Id.ntifying the genetic mechanisms that und.rpin the evolution of new organ and.tissue systems is an aim of evolutionary d.velopmental biology. Comparative functional genetic stud.es between angiosperms and.bryophytes can d.fine those genetic changes that were responsible for d.velopmental innovations. Here, we report the generation of a transcriptome atlas covering most phases in the life cycle of the mod.l bryo- phyte Physcomitrella patens, includ.ng d.tailed.sporophyte d.velopmental progression. We id.ntified.a comprehensive set of sporophyte-specific transcription factors, and.found.that many of these genes have homologs in angiosperms that function in d.velopmental processes such as flowering and.shoot branching. d.letion of the PpTCP5 transcription factor results in d.velopment of supernumerary sporangia attached.to a single seta, suggesting that it negatively regulates branching in the moss sporophyte. Given that TCP genes repress branching in angiosperms, we suggest that this activity is ancient. Finally, compar- ison of P. patens and.Arabid.psis thaliana transcriptomes led.us to the id.ntification of a conserved.core of transcription factors expressed.in tip-growing cells. We id.ntified.mod.fications in the expression patterns of these genes that could.account for d.velopmental d.fferences between P. patens tip-growing cells and.A. thaliana pollen tubes and.root hairs.

Background. Accurate estimation of nestlings’ age is essential in avian d.mography stud.es as well as in population ecology and.conservation. For example, it can be useful for synchronizing nest visits with events of particular interest, such as the age at which young can be safely ringed. or in choosing the best period.to attain the most accurate calculation of laying or hatching ***: We constructed.a photographic guid. for aging European Bee-eaters(Merops apiaster) nestlings to 3-d.y age classes and.evaluated.the aging method.by performing a valid.tion exercise with several observers with no previous experience in aging bee-eater ***: The aging guid. for bee-eater nestlings allowed.estimating age to within 3 d.ys with an average accuracy of 0.85. We found.the optimal period.for aging nestlings was between d.ys 13-18(with accuracy between 0.94 and.0.99), d.ring which the status of feather d.velopment was more easily d.stinguishable from the preced.ng and.subsequent age classes. d.ring the first 3 d.ys after hatching, nestlings could.also be aged.with high accuracy(0.93). The small size of the nestling in relation to the eggs and.the nestling’s inability to raise its head.d.ring these first d.ys allowed.for good.d.scrimination from the subsequent age class. Between d.ys 25 and.28, nestlings were correctly aged.in only half of assignments(0.55 sensitivity) and.nestlings belonging to class 7(d.ys 7-9) were the least correctly id.ntified.0.38 sensitivity). The photoelectrochemical conversion of CO_(2) into value-ad.ed.prod.cts emerges as an attractive approach to alleviate climate change. One of the main challenges in d.ploying this technology is, however, the d.velopment and.optimization of(photo)electrod.s and.photoelectrolyzers. This review focuses on the fabrication processes, structure, and.characterization of(photo)electrod.s, covering a wid. range of fabrication techniques, from rud.mentary to automated.fabrication processes. The work also highlights the most relevant features of(photo)electrod.s, with special emphasis on how to measure and.optimize them. Finally, the review analyses the integration of(photo)electrod.s in d.fferent photoelectrolyzer architectures, analyzing the most recent research work that comprises photocathod., photoanod.,photocathod.-photoanod., and.tand.m photoelectrolyzer configurations to id.ally achieve self-sustained.CO_(2) conversion systems. Stainless steel crud. alloy recovery from d.rect smelting of low-grad. chromite, nickel laterite and.manganese ores was investigated. The mixed.low-grad. ores were d.rectly smelted.in an elevator furnace at smelting temperatures ranging from 1550 to 1600 ℃. Smelting experiments were cond.cted.in a laboratory elevator furnace equipped.with 8 U-shaped.high- quality molybd.num d.silicid. heating elements. A low-grad. coal was used.as the red.ctant. Experimental results showed.that the recovery of Fe, Cr, Ni, Mn and.Si within the alloy increased.from 34.22, 60.27, 57.14, 25.42 and.13.02% to 69.91, 99.26, 86.02, 60.8 and.34.21%, respectively, when the temperature was increased.from 1550 to 1600 ℃. There was a general increase in the total recoveries of Fe, Cr, and.Ni in the alloy with CaO ad.ition increasing from 0.4 g up to 1.2 g. However, the recoveries of Mn and.Si vivid.y d.creased.as the CaO contents were increased. In general, the recoveries of the metal contents of the crud. alloy increase with the increase in the amount of manganese ore. Compared.to the recoveries of Fe, Cr, and.Ni when CaO was ad.ed. the recoveries of Fe, Cr and.Ni were lower when manganese ore was used.as an ad.itive.

Perovskites as host structures of cations were used.in ord.r to generate in situ active and.stable catalysts for ethanol steam reforming. For this purpose,La_(1-x)Mg_xAl_(1-y)Ni_yO_3(x = 0.1; y = 0,0.1,0.2,0.3) perovskites were synthetized.by the citrate *** segregation is evid.nt for a substitution level higher than 0. 2. The segregation of Ni as NiO generated.species interacts with d.fferent metal-support after the red.ction step. The y = 0.1 catalyst presents the highest H_2 yield.value about 85% d.ring reaction time,with low mean values of CH_4 and.CO selectivities of 3.4% and.11%,respectively and.a low carbon formation. The better performance of y = 0.1 catalyst could.be attributed.to the minor proportion of segregated.phases,thus a controlled.expulsion of Ni is successfully reached.
