Critical evaluation of transit policies in Lima,Peru;resilience of rail rapid transit(Metro)in a developing country

This paper evaluates rail transit within the context of the transit policies implemented in Lima,*** it reviews the implementation of rapid transit,and bus ***,it evaluates the outcomes of such policies by using Total Factor Productivity for policy effectiveness,Data Envelopment Analysis for rapid transit performance,and Generalized Cost of Travel for *** paper finds that implementation failed in enforcing key requirements for rail transit regarding penetration of CBD and short transfers to bus transit;and that the basic assumptions of bus reform did not hold regarding bus oversupply,bus congestion or bus *** paper also finds that outcomes of policies failed dramatically in achieving the planning goals;however,rail transit(Metro)shows high level of resilience in serving large ridership at high *** the other hand,bus reform was associated with a disproportionate increase of motorization,well over the effect of income growth or car attractiveness,and more related to the excessive reduction of bus transit capacity ill-advised from unproved bus reform *** paper recommends expanding rail rapid transit due to its intensive use of green renewable energy and its potential of demand growth if combined with modern Intelligent Transportation services,but this opportunity can be wasted without the proposed policy constraint to achieve lower Generalized Cost of Travel at any governmental intervention for bus reform,instead of just reducing bus transit capacity as ***,this paper recommends government to government contracts to build rail transit and to enforce proper planning.

Analyzing the multilevel structure of the European airport network

The multilayered structure of the European airport network（EAn）,composed of connections and flights between European cities,is analyzed through the k-core decomposition of the connections *** decomposition allows to identify the core,bridge and periphery layers of the *** core layer includes the best-connected cities,which include important business air traffic *** periphery layer includes cities with lesser connections,which serve low populated areas where air travel is an economic *** remaining cities form the bridge of the EAn,including important leisure travel origins and *** multilayered structure of the EAn affects network robustness,as the EAn is more robust to isolation of nodes of the core,than to the isolation of a combination of core and bridge nodes.

In Silico Pipeline to Identify Tumor‑Specific Antigens for Cancer Immunotherapy Using Exome Sequencing Data

Tumor-specific antigens or neoantigens are peptides that are expressed only in cancer cells and not in healthy *** of these molecules can induce an immune response,and therefore,their use in immunotherapeutic strategies based on cancer vaccines has been extensively *** based on these approaches have been triggered by the current high-throughput DnA sequencing ***,there is no universal nor straightforward bioinformatic protocol to discover neoan-tigens using DnA sequencing ***,we propose a bioinformatic protocol to detect tumor-specific antigens associated with single nucleotide variants(SnVs)or“mutations”in tumoral *** this purpose,we used publicly available data to build our model,including exome sequencing data from colorectal cancer and healthy cells obtained from a single case,as well as frequent human leukocyte antigen(HLA)class I alleles in a specific *** data from Costa Rican Central Valley population was selected as an *** strategy included three main steps:(1)pre-processing of sequencing data;(2)variant calling analysis to detect tumor-specific SnVs in comparison with healthy tissue;and(3)prediction and characterization of peptides(protein fragments,the tumor-specific antigens)derived from the variants,in the context of their affinity with frequent alleles of the selected *** our model data,we found 28 non-silent SnVs,present in 17 genes in chromosome *** protocol yielded 23 strong binders peptides derived from the SnVs for frequent HLA class I alleles for the Costa Rican *** the analyses were performed as an example to implement the pipeline,to our knowledge,this is the first study of an in silico cancer vaccine using DnA sequencing data in the context of the HLA *** is concluded that the standardized protocol was not only able to identify neoantigens in a specific but also provides a complete pipeline for the eventual design of cancer vaccines using

THE SWI/SnF COMPLEXESIn plants, as well as in metazoans, the execution of devel- opmental programs and the response to environmental stimuli depend on changes in gene transcription programs that require extensive chromatin modifications of basically two types： posttranslational modification of histones and ATP-dependent reorganization of histones-DnA interac- tions. Many different nuclear machineries are necessary to carry out chromatin modifications at the appropriate time and place.

