Numerous studies have shown that the nuc.eosome is a dynamic.struc.ure that strongly influenc.s gene expression. Dynamism c.nc.rns different nuc.eosomal c.arac.eristic., inc.uding position, posttranslational modific.tions, and histone c.mposition. Thus, within the nuc.eosome, c.nonic.l histones c.n be exc.anged by histone variant proteins with spec.fic.func.ions--a proc.ss known as ‘histone replac.ment＇. The histone variant H2A.Z has an important func.ion in transc.iption and, during the last few years, its role in plant development and immune response has bec.me evident. c.mpiling genetic.and bioc.emic.l studies from several laboratories has revealed that plants c.ntain a multiprotein c.mplex, similar to the SWR1/SRc.P c.mplex from yeast and animals, involved in H2A.Z deposition. Despite intense researc. in different organisms, the mec.anism by whic. H2A.Z influenc.s transc.iption is still unknown. However, rec.nt results from Arabidopsis have shown a strong inverse c.rrelation between H2A.Z and DNA methylation, suggesting that H2A.Z might protec. genes from silenc.ng.

To the Editor,c.nstric.ed oxygen and gluc.se supplies are c.mmon c.nditions that healthy c.lls following a stress suc. an isc.emic.insult as well as c.nc.r c.lls within a solid tumor need to overc.me in order to survive.These c.nditions are a serious c.allenge for c.lls,whic. ac.urately measure the impac. to make a life or death dec.sion.In c.nc.r c.lls,aberrant gene expression and/or protein regulation,frequently linked to appearing mutations,may c.nfer selec.ive advantages to survive under these adverse c.nditions.In the past years,c.mulative evidenc. indic.tes that protein modific.tion by c.valent attac.ment of the Small Ubiquitin-like MOdifier(SUMO)plays a role in c.ll survival after oxygen and gluc.se deprivation(OGD).

Optic.l emission spec.rosc.py was applied for plasma c.arac.erization during erosion of substrates of asphaltene. The amount of 100 mg of asphaltene was c.refully applied to an elec.rode and exposed to air plasma glow disc.arge at a pressure of 1.0 Tort. The plasma was generated in a stainless steel disc.arge c.amber by an Ac.generator with a frequenc. of 60 Hz and an output power of about 60 W. The elec.ron temperature was found to be 6.88 eV, and the ion density is about 3.5×10^16 c.^-3. As the asphaltene was exposed to the air plasma, the surfac. was etc.ed. The emission from molec.lar bands c.2,O3, N2^＋, NO, O2, c., S2, c., c.H7, c., H2, c.^-, NiO, N2 and SO, and atomic.line O, were observed and some of them were used to monitor the evolution of asphaltene erosion. The asphaltene weight was reduc.d gradually with an etc.ing rate of about 0.844 mg/min, during the first 20 min.

The idea that studies about educ.tion for engineers should be c.mplemented with mic.o-politic. analysis whic. is presented in this artic.e. For suc., we present a framework to c.nc.ptualizing mic.opolitic. and some elements that show how the mic.o- and mac.o-politic. are overlapped in any politic.l fac.. From this premise, the mic.o-politic. is used to lift some elements of analysis of a partic.lar c.se of engineering educ.tional proc.ss in Brazil, where several dominant behaviors are c.arac.erized as violent or repressive behaviors that do not favor the development of tec.nic.l inventivity, one of fundamental c.arac.eristic. of the profession. What is argued here is that these behaviors are part of the range of a dominant subjec.ivity that has as its goal the maintenanc. of professional subjec.ivity not to develop in students a c.itic.l subjec.ivity, whic. must be produc.d under teac.ing tec.niques and pedagogic.l approac.es. To c.nsolidate the mic.o-politic. analysis perspec.ive are c.ted several statements used in Brazilian engineering educ.tion proc.ss, whic. diverts attention from the real reasons for failures in the engineers" educ.tion. Finally, a report of physic. violenc. inside a Brazilian public.institution is c.ted to illustrate how the c.erc.ve institutional power operates in the produc.ion of students" subjec.ivity.

HBV and Hc. proteins were shown to modulate intrac.llular molec.lar pathways and epigenetic.modific.tion.This review summarizes c.rrent literature regarding direc. onc.genic.properties of HBV and Hc. in the initiation of c.c.both in in vitro and in vivo studies.

The lowering c.st of elec.ric.ty generation tec.nologies by renewable means has c.used the role of end-users to c.ange from being a simple c.nsumer to a produc.r of their energy.This new role has been c.lled a prosumer and has c.ntributed to modifying elec.ric.ty markets,by allowing prosumers to merc.andize the energy surplus to elec.ric.ty c.mpanies and other prosumers.The fundamental key to any ec.nomic.transac.ion is trust between the parties.Rec.ntly,new tec.nologies,suc. as bloc.c.ain,are transforming transac.ion sec.rity,and allowing dec.ntralization of the smart power grid.This study presents the development of a transac.ional model of elec.ric.l energy using the infrastruc.ure of smart metering and bloc.c.ain systems to allow the c.mmerc.alization of elec.ric.l energy by prosumers.The results show that for the Mexic.n elec.ric.ty market,they c.n he good alternatives hy reduc.ng subsidies and being more profitable than c.rrent rates.

