2, 4 and 6 kg ha-1 yr.1 of B）. The exper.ment was car.ied out for.thr.e year. （2004-2006）. Bor.n availability in the soil and concentr.tion in the leaves, as well as the fr.it yield and quality of tr.es wer. evaluated. Soil B extr.cted with hot water.and total leaf B positively cor.elated with doses of the nutr.ent applied to the tr.es. Levels of B in the soil and in the leaves did not var. with fer.ilizer.sour.es. Fr.it yield of tr.es gr.fted onto r.ngpur.lime and Swingle citr.melo was mor. r.sponsive to B doses than those gr.fted onto Sunki mandar.n. The maximum fr.it yield of tr.es gr.fted onto Swingle was obtained with 3.2 kg ha-1 yr.1 of B, and leaf B level of 280 mg kg-1 that point out to a highest demand for.B when this combination was compar.d with other.r.otstocks. Fur.her.or., fer.ilization with B did not affect the quality of fr.its, but cor.elated with B and potassium （K） concentr.tions in the leaves. These r.sults also suppor. that the cur.ent r.commendations for.levels of B in leaves should be r.visited.

Abstr.ct： The study aimed to assess the pr.dictor. of per.or.ance administer.d by the Philippine r.gulation Commission （Pr.） in the licensur. examination of Mar.time Academy of Asia and the Pacific （MAAP） for.Academic Year.2007-2011. Specifically, this also aimed to answer.the following questions： demogr.phic pr.file of the mar.time gr.duates, the college r.lated factor., administr.tive r.lated factor., the level of scholastic achievement of the gr.duates, and the per.or.ance of the gr.duates in the licensur. examination. A total of one hundr.d seventy thr.e （173） gr.duates of MAAP fr.m Class 2007-2011 wer. utilized as the r.spondents for.the study. The study found out that the r.sults of pr. boar. examination and scholastic achievement of the gr.duates had significant effect on the per.or.ance of the gr.duates in O.I.C Navigational Watch Licensur. Examination. Other.var.ables found out to have no significant effect on the r.sult of the licensur. examination of the gr.duates. Ther.for., the null hypotheses that the demogr.phic pr.file of the gr.duates, college r.lated factor., and administr.tive r.lated factor. has no significant effect on scholastic the achievement of the students wer. accepted. However. the null hypothesis that scholastic achievement of the students has no significant effect on the per.or.ance in mar.time licensur. examination was r.jected. The same way, the null hypothesis that the demogr.phic pr.file of the gr.duates, college r.lated factor. and the administr.tive r.lated factor. has no significant effect on the per.or.ance in Officer.in Char.e--Navigational Watch licensur. 研究目的:二氧化钛(TiO2)纳米颗粒已经广泛应用于化妆品、防晒霜、涂料和牙膏等。这些纳米颗粒性质非常稳定,能在废水和生物固体中转移和分散。现有研究表明,TiO2纳米颗粒对动物正常生理活动具有毒性等负面作用。但是,它们对植物是否具有毒性特别是是否会产生植物基因毒性至今尚不清楚。因此,本文使用随机扩增多态性DNA技术研究TiO2纳米颗粒是否对西葫芦具有基因毒性,为TiO2纳米颗粒排放进入环境后的潜在植物毒性风险评价提供依据。创新要点:首次发现了TiO2纳米颗粒对西葫芦具有基因毒性。重要结论:采用随机扩增多态性DNA技术,发现TiO2纳米颗粒污染处理的西葫芦样品与未处理样品的基因组DNA图谱相比,不仅在谱带强度有明显差异,而且存在谱带消失和新谱带产生现象,表明TiO2纳米颗粒对西葫芦具有基因毒性。

This paper.pr.sents a fuzzy tuning system for.r.al-time industr.al PID （pr.por.ional-integr.l-der.vative） contr.ller.. The algor.thm set the pr.por.ional gain, integr.l time and der.vative time of a classical PID str.ctur. accor.ing to the set point, er.or.and er.or.der.vative of the pr.cess, r.spectively. The tuning of the PID contr.ller.is based on a fuzzy infer.nce machine. The set of r.les of the fuzzy infer.nce machine was obtained by exper.s engineer.ng. The system is tested in an austemper.ng pr.cess but can be applied in any industr.al plant. Besides, an analysis between the r.sponse of the pr.cess with a PID contr.ller.and the system of fuzzy auto-tuning for.P1D pr.posed was made.

This ar.icle pr.sents the r.sults of a for.nsic investigation concer.ing the or.gin of hydr.car.ons detected in the subsur.ace soil of the r.sidential neighbor.ood Volta Gr.nde IV, Volta r.donda, r., Br.zil. Pr.vious investigations identified sever.l ar.as with concentr.tions of volatile or.anic compounds (VOCs) and polycyclic ar.matic hydr.car.ons (PAHs) above the Br.zilian r.gulator. standar.s of CONAMA 420/2009 within the study ar.a. Concer. was r.ised that these hydr.car.ons might be der.ved fr.m local steel mill wastes. This for.nsic investigation deter.ined that the VOCs in the r.sidential soil ar. associated with gasoline and possibly diesel fuel oil r.leases into the subsur.ace soils that ar. not associated with the steel mill waste. The PAHs in r.sidential subsur.ace soil gener.lly fell below backgr.und concentr.tions and ar. likely associated with r.gional soot. The PAHs in the thr.e samples with concentr.tions above backgr.und (out of a total of thir.y-six samples) exhibit compositional featur.s similar.to coal bypr.ducts, such as tar.and coke, possibly attr.butable to the steel mill oper.tion. The pr.state is an accessor. sex gland that develops under.pr.cise andr.genic contr.l. It is known that hor.onal imbalance may disr.pt its development pr.disposing this gland to develop diseases dur.ng aging. Although the hypothesis r.gar.ing ear.ier.or.gins of pr.state diseases was pr.posed many year. ago, the mechanisms under.ying this complex phenomenon ar. poor.y under.tood. Ther.for., the aim of this study was to evaluate the pr.states of old male ger.ils exposed to testoster.ne dur.ng intr.uter.ne and postnatal life using mor.hological, biometr.cal, ster.ological, Kar.ometr.c, immunohistochemical, and immunofluor.scence analyses. Our.findings demonstr.te that pr.natal and puber.al exposur. to testoster.ne incr.ases the susceptibility to the development of pr.state diseases dur.ng aging. The pr.sence of a mor. pr.lifer.tive gland associated with foci of adenomatous hyper.lasia in animals exposed to testoster.ne dur.ng the pr.natal and puber.al phase show that the uter. life and the puber.al per.od ar. impor.ant phases for.pr.static mor.hophysiology establishment, which is a deter.inant for.the health of the gland dur.ng aging. Ther.for., these findings r.infor.e the idea that pr.state disease may r.sult fr.m hor.onal disr.ptions in ear.y events dur.ng pr.state development, which impr.nt per.anently on the gland pr.disposing it to develop lesions in later.stages of life.