Design optimization of multilayer perceptron neural network by ant colony optimization applied to engine emissions data

A multilayer perceptron(MLP) artificial neural network(Ann) model has been optimized by the multi-objective ant colony optimization(MOACO) algorithm, which uses three objective functions. A sensitivity analysis to choose MOACO parameter values is carried out by calculating hypervolume metric, and the proposed approach adopts the Vlsekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje(VIKOR) decision method to choose final compromised solution on the Pareto front obtained from MOACO. As a result, we used the MLP-MOACO developed model to estimate the value of engine emissions of nOxin a four stroke, spark ignition(SI) gasoline engine and observed acceptable correlation coefficient(R^2) of 0.99978.

A PREDICTOR MODIFICATIOn TO THE EBDF METHOD FOR STIFF SYSTEMS

In this paper we modify the EBDF method using the nDFs as predictors instead of BDFs. This modification, that we call EnDF, implies the local truncation error being smaller than in the EBDF method without losing too much stability. We will also introduce two more changes, called EnBDF and EBnDF methods. In the first one, the nDF method is used as the first predictor and the BDF as the second predictor. In the EBnDF, the BDF is the first predictor and the nDF is the second one. In both modifications the local truncation error is smaller than in the EBDF. Moreover, the EBnDF method has a larger stability region than the EBDF.

Phenotypic plasticity in Drosophila cactophilic species the effect of competition, density, and breeding sites

Changes in the environmental conditions experienced by naturally occurring populations are frequently accompanied by changes in adaptive traits allowing the organ- ism to cope with environmental unpredictability. Phenotypic plasticity is a major aspect of adaptation and it has been involved in population dynamics of interacting species. In this study, phenotypic plasticity （i,e., environmental sensitivity） of morphological adap- tive traits were analyzed in the cactophilic species Drosophila buzzatii and Drosophila koepferae （Diptera： Drosophilidae） considering the effect of crowding conditions （low and high density）, type of competition （intraspecific and interspecific competition） and cacti hosts （Opuntia and Columnar cacti）. All traits （wing length, wing width, thorax length, wing loading and wing aspect） showed significant variation for each environmental factor considered in both Drosophila species. The phenotypic plasticity pattern observed for each trait was different within and between these cactopbilic Drosophila species depending on the environmental factor analyzed suggesting that body size-related traits respond almost independently to environmental heterogeneity. The effects of ecological factors analyzed in this study are discussed in order to elucidate the causal factors investigated （type of com- petition, crowding conditions and alternative host） affecting the election of the breeding site and/or the range of distribution of these cactophilic species.

Segment boundaries of the adult rat epididymis limit interstitial signaling by potential paracrine factors and segments lose differential gene expression after efferent duct ligation

The epididymis is divided into caput, corpus and cauda regions, organized into intraregional segments separated by connective tissue septa （CTS）. In the adult rat and mouse these segments are highly differentiated. Regulation of these segments is by endocrine, lumicrine and paracrine factors, the relative importance of which remains under investigation. Here, the ability of the CTS to limit signaling in the interstitial compartment is reviewed as is the effect of 15 days of unilateral efferent duct ligation （EDL） on ipsilateral segmental transcriptional profiles. Inter-segmental microperifusions of epidermal growth factor （EGF）, vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGFA） and fibroblast growth factor 2 （FGF2） increased phosphorylation of mitogen activated protein kinase （MAPK） in segments 1 and 2 of the rat epididymis and the effects of all factors were limited by the CTS separating the segments. Microan＇ay analysis of segmental gene expression determined the effect of 15 days of unilateral EDL on the transcriptome-wide gene expression of rat segments 1-4. Over 11 000 genes were expressed in each of the four segments and over 2 000 transcripts in segment 1 responded to deprivation of testicular lumicrine factors. Segments 1 and 2 of control tissues were the most transcriptionally different and EDL had its greatest effects there. In the absence of lumicrine factors, all four segments regressed to a transcriptionally undifferentiated state, consistent with the less differentiated histology. Deprivation of lumicrine factors could stimulate an individual gene＇s expression in some segments yet suppress it in others. Such results reveal a higher complexity of the regulation of rat epididymal segments than that is generally appreciated. （Asian J Androl 2007 July; 9： 565-573）