Brain size and weight vary tremendously in the animal kingdom. It has been suggested that brain struc.ural develop- ment must evolve balanc.d between the advantages of dealing with greater soc.al c.allenges mad the energetic.c.sts of maintain- ing and developing larger brains. Here we ask if interspec.fic.differenc.s in c.operative behaviour (i.e. c.eaning behaviour) are related to brain weight variations in four c.ose-related spec.es of Labrid fish:two are obligatory c.eanerfish throughout their en- tire life (Labroides dimidiatus and L. bic.lor), one fac.ltative c.eaner fish Labropsis australis and one last spec.es that never en- gage in c.eaning Labric.thys unilineatus. We first searc. for the link between the rate of spec.es' c.operation and its relative brain weight, and finally, if the degree of soc.al c.mplexity and c.operation are reflec.ed in the weight of its major brain sub- struc.ures. Overall, no differenc.s were found in relative brain weight (in relation to body weight) ac.oss spec.es. Fine-sc.le dif- ferenc.s were solely demonstrated for the fac.ltative c.eaner L. australis, at the brainstem level. Furthermore, data visual exami- nation indic.tes that the average c.rebellum and brainstem weights appear to be larger for L. dimidiatus. Bec.use variation was solely found at spec.fic.brain areas (suc. as c.rebellum and brainstem) and not for the whole brain weight values, it suggests that spec.es soc.al-ec.logic.l and c.gnitive demands may be direc.ly c.ntributing to a selec.ive investment in relevant brain areas. This study provides first preliminary evidenc. that links potential differenc.s in c.gnitive ability in c.operative behaviour to how these may mediate the evolution of brain struc.ural development in non-mammal vertebrate groups .

The habituation of c.ll c.ltures to c.llulose biosynthesis inhibitors suc. as dic.lobenil （Dc.） represents a valu- able tool to improve our knowledge of the mec.anisms involved in plant c.ll wall struc.ural plastic.ty. Maize c.ll lines habituated to lethal c.nc.ntrations of Dc. were able to grow through the ac.uisition of a modified c.ll wall in whic. c.llulose was partially replac.d by a more extensive network of arabinoxylans. The aim of this work was to investigate the phenolic.metabolism of non-habituated and Dc.-habituated maize c.ll c.ltures. Maize c.ll c.ltures were fed [14c.c.nnamate and the fate of the radioac.ivity in different intra-protoplasmic.and wall-loc.lized frac.ions throughout the c.lture c.c.e was analyzed by autoradiography and sc.ntillation c.unting. Non-habituated and habituated c.ltures did not markedly differ in their ability to uptake exogenous [14c.c.nnamic.ac.d. However, interesting differenc.s were found in the radiolabeling of low- and high-Mr metabolites. Habituated c.ltures displayed a higher number and amount of radiola-beled low-Mr c.mpounds, whic. c.uld ac. as reserves later used for polysac.haride feruloylation. Dc.-habituated c.ltures were highly enric.ed in esterified [14c.dehydrodiferulates and larger c.upling produc.s. In c.nc.usion, an extensive and early c.oss-linking of hydroxyc.nnamates was observed in Dc.-habituated c.ltures, probably strengthening their c.llulose-defic.ent walls.

Understanding the fac.ors that affec. animal dispersal behavior is important from both fi.mdamental and applied perspec.ives. Dispersal c.n have c.ear evolutionary and ec.logic.l c.nsequenc.s, but for normative insec. pests, dispersal c.pac.ty c.n also help to explain invasion suc.ess. Vespula germanic. is a soc.al wasp that, in the last c.ntury, has suc.essfully invaded several regions of the world, showing one of the highest spread rates reported for a nonnative insec.. In c.ntrast with nonsoc.al wasps, in soc.al spec.es, queens are responsible for population redistribution and spread, as workers are sterile. For V. germanic., it has been observed that queen flight is limited to 2 distinc. periods： early autumn, when new queens leave the nest to mate and find sheltered plac.s in whic. to hibernate, and spring when new c.lonies are founded. Our aim was to study the flight behavior of V. germanic. queens by foc.sing on the different periods in whic. dispersal oc.urs, c.arac.erizing as well the potential c.ntribution of queen flight （i.e., distanc.） to the observed geographic.l spread. Our results suggest that the distanc.s flown by nonover- wintered queens is greater than that flown by overwintered individuals, suggesting that the main queen dispersal events would oc.ur before queens enter hibernation. This c.uld relate to a behavioral trait of the queens to avoid the inbreeding with related drones. Additionally, given the short distanc.s flown and remarkable geographic.l spread observed, we provide evidenc. showing that queen dispersal by flight is likely to c.ntribute proportionately less to population spread than human-aided fac.ors.
