Effect of mushroom Extract Hericium erinaceus on Spatial memory and morphology of Neurons in the ca1 and ca3 Regions of the Hippocampus in Ovariectomized Rats

Various studies indicate that low levels of estradiol negatively impact cognitive abilities. Extracts from the fungus Hericium erinaceus (HE) contain bioactive components that promote the proper functioning of the nervous system and potential effects on protection against neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and motor dysfunctions. The objective was to evaluate the effects of the administration of the HE mushroom extract on visuospatial memory and morphology of neurons in the ca1 and ca3 regions of the hippocampus in ovariectomized rats. 40 young Wistar rats weighing 90 ± 10 g BW were used, which were distributed into four groups of 10 animals;Control Group, non-ovariectomized and untreated rats;Group E2, ovariectomized rats treated with estradiol (2 μg/kg/body weight);Group HE, ovariectomized rats treated with the extract of the fungus Hericium erinaceus (0.5 mg/kg body weight) and Group Ovx/ST, ovariectomized rats, without treatment. The animals were tested in the Barnes and Open Field maze, then they were sacrificed, and their brains were obtained to perform a histological analysis of neuronal morphology in the ca1 and ca3 areas of the hippocampus. The most outstanding results showed that the Ovx/ST group recorded the longest time to arrive at the escape box and stay in the Barnes maze. A correlation was observed between neuronal damage and function;in the groups that did not present satisfactory performance in the maze tests, morphological alterations were identified such as the presence of some neuronal somata with degeneration characteristics such as pyknosis, nuclear basophilia and shrinkage of the cells. Its soma, as well as a decrease in the nuclear area of ca1 and ca3 neurons. It is concluded that the fungus Hericium erinaceus exerted a neuroprotective effect on the neuronal bodies of the hippocampus, associated with better performance in the visuospatial recognition memory test.

Objective Pharmacopoeias regulate the manufacture of potentised pharmaceutical preparations used in different branches of complementary and integrative *** physicochemical properties and biological activity of these preparations are often investigated in preclinical research,yet no guidelines for experimental research currently exist in this *** present PrePoP guidelines aim to provide recommendations to promote high-quality,statistically sound,and reproducible preclinical research on potentised *** Input was gathered from researchers nominated by the relevant scientific societies using a simplified Delphi consensus approach covering the most relevant aspects of basic research methodology in the field including appropriate controls,sample preparation and handling,and *** three rounds of feedback,a consensus was finally reached on the most important aspects and considerations for conducting high-quality research on potentised *** We present a series of recommendations on a range of topics including experimental controls,system stability,blinding and randomisation,environmental influences,and procedures for the preparation of potentised samples and controls,and we address some specific challenges of this research *** This expert consensus process resulted in a robust set of methodological guidelines for research on potentised preparations and provides a valuable framework that will inform and improve the quality of subsequent research in this emerging field.

Tree height (H) in a natural stand or forest plantation is a fundamental variable in management, and the use of mathematical expressions that estimate H as a function of diameter at breast height (d) or variables at the stand level is a valuable support tool in forest inventories. The objective was to fit and propose a generalized H-d model for Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus established in forest plantations of Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro, michoacan, mexico. Using nonlinear least squares (NLS), 10 generalized H-d models were fitted to 883 and 1226 pairs of H-d data from Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The best model was refitted with the maximum likelihood mixed effects model (mEm) approach by including the site as a classification variable and a known variance structure. The Wang and Tang equation was selected as the best model with NLS;the mEm with an additive effect on two of its parameters and an exponential variance function improved the fit statistics for Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The model validation showed equality of means among the estimates for both species and an independent subsample. The calibration of the mEm at the plot level was efficient and might increase the applicability of these results. The inclusion of dominant height in the mEm approach helped to reduce bias in the estimates and also to better explain the variability among plots.

Simulation of Needle-Type Corona Electrodes by the Finite Element method

This paper describes a software tool, called LEVSOFT, suitable for the electric field simulations of corona electrodes by the Finite Element method （FEm）. Special attention was paid to the user friendly construction of geometries with corners and sharp points, and to the fast generation of highly refined triangular meshes and field maps. The execution of selfadaptive meshes was also implemented. These customized features make the code attractive for the simulation of needle-type corona electrodes. Some case examples involving needle type electrodes are presented.

Previously,it was suggested that biological maturation(Bm)could be linked to cardiac autonomic recovery(caR)in the pediatric ***,this influence hasn’t been confirmed *** aim was to investigate the impact of Bm on caR in female volleyball *** study with a sample of 38 volleyball players,comprising 20 girls(age:[11.62.1]years)and 18 women(age:[24.55.5]years),we analyzed Bm,comparing maturing subjects(girls)with mature subjects(women).Additionally,we assessed peak height velocity(PHV)in *** conducted a training session involving repeated sprints(3 rounds of 6 sprints interspersed by 5 min[min]of passive rest).Using short-range radio telemetry,we analyzed caR during(at the end of the 1st and 2nd rounds)and after(following the 3rd round)the training session of repeated sprints by applying the 60-s to 300-s heart rate recovery index(HRR-Index).Girls exhibited superior caR compared to women(round 2:60-s,120-s,240-s,and 300-s,pm indicated that individuals in the Late-PHV stage demonstrated superior caR compared to those in the Early-PHV and During-PHV groups.(60-s to 300-s,η2p>0.4,p0.4,pcal maturation has a significant impact on cardiac autonomic recovery.

The relationships between climate conditions and wood density in tropical forests are still poorly *** quantify spatial dependence of wood density in the state of minas Gerais(mG,Brazil),map spatial distribution of density,and correlate density with climate variables,we extracted data from the Forest Inventory of minas Gerais for 1988 trees scaled throughout the territory and measured wood density of discs removed from the *** variables were extracted from the database of the Ecological-Economic Zoning of minas *** spatial analysis,tree densities were measured at 44 georeferenced sampling *** data were subjected to exploratory analysis,variography,cross-validation,model selection,and ordinary *** relationships between wood density and environmental variables were calculated using dispersion matrices,linear correlation,and *** density proved to be highly spatially dependent,reaching a correlation of 96%,and was highly continuous over a distance of 228 *** distribution of wood density followed a continuous gradient of 514-659 kg m^(−3),enabling corre-lation with environment *** was correlated with mean annual precipitation(−0.57),temperature(0.63),and evapotranspiration(0.83).Geostatistical methods proved useful in predicting wood density in native tropical forests with different climate *** results confirmed the sensitivity of wood density to climate change,which could affect future carbon stock in forests.
