During the last decades the concept of bile secretion as merely a way to add detergent components to the intestinal mixture to facilitate fat digestion/absorption and to eliminate side products of heine metabolism has evolved considerably. In the series of mini-reviews that the World Journal of Gastroenterology is to publish in its section of ＂Highlight Topics＇; we will intend to give a brief but updated overview of our knowledge in this field. This introductory letter is intended to thank all scientists who have contributed to the development of this area of knowledge in gastroenterology.

Eu^3＋ was incorporated as probe ions into nanocomposite glasses, such as metal silver doped phosphate glass and crystalline nanocomposites Si-enriched SiO2 glass. Luminescence studies show that the doped europium ions are present as trivalent Eu^3＋ , and are distributed in the matrix on the boundary surface of nanoparticles. The valence switching from Eu^3＋ to Eu^2＋ was observed in Si-SiO2 nanocomposites when ultrafast laser excitation was applied. In silver metal nan-oparticles embedded aluminophosphate glass, a time-resolved ultrafast degenerate-four-wave-mixing （DFWM） experiment shows enhanced third-order nonlinearity at zero-delay time, followed by a bell-like signal buildup. It is attributed to the creation of electronic polaron and vibronic Wannier-Mott exciton （WME）. In europium codoped sample, however, the bell-like signal is depressed. All the above observations are interpreted as the result of a strong Coulomb interaction between conduction electrons produced inside the nanoparticles by laser excitation and Eu^3＋ ions residing near the surface. The trivalent europium ions play the role as positive boundary charges attracting electrons. This results in temporary formation of Eu^2＋ , and blocks the resonant tunneling transition in the silver-glass system to avoid creating large radius polaron.

This study was conducted to identify the origin, hydrogeochemical processes and evolution of groundwater in a tectonic valley. This study was carried out with the aim of quantifying the proportions of groundwater flows contributing to the water chemistry abstracted in a zone of convergence favored by the presence of active faults. The study area is located in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. End members methodology was applied to identify the mixing of hydrothermal with fresh groundwater, where changes in the aquifer geology result in distinct groundwater chemical signatures. Ternary mixing was quantified using conservative elements. Moreover, other evolutionary processes, such as ion exchange and silicate weathering occur due to changes in the geology of the area. In ternary mixing, each of the end members is associated with the lithology through which it circulates. The local flow contributes 70% of the water to the system, the intermediate flow contributes 14%, and the regional flow contributes 16%. Three types of water are produced: na-HCO3, due to the interaction of water with volcanic rocks of rhyolitic composition, na-Mg-HCO3, due to the interaction of water with volcanic rocks of basaltic-andesite composition, and Ca-HCO3, due to the interaction of water with sedimentary calcareous rocks.

Since indoor clothing insulation is a key element in thermal comfort models,the aim of the present study is proposing an approach for predicting it,which could assist the occupants of a building in terms of recommendations regarding their *** that,a systematic analysis of input variables is exposed,and 13 regression and 12 classification machine learning algorithms were developed and *** results are based on data from 3352 questionnaires and 21 input variables from a field study in mixed-mode office buildings in *** temperature at 6 a.m.,indoor air temperature,indoor relative humidity,comfort temperature and gender were the most relevant features for predicting clothing *** comparing machine learning algorithms,decision tree-based algorithms with Boosting techniques achieved the best *** proposed model provides an efficient method for forecasting the clothing insulation level and its application would entail optimising thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

The deleterious innate attribute of Ti6 Al4 V, the workhorse material among the alloy series of titanium is its incompetent tribo-behavior. Infinite surface modification techniques, viz., the accretion of adherent appendage layers, diffusion hardening, infusion of residual stresses, microstructural evolution, and phase transformations were attempted to enhance the wear resistance of the alloy. The need lies to establish a bridge between the indigenous material properties and the tribo-characteristics of Ti6 Al4 V so that the enforced improvement techniques can raise the barriers of its applicability. A critical review of the microstructural transitions, mechanisms governing tribo-behavior and the parametric conditions leading to material removal at dry sliding conditions of Ti6 Al4 V, falls under the scope of this manuscript. Hence, the prime focus of the approach is to impart a clear-cut perception of the minute variations in mechanical, metallurgical, and tribological characteristics of the alloy at interactive instances with distinct counter-body surfaces.

