BACKGROUND Appendiceal tumors are rare lesions that may not be easily differentiated from primary ovarian lesions preoperatively,despite the use of advanced diagnostic methods by experienced *** SUMMARY A 59-year-old G2P2 woman,with chronic pelvic pain,underwent a pelvic ultrasound that revealed an adnexal mass measuring 58 mm×34 mm×36 mm,with irregular borders,heterogeneous echogenicity,no color Doppler vascularization and without acoustic *** ovarian tissue was visualized in contact with the lesion,and it was impossible to separate the lesion from the ovary by applying pressure with the ultrasound ***,peritoneal metastases or other alterations were not *** the international ovarian tumor analysis ADNEX model,the lesion was classified as a malignant tumor(the risk of malignancy was 27.1%,corresponding to Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting Data System category 4).Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the presence of a right adnexal mass,apparently an ovarian tumor measuring 65 mm×35 mm,without signs of invasive or metastatic *** explorative laparotomy,normal morphology of the internal reproductive organs was noted.A solid mobile lesion involved the entire *** was *** of the abdominal cavity revealed no signs of malignant ***,the appendiceal lesion corresponded to a completely resected low-grade mucinous appendiceal neoplasm(LAMN).CONCLUSION The appropriate treatment and team of specialists who should provide health care to patients with seemingly adnexal lesions depend on the nature(benign vs malignant)and origin(gynecological vs nongynecological)of the ***,gynecologists and other pelvic surgeons should be familiar with the imaging signs of LAMN whose clinical presentation is silent or *** assistance of a consultant specializing in intestinal tumors is important support that gynecological surgeons can receive during the operation

Shared and tailored common bean transcriptomic responses to combined fusarium wilt and water deficit

Common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.),one of the most consumed food legumes worldwide,is threatened by two main constraints that are found frequently together in nature,water deficit(WD)and fusarium wilt(Fop).To understand the shared and unique responses of common bean to Fop and WD,we analyzed the transcriptomic changes and phenotypic responses in two accessions,one resistant and one susceptible to both stresses,exposed to single and combined *** responses(photosynthetic performance and pigments quantification)and disease progression were also *** combined FopWD imposition negatively affected the photosynthetic performance and increased the susceptible accession disease *** susceptible accession revealed a higher level of transcriptional changes than the resistant one,and WD single stress triggered the highest transcriptional *** 89 differentially expressed genes were identified exclusively in combined stresses for the susceptible accession,35 were identified in the resistant *** genes belong mainly to“stress”,“signaling”,“cell wall”,“hormone metabolism”,and“secondary metabolism”functional *** the up-regulated genes with higher expression in the resistant accession,the cysteine-rich secretory,antigen 5 and Pr-1(CAP)superfamily protein,a ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase family protein,and a chitinase A seem promising targets for multiple stress breeding.

The effect of height on performance of the PZT/Ni cylindrical bilayered magnetoelectric （ME） com- posites was studied in situ in this paper. multiple resonant peaks appear between 1 and 300 kHz frequency for cyl- inders of different heights. The first resonance frequency does not change with the cylinder height decreasing, but the second and the third resonant frequencies increase. The first three resonant modes radial, first-order height are attributed to the cylinder resonance, and second-order height resonance, respectively. The appropriate size and resonance frequency were chosen to obtain the highest ME voltage coefficient when designing cylindrical bilayered magnetoelectric devices. This article provides reference to design cylindrical magnetoelectric devices.

A study was made on the composition and properties of agar-type polysaccharides of Gracilaria sjoestedtii from Qingdao, China. Fractional extraction was carried out and four fractions were obtained. The yields and chemical composition of these fractions were determined. Gel strength measurements of the agar-type polysaccharide fractions were made after alkli modification. The nature of the non-gelling, highly sulphated galactans (Fraction II) present in the thaw water after the initial extraction of Gracilaria in a freeze-thaw cycle was reported and discussed.

Obtaining Porosity of Concrete Using X-ray Microtomography or Digital Scanner

The aim of this work is to determine the porosity of concrete by means of two NDT （non-destructive testing） using digital images. In one test, the images were obtained through X-ray microtomography and for another test via digital scanner. In both of the tests, the images were processed using techniques of mathematical morphology and pixel processing. For both NDT, it was used concrete samples with 20-30 MPa of compressive strength. The results for the porosity were compared with results obtained by the standard test proposed by NBR （Norma Brasileira） 9778 （2005） showing the compatibility between two studied methods and pattern method.

OBJECTIVE: To estimate the effectiveness of paracervical block in controlling pain among women treated with manual vacuum aspiration for an incomplete abortion METHODS: A randomized clinical trial was conducted at Nuestra Senora de Altagracia, a maternal and perinatal referral hospital in the Dominican Republic The sample size was based on a clinical difference of 1.5 points in the level of pain measured with the visual analog scale using 90%power and a sampling error of 0.04. Women who were at 12 weeks of gestation or less with an incomplete abortion were eligible to participate. They were randomly assigned to receive either the standard treatment of care (manual vacuum aspiration for uterine evacuation with psychological support but no paracervical block) or manual vacuum aspiration treatment with psychological support and paracervical block using 1.0%lidocaine. Patients with active infections, severe illnesses, psychiatric disorders, or allergies to lidocaine were excluded. Intraoperative pain as reported by the women and as documented by an external observer was measured. RESULTS: Although Ae paracervical block technique used showed a slight reduction in severe pain, there were no clinically or statistically significant differences in intraoperative pain between the 2 groups (relative risk 0.73; 95%confidence interval 0.43, 1.23) with 50%of all patients registering 7 or higher score on a visual analog pain scale of 0-10. 目的：探讨诺舒（novaSure）子宫内膜去除术治疗子宫腺肌病痛经合并月经过多的临床疗效及安全性。方法：对30例行诺舒治疗的子宫腺肌病痛经合并月经过多患者的临床资料进行回顾性分析，收集病例相关资料，通过门诊复诊或电话随访术后痛经、月经及贫血改善情况，比较手术前后B超子宫体积。结果：随访7-31个月，诺舒术后痛经缓解有效率83.3%，月经改善率为100%，贫血症状均明显好转，术后血红蛋白值比术前明显升高，差异有统计学意义（P〈0.05）。术后子宫体积较术前缩小，差异有统计学意义（P〈0.05）。术后2年内再次干预治疗1例（3.3%）。结论：诺舒用于治疗子宫腺肌病，既能解除月经过多症状又能使痛经症状明显缓解，是一种治疗子宫腺肌病的新方式。
