This study investigates the design and implementation of Flying Ad Hoc Networks(FANETs),a network architec-ture inspired by the Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET)model,specifically tailored to support unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).As UAVs increasingly contribute to diverse fields,from surveillance to delivery,FANETs have emerged as essential in ensuring stable,dynamic communication channels among drones in *** research adopts a dual approach,combining rigorous theoretical analysis with detailed practical simulations to assess the performance,adaptability,and efficiency of FANETs in varying *** findings emphasize the ability of FANETs to manage network congestion effectively in densely populated areas,a critical feature for maintaining reliable communications in complex ***,FANETs demonstrate high potential to support critical applications,such as emergency response,disaster management,and public safety operations,where quick and coordinated action is *** study also underscores the importance of establishing a hierarchical structure among nodes within the network,which allows for more efficient data exchange and helps optimize the overall network *** this work,significant insights are offered into the design principles that can enhance UAV communication networks,providing a foundation for the development of more resilient,scalable,and efficient technological *** advancements could accelerate the deployment of UAVs across a variety of sectors,including logistics,agriculture,environmental monitoring,and *** such,this study not only contributes to the field of ad hoc networking but also holds potential for transformative impacts across industries where UAVs play an increasingly central role,promoting greater integration and operational success.

Group theory(GT) provides a rigorous framework for studying symmetries in various disciplines in physics ranging from quantum field theories and the standard model to fluid mechanics and chaos theory. To date, the application of such a powerful tool in optical physics remains limited. Over the past few years however, several quantum-inspired symmetry principles(such as parity-time invariance and supersymmetry) have been introduced in optics and photonics for the first time. Despite the intense activities in these new research directions, only few works utilized the power of group theory. Motivated by this status quo, here we present a brief overview of the application of GT in optics, deliberately choosing examples that illustrate the power of this tool in both continuous and discrete setups. We hope that this review will stimulate further research that exploits the full potential of GT for investigating various symmetry paradigms in optics, eventually leading to new photonic devices.

The role of clinical diagnosis criteria on the frequency of accommodative insufficiency

AIM: To estimate and compare the frequency of accommodative insufficiency(AI) within the same clinical population sample depending on the type of clinical criteria used for diagnosis. Comparing the frequency within the same population would help to minimize bias due to sampling or methodological variability. METHODS: Retrospective study of 205 medical records of symptomatic subjects free of any organic cause and symptoms persisting despite optical compensation evaluated. Based on the most commonly clinical diagnostics criteria found in the literature, four diagnostics criteria were established for AI(Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ) based on subjective accommodative tests: monocular accommodative amplitude two or more diopters below Hofstetter's minimum value [15-(0.25×age)](Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ); failing monocular accommodative facility with minus lens, establishing the cut-off in 0 cycles per minute(cpm)(Ⅰ) and in 6 cpm(Ⅱ, Ⅲ); failing binocular accommodative facility with minus lens, establishing the cut-off in 0 cpm(Ⅰ) and in 3 cpm(Ⅱ).RESULTS: The proportion of AI(95%CⅠ) for criteria Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ were 1.95%(0.04%-3.86%), 2.93%(0.31%-4.57%), 6.34%(1.90%-7.85%) and 41.95%(35.14%-48.76%) respectively, with a statistically significant difference shown between these values(χ2=226.7, P<0.001). A pairwise multiple comparison revealed that the proportion of AI detected for criterion Ⅳ was significantly greater than the proportion for the rest of the criteria(P-adjusted<0.05 in all cases).CONCLUSION: The prevalence of cases of AI within the same clinical population varies with the clinical diagnostic criteria selected. The variation is statistically significant when considering the monocular accommodative amplitude as the only clinical diagnostic sign.

Noise pollution is becoming a critical health risk for city *** 2020,the COVID-19 pandemic forced many cities to implement several mobility *** restrictions changed human activity patterns and decreased the noise levels and noise pollution that often affect urban *** the number of infections decreased,so did the outdoor activities,influencing the population’s perception of *** paper aims to evaluate the changes in noise levels associated with mobility restrictions between 2020 and 2021 in Guayaquil,*** study used crowdsourcing with the help of smartphones and mobile applications to collect geo-referenced environmental noise *** data was used to generate noise maps in different time ***,noise level maps were created using GIS-based tools to identify the urban areas that experienced the highest noise level variation during the study *** results show that the most significant noise increase occurred at ***,when analyzing noise level changes in different urban areas,the western area of Guayaquil was the one that experienced the most significant noise level *** inform the perception of noise pollution and could potentially serve as a reference for decision-makers during the proposal of public policies that ensure a better quality of life for its citizens.