AIM:To compare the response to skin prick tests (SPTs) to food antigens (FAs) and inhalant allergens (IAs) in patients with two subtypes of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and healthy controls. METHODS:We compared the results of SPTs for IAs and FAs in 87 volunteers divided into three groups:diarrhea predominant IBS (D-IBS) GroupⅠ(n = 19), constipation predominant IBS (C-IBS) Group Ⅱ (n = 17), and normal controls Group Ⅲ (n = 51). RESULTS:Of the 285 tests (171 for FAs and 114 for IAs) performed in GroupⅠwe obtained 45 (26.3%) positive responses for FA and 23 (20.1%) for IA. Of the 153 tests for FA in Group Ⅱ, we obtained 66 (20.1%) positive responses, and of the 102 tests for IA, we obtained 20 (19.6%) positive responses. Of the 459 tests for FA performed in Group Ⅲ, we obtained 39 (84%) positive responses, and of the 306 for IA, we obtained 52 (16.9%) positive responses. The numbers of positive responses were not significantly different between the three groups, but in the D-IBS group, the number of SPTFA responses differed significantly from those for the other two groups (P nCLUSIOn:Despite the small number of cases studied, the higher reactivity to FAs in GroupⅠcompared to Groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ adds new information, and suggests the presence of a possible alteration in intestinal epithelial function.

The application of organic photocatalysts towards the oxidation of pollutants in water is hampered by different limitations such as their insolubility in the ***,we report that the grafting of a photoorganocatalyst into mesoporous silica materials is an ideal approach to obtain effective ***,the photocatalyst 10-phenylphenothiazine(PTH)was easily anchored into three different mesoporous silica-based materials(MSn,MSU-2 and SBA-15)with different particle sizes and pore sizes through an amide bond *** materials were characterized using IR analysis,solid-state X-ray diffraction,porosity and microscopy(SEM and TEM)techniques,showing that PTH is immobilized inside the pores of the materials and its optical properties are maintained after the *** homogeneous PTH was inactive in water media,the three photocatalytic materials were active for the degradation of ***-15-AP-PTH exhibited the highest catalytic performance towards the degradation of acetaminophen and diclofenac under solar irradiation,finding in this manner a new strategy for the decontamination of pollutants.

AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Chlorella in 18 patients chronically infected with hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotype ***:Eighteen adults with chronic infection by HCV genotype 1 received daily oral supplementation of Chlorella for 12 *** in the RnA levels of HCV,as well as those of aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) levels were evaluated following this treatment *** t tests were conducted to compare the means of the different variables at the beginning and end of the *** effects and quality of life aspects were also compared between weeks 0 and 12 of the study ***:A majority 84.61% of the patients had a significant decrease in their ALT levels from week 0 to week *** of side effects showed that Chlorella was well *** of life assessment showed that 76.9 of the participants reported an improvement in their energy levels and 46.1% reported an improvement in their perception of general *** 69.23% also showed a decrease in their AST levels,this was not statistically *** patients that exhibited an improvement in their ALT and AST levels also showed a tendency toward a decreased HCV viral *** HCV RnA levels showed a decrease in 69.23% of the patients,which along with changes in AST/ALT ratios from week 0 to week 12,these results were not statistically ***:Chlorella supplementation was well tolerated in patients with chronic HCV and associated with a significant decrease in ALT liver enzyme levels.

Treatment of chronic pancreatitis has been exclusively surgical for a long time. Recently, endoscopic therapy has become widely used as a primary therapeutic option. Initially performed for drainage of pancreatic cysts and pseudocysts, endoscopic treatments were adapted to biliary and pancreatic ducts stenosis. Pancreatic sphincterotomy which allows access to pancreatic ducts was firstly reported. Secondly, endoscopic methods of stenting, dilatation, and stones extraction of the bile ducts were applied to pancreatic ducts. nevertheless, new improvements were necessary： failures of pancreatic stone extraction justified the development of extra-corporeal shock wave lithotripsy; dilatation of pancreatic stenosis was improved by forage with a new device; moreover endosonography allowed guidance for celiac block, gastro-cystostomy, duodeno-cystostomy and pancreatico-gastrostomy. Although endoscopic treatments are more and more frequently accepted, indications are still debated.
