AIM:To validate high definition endoscopes with Fujinon intelligent chromoendoscopy(FICe) in ***:The image quality of normal white light endoscopy(WLe),that of the 10 available FICe filters and that of a gold standard(0.2% indigo carmine dye) were ***:FICe-filter 4 [red,green,and blue(RGB) wavelengths of 520,500,and 405 nm,respectively] provided the best images for evaluating the vascular pattern compared to white *** mucosal surface was best assessed using filter ***,the views obtained were not rated significantly better than those observed with white *** "gold standard",indigo carmine(IC) dye,was found to be superior to both white light and filter *** 6(RGB wavelengths of 580,520,and 460 nm,respectively) allowed for exploration of the IC-stained *** assessing mucosal polyps,both FICe with magnification,and magnification following dye spraying were superior to the same techniques without magnification and to white light *** the presence of suboptimal bowel preparation,observation with the FICe mode was possible,and endoscopists considered it to be superior to observation with white ***:FICe-filter 4 with magnification improves the image quality of the colonic vascular patterns obtained with WLe.

AIM:To test a strategy for endoscopic submucosal dissection(eSD) training in animal models designed to overcome the initial learning ***:eSD was attempted in ex vivo and in vivo pig *** eSD procedures were attempted in the esophagus(n=9) or the stomach(n=21).The ex vivo model was used until initial competence was *** the in vivo model,several eSD procedures were performed in up to 3 *** following variables were analyzed:specimen size,complete and en bloc resection rate,time for circumferential incision,time for submucosal dissection,total eSD duration,and ***:Complete resection was achieved in 28 cases(en bloc 27);2 could not be completed(one perforation,one technical diff iculty).The mean ± SD time for circumferential incision was 36.2±16.8 min(range:8-87 min),and the mean±SD time for submucosal dissection was 45.1±35.7 min(range:9-196 min).The mean±SD size of the resected specimens was 45.2±17.8 *** mean±SD total resection time was signif icantly increased for the gastric cases performed in the f irst half of the study(n=13) than in the second half(n=8)(98.9±62.4 min vs 61.7±17.6 min,P=0.04),although the specimen size did not ***:Training in animal models could help endoscopists overcome the learning curve before starting eSD in humans.

Simulation of Biogas Production from Solid Organic Wastes

The design and building of new alternative fuel plants is an increasing necessity to replace old technology and non-renewable fossil fuels. To optimize the performance of these plants and to obtain an economically feasible production of these types of fuels, it is necessary to have a total control of each variable involved in the process of production and how these factors affect the yield of fuel production. In this paper it is proposed a model of a digester to generate gas using a Vensim software designed to generate simulations in dynamic state. This simulation was developed using differential equations to model the behavior at each stage of the process and auxiliary conditions to complement the mathematical description of the model. The main factors in the biogas production are the retention time and the methanogen mortality ratio. For retention time lower than 10 h the process loses effectiveness due to bacterial growth is not completed efficiently, but a high retention time involves a bigger reactor and the yield of production decreases considerably for retention time higher than 40 h. The best yields were obtained for a mortality ratio in methanogen and acidogenic bacteria lower than 0.2 and a retention time of 30 h with a final production of 3.33 L by each kilogram of biomass.

Application of formal languages in polynomial transformations of instances between NP-complete problems

We propose the usage of formal languages for expressing instances of NP-complete problems for their application in polynomial transformations. The proposed approach, which consists of using formal language theory for polynomial transformations, is more robust, more practical, and faster to apply to real problems than the theory of polynomial transformations. In this paper we propose a methodology for transforming instances between NP-complete problems, which differs from Garey and Johnson's. Unlike most transformations which are used for proving that a problem is NP-complete based on the NP-completeness of another problem, the proposed approach is intended for extrapolating some known characteristics, phenomena, or behaviors from a problem A to another problem B. This extrapolation could be useful for predicting the performance of an algorithm for solving B based on its known performance for problem A, or for taking an algorithm that solves A and adapting it to solve B.

Health Risks due to Consumption of <i>Malus domestica</i>Golden Delicious Containing Heavy Metals

The intake of heavy metals through food consumption is a food safety problem that severely impacts the health of consumers, so information about food intake and heavy metal concentrations in food products is required to estimate the potential risk to the health of the population. The main purpose of this study was to estimate the potential risks to human health from exposure to Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn through the intake of Malus domestica Golden Delicious consumed in the Mexican southeast, considering the age group and gender. The concentration of each of the metals was quantified by spectrometry of atomic absorption (AAe) and the daily intake of metals (DIM) and health risk indices through the consumption of apple: health risk index (HRI), total health risk index (THRI), target hazard coefficient (THQ) and the probability of carcinogenic risk (CR) were estimated. The concentrations of the metals analyzed in the apple samples showed the following decreasing order: Zn ≥ Ni ≥ Cu ≥ Pb ≥ Cd. The DIM values showed the following decreasing order: child > young adult > adoescent > elders. The health risk assessments (HRI, THRI, THQ and CR) obtained from the samples of Golden Delicious apples are located within the acceptable and/or tolerable limits, however, the increase in the intake of heavy metals through consumption of apples from establishments in the study area or the consumption of various foods contaminated with heavy metals may increase the health risk potential of consumers. For this reason, it is recommended to carry out studies on the concentration of heavy metals in food products, mainly those of greater popular consumption, to guarantee food security of the population.