Global Software Development （GSD） is a well established field of software engineering with the benefits of a global environment. Software Project Management （SPM） plays a key role in the success of GSD. As a result, the need has arisen to study and evaluate the downsides of SPM for GSD, to thereby pave the way for the development of new methods, techniques, and tools with which to tackle them. This paper aims to identify and classify research on SPM approaches for GSD that are available in the literature, to identify their current weaknesses and strengths, and to analyze their applications in industry. We performed a Systematic Mapping Study （SMS） based on six classification criteria. Eighty-four papers were selected and analyzed. The results indicate that interest in SPM for GSD has been increasing since 2006. As a class of approaches, the most frequently reported methods （40%） are those used for coordination, planning, and monitoring, along with estimation techniques that can be used to better match a distributed project. SPM for GSD requires further investigation by researchers and practitioners, particularly with respect to cost and time estimations. These findings will help overcome the challenges that must to be considered in future SPM research for GSD, especially regarding collaboration and time-zone differences.

A conserved arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal core-species community colonizes potato roots in the Andes

Plant-symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)are of high global ecological and economic importance,but describing environmental communities of AMF at the species level remains a challenge,despite the need to understand AMF-plant preferences and to apply AMF in sustainable ***,the potato-associated AMF species community composition was assessed for three Andean countries along an altitudinal gradient and at different plant stages,by using 454 GS-FLX+sequencing of a 760 bp LSU rRNA gene PCR *** methods were compared:defining OTUs based on a simple sequence similarity threshold,or affiliating reference sequences to species based on a high throughput phylogenetic annotation approach using an evolutionary placement algorithm(EPA).The EPA-based approach was not only more precise,but also fundamental to robustly unveil the AMF species community *** principal advantage of this approach was also demonstrated by using artificially constructed datasets based on validated public database *** affiliation of sequence reads to species using phylogenetic annotation revealed a surprisingly conserved AMF core-species community structure in Andean potatoes,regardless of different plant stages and environmental *** total,41 species were detected and in some cases more than 25 species were found colonizing an individual root *** species were identified as dominant colonizers,co-occurring with Cetraspora nodosa and certain Claroideoglomus and Rhizophagus species in most potato root samples.

Testing for Deterministic Components in Vector Seasonal Time Series

Certain locally optimal tests for deterministic components in vector time series have associated sampling distributions determined by a linear combination of Beta variates. Such distributions are nonstandard and must be tabulated by Monte Carlo simulation. In this paper, we provide closed form expressions for the mean and variance of several multivariate test statistics, moments that can be used to approximate unknown distributions. In particular, we find that the two-moment Inverse Gaussian approximation provides a simple and fast method to compute accurate quantiles and p-values in small and asymptotic samples. To illustrate the scope of this approximation we review some standard tests for deterministic trends and/or seasonal patterns in VARIMA and structural time series models.

Chemoinformatic Approaches for Inhibitors of DNA Methyltransferases: Comprehensive Characterization of Screening Libraries

Virtual screening of compound databases is a promising approach to identify inhibitors of DNA methyltransferases and other epigenetic targets. An important first step before conducting virtual screening is to characterize the structural diversity and chemical space coverage of the screening collections. Herein, we report a comprehensive chemoinformatic characterization of novel screening libraries, including a focused collection directed to inhibitors of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), and two natural product databases. The compound databases were assessed in terms of physicochemical properties, molecular scaffolds, and fingerprints. As part of the scaffold diversity analysis, a recently developed method, based on Shannon Entropy, was used. The overall approach enabled the analysis of property space coverage, degree of overlap between collections, scaffold and structural diversity. Overall, the analysis of the distribution of physicochemical properties indicates that the DNMT focused library and the two natural products collections have molecules with properties similar to approved drugs. Moreover, the natural products databases analyzed in this work have different chemical structures from approved drugs and synthetic databases and therefore are attractive for virtual screening for DNMT inhibitors. The scaffold analysis revealed that the focused library has, overall, the largest scaffold diversity and that the most frequent scaffolds are not identified in the other analyzed collections. Therefore, the focused library is also attractive to perform virtual and experimental screening for novel inhibitors. This study represents a first step towards the virtual screening of novel compound databases to identify inhibitors of DNMTs. Results of this study are general and can be used for the virtual screening of the compound databases against targets directed to other therapeutic applications.
